00:00What did you think of the end of the Gold Cup with Mexico beating the U.S. 2-1?
00:06U.S. got out to the early lead, scored the early goal, and Mexico was able to take them,
00:11got the over 2-1 there, so 2-1 final for Mexico.
00:14Yeah, you know what, Carver?
00:16I was on the under 2-1, and obviously a disastrous start to the game.
00:20You got the early goal from the U.S.
00:22Mexico responds in, like, the 30th minute.
00:24And, you know, like when you shouldn't believe you still have a chance of winning a bet,
00:30but you still do?
00:31I actually thought, you know what?
00:33They're not going to score again.
00:35I was like, they really will not score again.
00:36This is going to slow down.
00:37And I'm watching a CFL game at the same time, and I'm sort of trying to,
00:41let me not watch for 10 minutes and get through another 10 minutes without a goal.
00:45You know what I'm saying?
00:46Sort of pop back in.
00:47I'm like, oh, look, look, hey, hey, we got a shot here.
00:50And then, boom, in like the 70th minute, Mexico scored.
00:53I thought it was a justifiable result.
00:56You know, I think the right team won.
00:58The U.S., quite frankly, weren't very good.
01:00They scored the early goal, and there was a lot of just sort of chaos
01:03and frantic play from them in the game.
01:08It wasn't like Mexico was great either.
01:10As a whole, the Gold Cup is getting criticized pretty hard, right?
01:14Just about the quality of it, the officiating, when it is in the campaign,
01:20about the best players not playing.
01:22Because let's be real.
01:24And it's no excuse, because I saw some people, oh, good for you, Mexico.
01:27You beat our sub team.
01:28No, no, no, no.
01:29Don't talk like that, right?
01:30Everybody tried in this tournament.
01:32But it is true, right?
01:33Like, Pulisic wasn't there.
01:35You and I talked about it.
01:36He doesn't want to get killed playing this goon stuff right now, right?
01:40Alphonso Davies got hurt playing in this stuff a couple of months ago,
01:43and the same against the CONCACAF teams.
01:46So, like, we've seen this before.
01:48You know, CONCACAF, let's just be real.
01:50It is Bush League, bro.
01:52Like, dude, they don't even know where the games were three days before.
01:55Oh, we'll tell you.
01:55It's like a secret raid.
01:57You know, like, it really is like a Bush League major federation.
02:01But let's bring on the World Cup now.
02:03And as far as the U.S. is concerned, people are all down,
02:06and everyone's ripping them and stuff.
02:08You know, Mike, you know, we've been around a long time.
02:10Is it ever going to change, bro?
02:12No.
02:12Like, USA and Canada, we're not, like, ever going to dominate in soccer.
02:16So, don't get surprised when you lose to Mexico in the Gold Cup.
02:19Everyone, ah, this is shameful.
02:21What do you mean shameful?
02:22Like, you know what I mean?
02:23It's been going on for 100 years, guys.
02:25It's not going to change.
02:26It's because, you know, it's not just that easy.
02:28Simple as that, bro.
02:30No, it isn't.
02:31And you talk about all the problems.
02:33I think the thing I saw last night the most that people were bellyaching about
02:37was also the field conditions, which for these games have been pretty bad.
02:43And I think you could kind of mix in the Club World Cup as well.
02:47Because these are the fields, Gabe, where the World Cup is going to be played next year.
02:53Like, these are the stadiums that it's going to take place.
02:55And I think it's a big week kind of segue also for MetLife,
02:59because MetLife has the final next year of the World Cup.
03:02And they have all these last three games, I believe, of the Club World Cup.
03:07Tuesday, Wednesday, and then the final.
03:09All of it's at MetLife.
03:10I'm interested to see how that field holds up this week.
03:12You're going to like this cover, especially everybody locals in the Jersey, New York area.
03:19Over the weekend, the Dortmund match was there, right?
03:21It was, what, Real Madrid and Dortmund.
03:23And they opened up the broadcast.
03:26Welcome to one of the most premier sporting stadiums in the world.
03:31And they did this helicopter shot over MetLife.
03:34And I saw Twitter blow up, bro.
03:36People were like, hold on, hold on, hold on.
03:38Did you just call MetLife one of the premier sporting stadiums in the world?
03:44And the best is, I got a bad flashback of being stuck in a parking lot.
03:48Like, they did the helicopter shot.
03:50And all you see is just parking lots and nothing around there.
03:54For the love of God, how the hell did they choose that stadium for the World Cup final, bro?
04:00I just think, I don't get it.
