Businessman Sushil Kedia’s Mumbai office was vandalized by MNS workers after his social media post about not learning Marathi despite living in the city for 30 years sparked outrage. Kedia, who had publicly challenged MNS chief Raj Thackeray, later admitted, 'I overreacted,'as tensions rose over the Marathi language issue. MNS leaders condemned Kedia’s remarks, while political figures and police responded to the incident.

00:00Namaskar, my tweet happened in a wrong state of mind under dures and stress and further
00:07now it is getting manipulated and misinterpreted to suit the interests of people who want to
00:13gain from any controversy. Having come under pressure mentally from the violence inflicted
00:20on those who do not know Marathi, I ended up overreacting. I realize I must take back
00:26my overreactions and withdraw. Truth is, even after living for 30 years in Mumbai, the level of
00:34proficiency and fluency that a native Marathi born can have, we will not be able to achieve.
00:43And for avoiding any embarrassments or confusions, one has been using Marathi language only in
00:54less than formal situations with a casual atmosphere only before people very closely
01:01known to us. This has not happened to me in the use of seven other Indian languages that I could
01:06learn over a period of time. And for the simple reason that when there is an atmosphere of fear
01:13that keeps on returning back time to time again and again, it creates natural hesitation.
01:18that what if I end up speaking a single word or phrase out of context or inappropriately,
01:26and some people will choose to blow it out of proportions to purposefully interpret
01:32as an insult being inflicted upon Marathi.
01:35And in such a situation, in such a situation, I, if overreacted in that tweet, I clearly understand
01:48that what a contradiction I've been myself. Always, always, always, not once, not twice, but always,
01:55one has been having a deep sense of appreciation and gratitude to Mr. Raj Thakre for the strong
02:02fundamental issues he raises with the strength with which he stands up for issues concerning
02:07all of us. Whether it was the Hanuman Chalisa campaign recent in recent memories or always,
02:13the championing of Hindutva and Rastrava that he has done is always been a hero. But this time,
02:20when our own have been loggerheads with each other. My mind went haywire and stress. While I've been a fan,
02:28an ardent follower who has regularly positively tweeted about him, with this kind of a situation
02:36where our own are hurting our own. I erred completely in my emotional overreactions.
02:44I therefore urge the same way that I've realized my mistake, and I wish to correct it unequivocally.
02:51The concerned people may also hopefully consider someday soon, that instead of frightening people,
02:58if you provide us encouragement, it will help us overcome our hesitations in achieving fluency in
03:08Marathi language more rapidly, as we will be fearlessly using it more and more. Of course,
03:14the tweet that I made out of haste, out of the stress conveyed things in a way that can be interpreted in
03:23many ways. But if you look at my past tweeting, the way I've been appreciative of Raj Thakarajji,
03:28I'm hopeful he will realize that when they give their own mind, then the mistakes are going to be four
03:35help, as much as possible. That means that I want to be capable of misunderstanding and
03:57the comments.
03:57You
