00:00We got the Warriors, day three, free agency.
00:03Still waiting.
00:04Waiting on something.
00:06Waiting to scratch.
00:07Trades are hard.
00:07Speaking of waiting, we're waiting on that next Giants win.
00:11They lose last night 8-2.
00:13You said take the over.
00:14You can take the victory lap.
00:16I said take the over.
00:17What made you feel that?
00:20I have both pitchers on my fantasy team, and they've been struggling.
00:23Okay, there it is.
00:24One guy continued to struggle, and one guy didn't.
00:27And the over-under was 9-1⁄2.
00:29Jeff, so I know winner, winner, the smart money was taking my advice.
00:37Hey, we got action.
00:41Possibly.
00:42Possibly.
00:43You want Dame Lillard.
00:46Dame Lillard is essentially a free agent, and he's going to get paid.
00:52And so he gets to pick his team, essentially.
00:56And if the team wants him, it'll be that simple.
01:01Dame Lillard.
01:01Oakland's home.
01:03I'll tell you this, Stiney.
01:04When I left you all yesterday, I didn't want Dame because I was so focused and enamored with the immediate.
01:11And I thought, Dr. Darrell thought, you know, the medicals, which I don't have access to, Stiney.
01:16Coming back at all next year was off the table.
01:20But listening to Mark Spears, and I know we got the sound, we'll play it here shortly.
01:24I guess there's a shot he could come back all-star game.
01:27And if I left the studio yesterday, the Laughing Monk studios, telling you all, if you run it back and keep Kaminga and maybe add Al Horford, I'm okay with that.
01:37So, why wouldn't I be okay with a shooter, the caliber of Dame Dollar, a guy that can bring the ball up?
01:46We know what he is, and he could be your move at the deadline if you were able to play.
01:52So, I'm telling you right now, Matt Stimus, you ask me, I'm all in.
01:56But what I'm, I got PTSD, and you're going to say from what?
02:02From being told no when we thought guys could come here, and then Jimmy Butler, that was one for the chalk it up as the winners.
02:09We got somebody to come here.
02:11Yeah, it was a trade, and that worked out.
02:13But now I'm telling you, Stiney, I'm a little nervous if Dame didn't choose to come back.
02:17And you hear athletes always talk about playing in their hometown.
02:21He's from the town.
02:23You know, sometimes those can be distractions.
02:25But to answer your question, and quit being motor mouth, I would like to have Dame Lillard.
02:30And he comes back next year, and man, him and Steph on the perimeter, offensively, whoa.
02:38Offensively, whoa.
02:40Defensively, yikes.
02:43Listen, we did yesterday's show, and it just seems pretty clear that the Warriors' options are very limited.
02:52And, okay, I left that out.
02:55And to my way of thinking, if your options are limited, I texted this to Evan and you last night.
03:03I said, you know what?
03:05If you can swing it, go get Al Horford.
03:09All right.
03:10Go get Damian Lillard and re-sign Jonathan Kaminga.
03:14Let's go.
03:14If you could somehow do that.
03:17Do I love it?
03:18Not really.
03:18But, again, I'm operating from the premise of reality, where the Golden State Warriors are right now.
03:26And if Damian Lillard is coming back in March, sure.
03:32Yeah.
03:32Why not?
03:33But I think this is where we find out, or we'll find out, that I don't know why Damian Lillard would want to come here if he's got his choice of 30 teams in the NBA.
03:49That's the part that I need to know that he has interest here, and I'm not convinced that he does or that he would.
03:59And then we get into the whole situation of, well, why wouldn't Damian Lillard want to come here?
04:07Because it's home.
04:08And if that's something that's been on his bucket list, Donnie, you know, playing in front of, you know, fans and a team he grew up rooting for, I mean, that would be a dream come true.
04:19And I'm looking at Austin San Jose early in the chat.
04:21He's talking about, you know, Damian against these young NBA guards.
04:25That wouldn't work, but the bottom line is, what you texted us last night on the thread, if that were to come to fruition, Horford, you lose Looney, you re-sign JK, and you get Dame as the gift under the Christmas tree.
04:38Let's just say March.
04:40That is a better version.
04:42And you know what?
04:43That's not even running it back.
04:45Those are enhancements.
04:46Will they work?
04:47That I don't know.
04:49Look, the reason that I would be open to those kind of things is because there's not a move there that's a big risk.
04:59You sign Al Horford for a year.
05:02You sign Damian Lillard for negligible money because he's going to be making what he was set to make anyway.
05:10Yeah.
05:10So you'd have to somehow figure out a way.
05:13Well, you wouldn't have to figure out a way.
05:14You could just get Damian Lillard to come here, and if he wants to come here, you could get him here.
05:22Why would they want him?
