With talks going on surrounding replacing the current banknotes, we went out into Manchester to ask people on the street who they think should be immortalised on a note.

00:00Hello and welcome to Manchester World. My name is Theo Houston Betts. Today I'm out
00:03on the streets of Manchester asking people about banknotes. And that's because the Bank
00:06of England are looking again at the way that the banknotes are set out and they want the
00:11public's help. We want to see who people want to see on new banknotes and why.
00:16I think David Attenborough should go on the tenor bro. He's trying to save the planet.
00:21He's right bro. David Attenborough on the tenor and then it'll remind us to save the
00:25planet because David's on about it. I don't care about the royal family. I don't
00:30want to see any of their faces on money ever again frankly. And I will just be
00:34as straightforward about that as possible. I think in general like having people
00:38like let's for example say Oasis they're like a huge UK grassroots
00:42Manchester band. That could be quite funny to have them on a few of the notes.
00:45Make it a fun national game show. Yes. Where everybody has to text in which
00:49person they would like to be on the next note you know. Florence Nightingale though
00:53is like my first thought. At least in terms of figurehead for nursing.
00:57It's like...
