00:40and reiterates that such ideology has no room in the 21st century.
00:52Hello and welcome to From the South.
00:54I'm Alejandra Garcia from Telesur Studios in Havana, Cuba.
00:57We'll begin with the news. Stay with us.
01:17The resistance movement, Hamas, has said it is currently holding talks with Palestinian faction leaders
01:23to discuss a new ceasefire proposal received from the peace mediators.
01:28Hamas declared that it will present its final decision about the proposal
01:32after ending the consultations with the faction groups.
01:36The proposal follows reports that Israel has agreed to a near-complete withdrawal from Gaza
01:41under a potential 60-day ceasefire.
01:44According to Israeli media, a limited military presence would remain in the Mordek Corridor,
01:51separating Gaza's southern and northern regions.
01:53The deal also includes a phased exchange of 10 living captives
01:58and 18 deceased ones for hundreds of Palestinian prisoners.
02:03Meanwhile, the Israeli occupation forces have not stopped their aggression
02:07against the Palestinian territory.
02:09At least 20 people were killed and several more were wounded early Friday
02:18after Israeli forces launched an airstrike on shelters for displaced people
02:23in Khan Junis in the southern part of the Gaza Strip.
02:26According to local media, 15 people were killed in an attack near the Taiba Towers,
02:31three in the Al Sabra neighborhood, and two at a humanitarian aid center north of Rafah.
02:38The death add to the more than 100 people killed by the Israeli army
02:43in various areas of the Gaza Strip on Thursday.
02:46The attacks were preceded by an ambush operation carried out by Palestinian armed factions
02:52against an Israeli maneuver force operating in the region.
03:01The United Nations Human Rights Office recorded at least 613 killings at eight points
03:13run by the Israeli and U.S.-backed Gaza Humanitarian Foundation and near-humanitarian convoys.
03:19The spokesperson for the United Nations Office, Rabina Shemtasani,
03:24said the figure is as of June 27th, adding that since then there have been further incidents.
03:31Shemtasani demanded access to carry out investigations and to determine responsibilities,
03:37saying that it is clear that the Israeli military shelled and shot at Palestinians
03:42trying to reach the distribution points.
03:44Earlier this month, UNRA Commissioner General Philip Lazzarini
03:48said over 130 non-governmental organizations signed a joint call demanding the restoration
03:55of a unified United Nations-led humanitarian response in Gaza
04:00for aid, coordination, and delivery to be returned to the international humanitarian law standards.
04:06So the latest figures that we have, we have recorded 613 killings, both at GHF points
04:20and near humanitarian convoys.
04:22Now, this is a figure as of the 27th of June.
04:26Since then, I was reading our latest SITREP, there have been further incidents on who is responsible.
04:32Well, it is clear that the Israeli military has shelled and shot at Palestinians
04:37trying to reach the distribution points.
04:40How many killings? Who is responsible for?
04:42For that, we need an investigation.
04:45We need access. We need an independent inquiry.
04:47And we need accountability for these killings.
04:52I lost my brother. Oh, world.
04:54I lost my brother in the U.S. distribution center that they set up to feed people,
05:00but they are killing people, not feeding them.
05:03They are not feeding people. They are killing people.
05:06And we do not want them. And we do not want the U.S. center.
05:09They should stop the center as soon as possible, because every day there are 100 martyrs there.
05:17This. This is a failed project.
05:20And we do not want it at all.
05:22And it must be closed.
05:24Either they exterminate the entire people together or stop the war.
05:28What do they want from our civilians?
05:36In Mexico, social and human rights organizations will rally against the anti-migration policies
05:42of the Trump administration to support their nationals.
05:45Several social movements and human rights organizations summoned for demonstrations on Friday
05:51to reject U.S. immigration policies as part of an ongoing wave of protest.
05:56Some groups will picket in front of the U.S. embassy in Mexico City as a sign of solidarity.
06:03Likewise, several events have been organized with emphasis on nonviolence and respect for the right of free speech.
06:10Overall, Mexico has expressed strong diplomatic criticisms to the U.S. raids
06:15and it also demanded respect for due process.
