Parliament's Public Accounts Committee meeting concludes; Air India crash discussed in detail

New Delhi, July 08 2025 (ANI): The Public Accounts Committee Meeting concluded on July 07 with the Air India Crash being a hot topic of discussion throughout the meeting. Air India CEO Campbell Wilson also attended the meeting where passenger and other fees, airline charges, and tariffs were to be decided and regulated. On June 12, a London-bound Air India Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner crashed shortly after takeoff from Ahmedabad's Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Airport.

05:30But aviation in India is definitely safe and there is no reason and I am travelling in a

05:37few days on an Air India flight myself.

05:39DGCA Sir what did the airlines say to the members concerns about the air safety particularly

05:45Air India?

05:46No, no I appreciate members as a general mood as I said people always are concerned when

05:53such a major tragedy happens and it is also imperative that they ask questions and they

06:01get you know reasonably satisfactory answers.

06:04And I did not find reason you know we are here to assist in the process of restoring confidence.

06:25But I can tell you Indian aviation is in good hands.

06:29And on the price surge thing sir because certain price surge that happened.

06:33Pricing and all those issues were raised by members and some of the concerns are definitely

06:39very valid and especially we saw during post-Palgam or Mahakumbha or some such events.

06:46Air fare surge is very very high and it is also within the jurisdiction of the ministry

06:53and the DGCA to control predicated pricing.

07:00So they should invoke it and at the time of such you know exigencies they should also call

07:08the airlines and have a you know dialogue with them and ensure that prices are maintained

07:13at reasonable levels.
