00:00Good news for the Dodgers, who are now in some desperate need of those good tidings.
00:06They have lost five consecutive games, but Tyler Glass now set to make his return
00:10for the first time since late April to the bump today.
00:14The Dodgers hoping to avoid the sweep in Milwaukee against the Brew Crew.
00:18They are favored to do so, Danny, in the total at eight and a half.
00:22It's good to see the Dodgers having Tyler Glass now back in L.A.
00:25reflected in Price as a favorite to avoid that sweep and snap their slide today against the Brewers.
00:32But how much can we trust Glass now in his first start since late April?
00:36Yeah, it's going to be a short leash for Glass now.
00:39This is a guy that has not just injuries this season,
00:43but this is a guy that has a very lengthy injury history across his Major League Baseball career.
00:49So Glass now is dominant.
00:50He's a guy I don't know what is over under strikeout totals is set at at this juncture.
00:56So he's I think that would be a smarter play than, say, whatever his innings pitch over under might be,
01:03because that's the kind of electric stuff that he possesses,
01:07regardless of what he's dealing with discomfort wise, health wise.
01:10He's got strikeout stuff in Milwaukee.
01:13The opposite of that would be that Milwaukee is a team that doesn't strike out nearly as much as most of the teams in the league.
01:19They have one of the better strikeout rates in baseball.
01:22But again, Glass now is a guy that goes out there looking to strike out guys.
01:25He's not going out there to try to pitch seven, eight innings, especially with a restricted pitch count.
01:30So to answer your question, you know, pitch count wise, it's going to be limited.
01:35But for the Dodgers perspective, this is a team that has dealt with injuries to that starting rotation all season long.
01:41So they're hoping they got Otani back now.
01:44They got Glasnow back now.
01:46They still got Yamamoto into the fold.
01:48So they're hoping to get healthy as they creep near the deadline so they can have an idea of what their roster is going to look like post deadline as they creep towards the playoffs.
01:56Yeah.
01:57And certainly, Danny, who would have thought that we'd be heading into like the Major League Baseball All-Star break with the Dodgers on a losing streak?
02:02Probably expect them to be on a 10 game win streak here with how talented that team is.
02:06We'll see if they have a bounce back performance.
02:07Let's get out to the West Coast, another NL West team, San Francisco, in unbelievable fashion last night.
02:12A walk-off, three-run inside the park, home run to take down the Philadelphia Phillies.
02:17You have that three-to-one lead, courtesy of a Kyle Swerver splashdown home run.
02:21Verlander versus Luzardo on the mound, so it's a slight favorite towards the Philadelphia Phillies.
02:25But right now, the Phillies just can't hit.
02:28Does it creep up today where they go, hey, Verlander's on the mound?
02:30That's a guy we might be able to hit today.
02:33Yeah, Patrick Bailey of all the players who hit an inside the park home run.
02:37I don't think he would have been near the top of the list.
02:40He probably would have been near the bottom.
02:41A guy that's hit all season, a buck 70, has one of the lowest OPSs in the league.
02:46And, oh, by the way, he's a catcher.
02:48So he's probably not the fleetest of feet either.
02:51In San Francisco, I mean, that ball went, I think, 420 feet.
02:54It just hit off that brick wall.
02:56Pretty remarkable stuff.
02:58It was the first time in MLB history that there was a leadoff inside the park home run,
03:01which was done by Lawrence Butler over in Sacramento,
03:04and a walk-off inside the park home run in the same day with Patrick Bailey.
03:09But, yeah, looking ahead, Verlander has struggled.
03:11He gave up six runs in his last start.
03:13He really just hasn't been able to, you know,
03:15show the Verlander stuff that he has in the previous career.
03:18And we knew that going in.
03:19You know, it would be wrong for us to assume that Justin Verlander at 41 years old
03:24is Justin Verlander of his previous days.
03:26So the Phillies have struggled a little bit offensively.
03:29They've dealt with some injuries.
03:30They finally got Bryce Harper off the IL about a week and a half, two weeks ago.
03:34He's still looking to get things going.
03:36Castellanos is hitting the ball well right now.
03:38Contact-wise, the power numbers haven't quite been there.
03:41Similarly with Alec Bond, the power numbers haven't quite been there with him.
03:44I think right now the guys are making solid contact.
03:47They're hitting singles.
03:48I think the OPS and slug percentage is really what Philly is most concerned about
03:52because these are guys that like to slug.
03:54Your Schwarbers, your Castellanos, your Harpers, your maybe Alec Bond hasn't shown the pop
03:59that we hoped we would see.
04:00But I think for Philly, it's less about contact.
04:03It's less about singles.
04:04It's really getting back to going gap to gap and hitting the ball over the fence
04:07like they were two years ago when they were in the NLCS.