06:40And in St. Vincent and the Granadins, 2025, Vince de Maas' celebrations continue with one of the Carnival's most awaited events.
06:59And in St. Vincent and the Granadins, 2025, Vince de Maas' celebrations continue with one of the Carnival's most awaited events.
07:09The Steel Band competition from Kingston, our special envoy, Belen de los Santos, has more on this year's contest.
07:16Let's see.
07:21Steel Band competition is a must at Vince's Carnival, and people have come out to Victoria Park for one of the week's highlights.
07:30It's a night of pants and costumes at the Steel and Glitter show, as the bands give their all before a cheering crowd.
07:39I think about the most energetic festival in the region, in the world.
07:44We don't party like nobody else out there.
07:47We go non-stop.
07:49The type of energy and pace we bring is unmatched.
07:52The energy is high at the Panorama competition, as the performers embody their favorite soccer vibes.
08:02The lights flash, the rhythmic steel beats in all its glory, and the judges pay close attention to detail.
08:09That song is just an energetic song, and our band really is known as the vibes band, or the energy band.
08:17So I had to put that kind of arrangement into it, that kind of work to bring out the same energy that the original song had, and to make sure the players have a good time while executing it.
08:26It means so much to me that I have these young people who are willing to allow me to teach them, take on all the stress that I did them, and to have this art from continuing.
08:39So the younger ones have to take it along, and they have to take it on when I'm gone.
08:43The younger generations have a place in Panorama, as they take their first steps in the bands, following the lead of their teachers and discovering a whole world of Caribbean culture.
08:54To be honest, I didn't feel like myself. I kept moving. I'm mostly, I'm the shy person.
09:00And after I saw, like, the people in the crowd, I said, OK, let's put on a performance, and I started to dance.
09:07I didn't feel like if it was my body, and I felt my body moving all over the place.
09:13My favorite part was when the sparks lit up, they just made me feel a kind of way, excited.
09:18Just like Soca and Calypso, the steel drums bring the Caribbean together in a celebration of regional culture, as performers from other lands also take part in Binsimas, seeking to obtain the highest titles.
09:32My family is a musical family. I'm not from St. Vincent, I'm from Trinidad and Tobago.
09:36So we make our steel plan, and it's a pleasure to be here for the 14th year with this wonderful band, Stalip, Sealer Pisture.
09:44And we just come out on fun tonight, enjoy it, take the title. We're looking for the attractor tonight, and we're getting it.
09:49In Kingstown, the celebration continues as local identity and tradition take front stage, captivating everyone.
09:57That is the spirit of Binsimas.

10:31Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro accused Friday the U.S. government and its European allies of supremacists and reiterated that such ideology has no room in the 21st century.
10:42The statement was made during the inauguration of the International Book Fair, which will be held in Caracas until July 13th.
10:50The event was especially attended by the ambassador of Egypt, Karem Amin, and Venezuelan officials, intellectuals and politicians.
10:58During his speech, Maduro insisted that for over 600 years, the great empires have tried to submit peoples to models of hegemonic domination, slavery and exploitation.
11:10The Bolivarian leader also called the peoples of the world to question the hegemonic narratives of the West and to build one of their own based on their history and to stand critically against Eurocentric visions.
11:23And Eurocentrism, when it had London as its axis, or when it had other centers, and today it has Washington as its epicenter, the United States tried to raise the supremacism of its race,
11:48or its model or its culture, for the rest of humanity to submit, often in the name of a religion, to models of domination, hegemony, slavery, and exploitation.
12:07On Friday, 213 Venezuelan migrants arrived in the country from the United States as part of the Back to the Homeland Plan, an initiative promoted by President Nicolás Maduro.
12:18The repatriated migrants arrived at the Simón Bolivar International Airport.
12:22State security agencies' officials received them there.
12:26Outside it is informed that the latest group was made up of 163 men, 40 women, and 10 minors, who would soon be reunited with their relatives.
12:38This action is part of the humanitarian policies implemented by the Venezuelan government to protect the rights of its citizens inside and outside the country.
12:48The Venezuelan and Colombian governments reaffirmed their willingness to strengthen cooperation for their mutual benefit.
