00:00We decided to stay in Chiapas and Mexico on the way home.
00:05I wish we had stayed longer, but for the few days that we did stay,
00:10we had found several locations that we had wanted to visit.
00:15I like it like that. That's the softer one that's the harder one.
00:20Me and Mom are going to have the softer one.
00:22I like the harder one, too.
00:24Yeah, I like it like that.
00:27Oh, okay. Ethan's.
00:29Yeah, that is cool.
00:31There's no one to mention this one, actually.
00:33It's all like that one.
00:39I like the harder one's best, but I like that one.
00:41I like the harder one.
00:43I like the softer one.
00:45You're not going to feed Ethan?
00:47No.
00:49No one's going to feed Ethan?
00:51Gracias.
00:53Mommy, the difference between the films that I'm talking about.
00:57But with our limited time, we chose to see Misalhau waterfalls,
01:01located just 30 minutes to the south of Palenque.
01:05We enjoyed the falls, of course,
01:07but we liked the atmosphere of going down to the river,
01:10away from the crowd,
01:12and just enjoy the surrounding views.
01:15Weighed in the river with clear waters.
01:19The cost of entry was 20 pesos for parking,
01:22and 50 peso entries fee per person,
01:25about 11 U.S. dollars for the day.
01:29At the bottom of the falls is a nice place to take a swim.
01:47There are a little more tourists around,
01:49but still not over the crowded.
01:51Just driving through the countryside to these places,
01:59had some very nice views of the surrounding jungles.
02:03The next on the list is Roberto Barrios Cascadas.
02:21Located about 45 minutes south of Palenque,
02:25these cascades were closer to us than the more notable Aquarazool waterfalls,
02:31which is an hour and 20 minutes south of Palenque.
02:35We chose Roberto Barrios over Aquarazool,
02:39because it's less touristy.
02:41A course closer, and cost less for entry.
02:45The cost of entry to Roberto Barrios was 30 pesos each.
02:49There was plenty of places to swim,
02:52plenty of places to explore.
02:54We really enjoyed our day here.
02:56If we had more time,
02:57we would return probably over and over again
03:00to this location.
03:30Let's go.
04:00Let's go.
04:30Let's go.
04:40Palenque Mayan Runes was next on our list of places to go.
04:44Just 10 minutes outside of town, these rooms are a must-see.
04:49Cost of entry is 200 pesos, that includes the park and the rooms, about 10 U.S. dollars.
04:55These rooms are dated to 226 B.C.
05:05Only a small percentage of this site has been uncovered, with over 80% of it still uncovered.
05:10The structure in the middle is known as the Tomb of the Red Queen, and the larger temple
05:18on the end is the Temple of Inscriptions, which houses the second longest hieroglyphic text
05:27known in the Mayan world.
05:33To the north of the site is the ball court, and just across from the ball court is the north
05:39structure.
05:40To the north of the country is a high-rise, the visitors and the members of the river.
05:52To the north of the river, the city is the largest in the north of the town.
07:04The Temple of the Count, which was named after Jean Frederick Waldeck, which lived in the structure for some time, and he had claimed to be a count.
07:46Just imagine, only 10-20% of Palenque ruins has been uncovered.
07:58There is still a lot to discover here.
08:02There is still a lot to discover here.
08:14We chose to stay in Palenque for the six nights that we had in this area.
08:36We liked the city, but we did not have time to really explore it.
08:41As I had mentioned, our time here was short.
08:44How many?
08:54Do you want two?
08:56How many?
09:08Do you want two?
09:10Yeah, I'll take two.
09:16Smells good.
09:20On one of the rainy days, we decided to go out and around Centro.
09:24We found a nice bakery just a few blocks from Centro.
09:28I think we were all hungry, and this place definitely filled the void.
09:32Does that have mold?
09:33No, no, no.
09:34It's just...
09:35Is that one?
09:36It's not, no.
09:37Okay.
09:38Just crash.
09:39Right.
09:40Right on the wall.
09:41Can you hold the tray?
09:42This one?
09:43Yeah.
09:44Put it in the middle.
09:45Looks good and smells good.

10:13Not only can you find good food in Chiapas, it is also a place to buy your fresh roasted coffee.
10:27It's very strong.
10:28This one is a mountain.
10:30Perfect mountain.
10:31It's cold.
10:32Yeah.

10:42We found this ice cream place just off Centro.
10:53If you're in Palenque and would like to give La Barica a try, I would definitely recommend
10:59it.
11:00Are you having two scoops or having two?
11:01Sure.
11:02How was that?

11:13How about one mango and one cajeta?
11:16Yeah.
11:17So we can share.
11:18See?

11:44Let me try your other favorite dish.
11:45So we get one, two, three double scoops.
11:49We was not able to find a place on Airbnb, but we found this place on booking.com.
12:07We had reserved the place for six nights.
12:11We was late coming in by one day, so it ended up being five nights that we had at the place.
12:17Two days it rained while we were there, so that only left three days of going about sightseeing.
12:23Next time we are in the area, we would stay a month or so.
12:26There is plenty to see in the state of Chiapas.
12:47Here we go.
