00:00These are 10 out of 31 shipping containers being held at the port of Subic by the Department of Agriculture or DA and Bureau of Customs or BOC.
00:10These containers was flagged for suspected agricultural smuggling.
00:15According to the DA, the alleged smuggled agricultural products from 10 containers already has a total market value of 100 million pesos,
00:23which is expected to reach an estimate of 300 million pesos once the agency opened the remaining containers.
00:53The DA and BOC flagged a total of 52 containers. Of these, 21 have been cleared for release.
01:00But 31 remain under customs custody after the consignee of their representatives failed to appear.
01:06While three additional containers were issued warrants of seizure and detention following the alert orders.
01:13Two weeks ago, meron nagtangkang itinakas dito yung tatlong container. Nahabol namin hanggang Bulacan.
01:20All these products will be tested to determine if they are safe for consumption.
01:25But some carrots already show visible signs of damage.
01:29If the onions, carrots, and fish are deemed safe to eat, the DA will consult Malacanang on the possibility of distributing them to the public.
01:38So far this year, 20 companies have been blacklisted for involving agricultural smuggling, including two consignees involved in Subic shipment.
01:47Kagabi, nag-meeting kami ni bagong commissioner, ni Ariel Nepomuseno, at si General Torre, may representative of CIDG,
01:56kasama na si Secretary Año ng NSA because this is already a national security matter.
02:01So nag-usap-usap kami, talagang dedicated lahat sa utos ng ating Pangulo na habulin talaga itong mga kumpanya na nahuli na.
02:10At hopefully before the end of the year, may makita tayo mga medyo marami-rami sanang nakaposas.
02:16The DA and authorities are already chasing and investigating nearly 100 individuals, including brokers and company stockholders, involved in agricultural smuggling.
02:27This disrupts the trade, destroys the lives of our farmers and fisher folks.
02:34Yung ma-legitimate business man naman na gumagawa ng tama ay naaapektuhan din.
02:38So it really affects the economy, no? Aside from this promotes corruption at many levels.
02:46Those involved will face charges under the Anti-Agricultural Economic Sabotage Act, a non-pailable offense,
02:52as well as Food Safety Act of 2013 and Custom Modernization and Tariff Act.
02:58This is part of government's intensified campaign against agricultural smuggling
03:02in line with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.'s directive to protect local food supply.