13:02Venezuelan Vice President Delcy Rodriguez held a meeting with Colombian Mines and Energy Minister Edwin Palma with the purpose of strengthening collaboration in hydrocarbons.
13:12During the meeting, Delcy Rodriguez was accompanied by Petróleos, the Venezuelan president, Ertor Obregón, Colombia's ambassador to Caracas, Milton Renjifo, and his Venezuelan counterpart in Bogotá, Carlos Martínez.
13:25In Brazil, Finance Minister Fernando Haddad met on Thursday with his counterparts from China and Russia to agree on the strengthening of the bilateral financial dialogue on the eve of the BRICS leaders' meeting.
13:46Haddad received the Finance Ministers of China and Russia, Lanfuan and Anton Silvanov, and they agreed to a memorandum for financial cooperation at the bilateral and multilateral levels.
13:59Brazil reaffirmed its commitment to the 2025 World Climate Summit and backed the fund to preserve tropical forests.
14:06On Friday and Saturday, Rio de Janeiro will host the first meeting of the Finance Ministers of the BRICS and the 10th annual meeting of the Board of Governors of the New Development Bank.
14:24In this context, the Brazilian Navy announced that naval patrols and maritime control activities will be reinforced in key areas along the Rio de Janeiro coast before the BRICS summit.
14:35Seven military units will also be in charge of securing the access roads and the surroundings of the Museum of Modern Art and the Marina da Gloria, where the high-level meeting will take place.
14:48The BRICS summit will take place on July 6th and 7th in Rio de Janeiro, bringing together heads of state of the 11 member countries, together with invited partners.
15:05In Tanzania, Prime Minister Kassim Mahalewa announced he will not seek re-election in October's parliamentary polls.
15:15Mahalewa had earlier said he would defend his seat for a fourth term, but made the surprise announcement on Wednesday.
15:23Appointed Prime Minister in 2015, Mahalewa was seen as a potential successor to the late President John Magufuli.
15:31He remained in office under President Samia Sulu-Hu Hassan, who is seeking re-election under the ruling Shamashah Madinduzi Party.
15:41Political analysts suggest Mahalewa's departure could be part of an effort to balance regional and religious representation in government.

16:17Welcome back to From the South.
16:32In France, outside it is called on airlines to cancel hundreds of flights amidst the second day of air traffic controllers' strike.
16:39The Civil Aviation General Directorate asked local airline companies to reduce by 40% their flight schedules to the country's two main airports, Charles de Gaulle and Orly in Paris.
16:51On the first day of strike, almost 1,000 routes were cancelled, so it is estimated that the number of passengers affected could be approximately 300,000.
17:00Unions demand better working conditions and increased staffing.
17:09At least 45 people were injured in Italy when an explosion occurred at a gas station southwest of Rome.
17:21According to police sources, the initial explosion occurred around 8 a.m. local time in the Prenestino neighborhood, which is located southwest of the capital.
17:30So far, 45 people have been injured, including nine police officers and a firefighter.
17:35Initial hypothesis suggested that firefighters were alerted by a truck that hit a gas pipe.
17:42When they arrived on the scene, a strong blast occurred.
17:45This was preceded by smaller explosions, which caused a column of black smoke and a large fire that firefighters are trying to control.
17:53It is estimated that the number of injured individuals may increase.
17:57Serbian President Aleksandar Buzic urged people not to block roads in the country, namely in the Belgrade city.
18:13In this regard, the leader stated that recent rallies hampered the right to free transit and disturbed the daily life of ordinary citizens.
18:21Likewise, the head of state asserted that his government sought to guarantee the freedom of the population, but it would not put up with riots which destroyed the state foundations.
18:32The president warned the effort set grounded in the fact that unauthorized mobilizations by opposition sectors have continued since June 28th to demand the release of detainees,
18:43the holding of early elections, and that supporters of the Buzic administration dismantled a camp in front of parliament.
18:50A multiple power outage has hit several regions of the Czech Republic on Friday.

19:11In addition, it brought about the suspension of trains, subways and streetcars.
19:16The power outage further affected an important part of the substations of the transmission system, from where it was estimated that the electrical failure esteemed.
