00:00But I'm looking at the scores, and it seems like they're having their way out there, aren't they?
00:05Well, Craig, first of all, thanks for inviting me on.
00:08And second of all, it might sound like hyperbole, but I love these two weeks of the year.
00:12Not just from a workload standpoint that basically the golf's over midday,
00:16but the difference in the type of the golf courses and the golf that they're playing and the wind conditions
00:22and all of those fun things that really add to the challenge,
00:25I think it makes it a lot more entertaining than the standard regular season stuff
00:29we see week in and week out on the PGA Tour.
00:32To address your question, the Renaissance Club, really, really, really lay out over there in North Burick, right?
00:37It has a famous neighbor in Muirfield that everyone's heard of.
00:40But this is Lynx Land Golf, and it's really well designed,
00:45but you have to somewhat temper how hard you want to make a golf course over there
00:49because if the wind kicks up, then it can almost become unplayable, and you can't have that happen.
00:54So you can't have crazy greens.
00:56You can't have, you know, all sorts of undulations in and around the greens
00:59because the balls just won't stop rolling, and that's kind of like the double-edged sword
01:04that they live by over there.
01:05What you're seeing over there today and what we're going to see this week
01:07is a calm week over there in Scotland, right there on the 1st of 4th,
01:11and I mean, they're on the coastline.
01:13You've got 65 guys under par right now with about eight holes left to play for the field in round one.
01:19Yeah, and I guess that's why I'm surprised to see so many.
01:22It's like, you know, normally, Keith, you'd come on this show, and I'd say,
01:25all right, you know, pick a winner for me based on what you've seen thus far,
01:28but it's like impossible.
01:29I see like a half a dozen players are six under par.
01:33I'm tracking Scotty Scheffler.
01:34Looks like he's three under.
01:36Oberg is three under.
01:37Did you have an opinion, I guess, going in on who could win a tournament like this?
01:42Oh, absolutely.
01:43Over at Read the Line, my company, we certainly filled out a full card.
01:46The guys that we were into early pre-tournament, Colin Morikawa, Sam Burns, Victor Hovland,
01:53Matt Fitzpatrick, and Max Grazerman, the local kid here from New Jersey.
01:57I mean, that's the five I picked to win outright with all different sorts of odds to start
02:01for many reasons why, but really what it breaks down to is that we knew that it was going to be calm
02:06and it was going to be a scoring fest, and we've seen that here before.
02:09I mean, Vegas set the over-under at the start of the week on the winning score at 16.5 under par,
02:14so we knew we needed some birdie makers like a Sam Burns, like a Victor Hovland,
02:18guys that are really aggressive with the way they approach the game off the tee
02:22and they try to score, so that's why I went with those guys.
02:25No Scotty, the odds are just too short, and with Rory coming off of what's been
02:29kind of a very up-and-down rollercoaster season, you know,
02:33he hits that career milestone at the Masters, but since then,
02:36the approach game hasn't been there, and now he's got his head shaved.
02:39I don't know.
02:39He must have a lot on his mind.
