Talking about the difference between Meyer-Zeusia, which the fairways were, going to Zorro-Zeusia,
00:07
and then going from the main birdie, Bermuda, well, and I think that's actually playing
00:12
a lot into what the players are seeing.
00:15
Because when you put a little more slope contour and, you know, character into the golf course,
00:22
when the grasses play firmer and faster, it just changes your mindset.
00:25
The old Meyer in the fairways, you'd hit it and it'd land and that was about it.
00:30
Maybe it rolled out a couple paces.
00:32
Now the Zorro is a bit thinner bladed grass.
00:36
It sits a bit more upright.
00:38
The ball wants to chase a little bit more.
00:40
But it still will hold different than a Bermuda grass fairway or a bent grass fairway.
00:46
Great examples, 14 and 18, we put more slope in those landing zones, trying to get the
00:51
ball to hang a little bit so that those shots, you got to judge that lie.
00:56
The ball's chasing, but it's not just running in the rough automatically.
01:01
So there's a nice balance there.
01:02
With the greens, the Tiff Eagle tends to be a more stable turf for warm season green than
01:10
a lot of our other options at the moment.
01:13
It's, you know, green this year, there's no green.
01:18
They're so young.
01:19
And a number of players have talked about that in caddies because they're like, well,
01:22
how do we play the green?
01:23
Right, right.
01:24
There's no green.
01:25
There's nothing settled in yet.
01:26
Yeah.
01:27
So, but both of those grasses are really providing a great surface today and also great sustainability
01:33
for the club.
01:34
You know, you know what's back, like, you know, part of my take is what's back in the
01:38
week?
01:39
Who's back in the week?
01:40
Zoysia's back.
01:41
Zoysia's so back.
01:42
Zoysia is back.
01:43
You know how many clubs now that are just dying to put Zoysia in?
01:47
And it's not the Zoysia that we grew up on where you're in the golf cart and you're driving
01:50
down the fairway and it's just going back and forth.
01:53
There's different strands of this Zoysia now that are fantastic.
01:57
I know that at Shoal Creek we're looking at the Stadium Zoysia, which is a darker green,
02:03
which I think you can get down pretty tight, kind of similar to what Eastlake has out here
02:08
with the Zorro.
02:09
Yeah, and we have a different Zoysia grass around the greens, actually.
02:13
Prism.
02:14
Prism, right?
02:15
It's super tight, too.
02:17
That is so cool.
02:18
A putting surface Zoysia.
02:19
No wonder.
02:20
So you could actually take it way down.
02:22
That's why it's going to play fast.
02:25
That's why it can play fast.
02:26
Because most times when you think about Zoysia, you think about that first bounce like you
02:30
were talking about that just doesn't go anywhere.
02:32
But when you have something that's that tight, this Prism Zoysia, it first off, it looks
02:36
amazing.
02:37
It's going to look good on TV, but it plays like really tight.
02:40
The grain's not going to be a super big issue, but you're going to have to be able to clip
02:44
it to be able to get spin on it.
02:46
And that's maybe this is getting a little off topic, but now the grass nerd in me is
02:50
kind of working here.
02:51
Is Zoysia for clubs in warmer climates?
02:54
Is that, are we going to see more Zoysia greens and things like that, or is it, like, is that
02:59
becoming a competitor to Bermuda, I'd say?
03:01
I think there's one in Atlanta that I've, yeah, I think we're seeing where it's going.
03:07
The technology and the breeding and what the growers are bringing to the table is outstanding.
03:13
I mean, we've even got some of those Zoysia grasses they're putting on bunker faces and
03:17
not mowing an entire year because they just don't grow, which is phenomenal for maintenance
03:21
and cost.
03:22
And so there's a number of things we're trying.
03:25
The problem is there's no magic grass, no magic turf.
03:29
It all takes labor.
03:30
It all takes work.
03:31
It all takes some sort of inputs from either fertilizer, pesticides, whatever to be good.
