00:00Joe Flacco, Kenny Pickett, Dylan Gabriel, and Shador Sanders.
00:05Who will be the Browns Week 1 starting quarterback?
00:09Donnie, you said you love this one. What are you thinking?
00:11I love it. I love it.
00:11Because the fact of the matter is, you look at this,
00:14and sometimes you have to put it in its place and say,
00:16all right, how is it supposed to play out?
00:18Well, a healthy franchise goes, you know what?
00:21We're going to stink this year.
00:22So do I put an aging veteran in there who's going to do nothing for my future?
00:26Yes, that's what we're going to do at a plus 110 price
00:28as we look at this point right now.
00:30So for my money, I say to myself, all right, I don't want to do that here.
00:33You know what should happen?
00:34You should have Joe Flacco at 15 to 1 to start Week 1,
00:38and the two young quarterbacks at plus 120 apiece, let's just say,
00:42plus 100, plus 120.
00:43Because what are you getting out of the Cleveland Browns this year?
00:46Let's just say, like, Joe Flacco starts Week 1.
00:48I'm going to guarantee you right now, by Week 5, they're 1 and 4 at best.
00:51Maybe 0 and 5 at that point.
00:53So then you say, okay, we're going to Kenny Pickett.
00:56He's going to lose three straight games.
00:57And you go, oh, no, now it's our future.
00:59You're like, what are we actually doing with the Cleveland Browns?
01:02What do we do?
01:03I don't know what the Browns are doing.
01:04I'll just say this.
01:05Well, they're 0 and 8.
01:05What's your pivot?
01:08I do think they could get over their win total this year.
01:11I will say that.
01:12But I'll say this.
01:13Dylan Gabriel has no shot to start.
01:16So just cross him off the list at 5 to 1.
01:19My money would be on Kenny Pickett at 2 to 1.
01:21And the reason why I say that is because Kenny Pickett only had basically one starting role,
01:26and that was in Pittsburgh.
01:27He's basically a backup and was to Jalen Hurts, and he's still a young quarterback.
01:32So potentially, you know what you have in Joe Flacco.
01:35He got you to a playoff game a couple of years ago and got smacked by C.J. Stroud in Houston.
01:41He's the backup for this organization and have him and Shador battle it out.
01:45But Kenny Pickett, if he is at least above average, he has the potential to have, let's just say,
01:53a Sam Darnold or a Baker Mayfield type of trajectory where maybe you catch lightning in a bottle
01:58and he could be your quarterback for the next two or three seasons.
02:02I'm just saying you get him on the cheap.
02:03But that, Joe, is the dumbest quarterback room in the NFL.
02:07Oh, I agree.
02:08They're so ill-thought about the way they went about it.
02:11And this isn't a team that's like, we're the Pittsburgh Steelers.
02:14Let's get the nine wins this year.
02:16This team's win total is five and a half.
02:18And if it's five and a half, you go, Dylan Gabriel, you're going to get eight games.
02:21Shador Sanders, you're getting nine.
02:23The better quarterback, he's going to end up being the starting quarterback next year.
02:25If you both stink, we're going right back to the draft, and Arch Manning is going to be our quarterback.
02:30The fact that you're going to start a veteran quarterback in Joe Flacco week one
02:33when your fan base says, what is the prognosis of the season?
02:36No, I don't think they're starting Joe Flacco.
02:39I don't believe that.
02:40I know he's the front runner right now.
02:41I just believe.
02:42Self-preservation mode.
02:43Again, he's the backup, I believe.
02:45I think it's going to be one of the other three.
02:47I think the only reason Flacco is in minus money is because he may not be on the team.
02:52Flacco initially opened as like the fourth best odds.
02:55Flacco started a playoff game for this team.
02:57Yes.
02:58Not that long ago.
02:59I know.
02:59He's very much so the guy that they would give the job to if he was on the team.
03:04The reality, though, is the whole thing is a disaster.
03:07They still have Deshaun Watson on the roster.
03:10I'm just saying.
03:11He says he's healthy.
03:12He says he's ready.
03:12He's going to take Shador under his wing.
03:14One of the problems with the Gabriel Shador thing is both picks ended up getting so much attention, right?
03:24That it's like, all right, we'll give a rookie a chance and see if they're good.
03:27How good are either one of those guys going to be to stop you from just drafting a rookie next year?
03:31They put two draft picks into the quarterback position.
03:34They're going to start Joe Flacco and draft the kid next year in the top five.
03:37That's crazy.
03:38So the whole thing's a disaster anyway.
03:41I ultimately think that Flacco has the job unless he gets traded away.
03:46And they're going to have to trade away one of Flacco or Pickett to make room for the two quarterbacks that they drafted.
