00:00West Bromwich Albion striker Daryl Dike has spoken in glowing terms about the new manager
00:06Ryan Mason calling him great during pre-season. Dike, who missed much of last season due to
00:13injury, is eager to get his campaign started and contribute as the championship season
00:18kicks off next month. Ryan has been great, Dike said. I know coming into a new environment
00:25can be very difficult, but he's been absolutely fantastic. He's a good leader and a good person.
00:31You can tell he expects us to work hard in every single session. That's one of his things,
00:36pushing players to develop positive and good habits. Dike also praised Mason's tactical acumen
00:43and meticulous approach. Tactically, he's very good. You can see he always likes to be involved,
00:49whether it's in meetings or during a session. No matter what, he's very precise. I think having
00:55a gaffer like that is very, very important for us. Probably the best option because it's low risk,
01:00isn't it? It's only a loan. You're not spending a big transfer fee. And then an attacking midfielder,
01:05a bit more creativity in there. But they might find that for a player who's already at the club.
01:09Tami Abani, who signed in the winter for £3 million, didn't really get going because of fitness
01:15problems. But with a proper pre-season under his belt, he could have a good impact and he's supposed
01:19to be a very creative player. Ryan Mason, I think we'll have a little bit of money to spend this summer,
01:23a little bit more than the likes of Mowbray and Corbran had in the past. So yeah, there could
01:28be quite a few exciting additions for West Brom and the team could look very different next season.
01:33As for his own recovery and preparation, Dike revealed that while players stay active in the
01:38off-season, there's no substitute for the intensity of training back at the club. As a player, we keep
01:43training when we're away for the summer. But when you're back out here and you're running,
01:48it doesn't really compare, he said. Assessing both his fitness and mental readiness, Dike added,
01:55I'm happy with where I'm at and how I ended last term. I'm happy I could show myself and show
02:02everyone I can still do these kinds of things. With the season looming and the new manager setting
02:07the tone, Dike seems primed and motivated to make his mark at the Hawthorns.
