A desperate search for a man missing in the Nerang River near Chevron Island Bridge, off Ferny Ave, Surfers Paradise, ended in tragedy. Emergency services, including police, ambulance, surf lifeguards, a search and rescue boat, and a helicopter, were mobilized at 7:10am on July 3, 2025, following reports of a man struggling in the water. Witnesses saw him swimming in the canal before he went under and did not resurface.

Sadly, his body was recovered around 11:00am.

Our thoughts are with his loved ones during this heartbreaking time.
