Haridwar — A disturbing case of communal violence has come to light from Haridwar’s Manglaur area, where a group of Kanwariyas allegedly assaulted a Muslim family and vandalised their car after a minor road accident.

The incident occurred when a car carrying the family — including women and children — accidentally brushed against some Kanwariyas walking on the road during their pilgrimage. According to eyewitnesses and video footage, the situation escalated after the attackers realised the driver belonged to the Muslim community.

The videos, which have since gone viral on social media, show the Kanwariyas forcing the family out of their car, breaking the doors, chasing the male passengers, and assaulting them while causing extensive damage to the vehicle.

Following public outrage, Haridwar Police registered an FIR at Manglaur Police Station under relevant sections for assault and damage to property.

In an official statement, police said: “During the Kanwar Yatra in Manglaur, when a car brushed against Kanwariyas, they attempted to damage the vehicle in anger. A case has been registered, and legal action is being taken.”

The incident has sparked strong condemnation online, with many demanding strict action against the accused. Police have assured that the matter is being investigated thoroughly.
