The final report on last year’s sinkhole incident at Jalan Masjid India in Kuala Lumpur, which claimed the life of an Indian tourist, is expected to be presented to the Cabinet by the end of 2024.

Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Federal Territories) Datuk Seri Dr Zaliha Mustafa on Thursday (July 3) said the report is under review after being recently received.

00:32The sinkhole swallowed up 48-year-old Indian tourist Vijaya Lechemi, who was walking in the area at the time.
00:40Search operations were called off after nine days due to safety concerns,
00:44especially after a second sinkhole was discovered nearby.
00:47The affected site was fully reopened to the public in December 2024
00:51following the completion of repair and safety works.