05:24If you're the Warriors, they need players.
05:26Wow.
05:26They need players.
05:28He's an all-star.
05:29And I don't know what he's got left.
05:31I don't really, I don't know if he's an all-star anymore.
05:35I don't know how much he's got left.
05:38But if the stakes are extremely low, which they would be, no harm, no foul, as far as I'm concerned.
05:49Do I like Horford?
05:51I like him a little bit, but I don't like that he's 39.
05:54But if you're going to go down this road, then you're open to a move such as this.
06:01And let's just real quick here, leave Dame out of this.
06:03You lose Looney, and we love what he brought, Stiney, and if you were to get Horford, and I was just to throw it at you,
06:09are the Warriors a better basketball team just with that swap?
06:13What would you say?
06:13One more time, Gil.
06:14Adding Horford, losing Looney, re-signing J.K., are the Warriors a better basketball team than they were when they got sent home?
06:23I've got to put some respect on Tito's game.
06:26Marginally better?
06:27Marginally better?
06:30That's what I would say.
06:31Marginally better.
06:32But you also have to factor in, how are the big three going to be?
06:38Because if the big three, and I'm talking about Butler, Curry, and Draymond Green,
06:43if they all drop a notch, well, then you're not going to be better.
06:49But that's your reality.
06:51With moves or no moves, those are your guys.
06:53So I'm being proactive in that, hoping they don't drop a notch.
06:57Well, I mean, now, that's where you and I are different.
07:01I would go into next season assuming that they're not going to be better than last year because of their age.
07:09And I can't go into the season thinking that this is a team that was a 23-8 team in the regular season.
07:20But, like, I get if you do 23-8, Goo, that comes out the 50, mid-50 win-wise.
07:27I don't think they're a 55-win team.
07:29Yeah.
07:30Because you know what?
07:31We got into that.
07:33We did that a couple years ago when Draymond got suspended.
07:37And they won 48.
07:38And we had people saying, well, if Draymond doesn't get suspended, they'll win 52-54.
07:42I'm one of them.
07:42Yeah.
07:43All right.
07:43Well, you know, last year the Warriors won whatever they ended up winning.
07:49I don't know what they're going to win next year.
07:51But, you know, you've got to take into account that everybody's one year older in terms of their most important players.
07:57Now, and again, Sonny, I got in the sack last night and I thought, man, I want Dame.
08:03And I'm going to throw this at you and the listeners.
08:06I'm just thinking of the L.A. Lakers.
08:08We're not in L.A. doing L.A. radio.
08:10But the bottom line is Luka's lost weight.
08:12We know what he is as a basketball player.
08:14We know what LeBron is.
08:16My question to you is if you were Dame, would you look at the current state of the Laker roster compared to this Warrior roster?
08:25Would you think you had a better chance to win in L.A. with LeBron and Luka?
08:30If you were Dame.
08:32That's a good question.
08:32And I know they still got a dominant.
08:34You know, they can end up with Horford or Hurford.
08:36I would say yes.
08:37Only because.
08:38For the Lakers.
08:39Yes.
08:39Okay.
08:40Because they have a superstar that's younger than everybody else.
08:44By the way, we've got some breaking news somewhat.
08:46Mike Brown.
08:48Mike Brown.
08:49He got the Knicks job.
08:50Michael.
08:51Mike Brown, new head coach of the New York Knicks.
08:53Who saw everyone to give me a victory lap, but I don't want to take it, E.
08:58Well, would you have taken one for Mark Jackson?
09:01I would have.
09:01Would you have taken one for Dawn Staley?
09:04Would you have taken one for Mike Malone?
09:06No.
09:06Would you have taken one for Nick Nurse?
09:08I would have hired Michael Malone.
09:10Okay.
09:10But I'm not Mike Brown.
09:11I didn't see it.
09:12I guess I did.
09:13Evan, shh.
09:14They're trying to give you credit, but good for Mike.
09:17He's back.
09:18Yeah, Mike.
09:18Find that Harley in New York.
09:20Yeah, Mike Brown, new head coach of the New York Knicks.
09:24What's it called when you get fired and you get a better job?
09:27A promotion?
09:28Nice.
09:30Mike's going to wilt in New York.
09:31You got fired up?
09:33Mike's going to wilt in New York, though.
09:36I love him.
09:36I know you're playing.
09:37Not made for that city.
09:39Some people can make it in New York.
09:41Some people can't.
09:42He was in Cleveland.
09:44Exactly.
09:45Good luck for Mike.
09:46I wish nothing but Mike Brown.
09:48And the black coach and delegation.
09:50Yeah, chalk one up.
09:51Yeah.
09:51He came back.
09:52He resurfaced.
09:53I mean, the question that I, I mean, why would Damian Lillard, other than coming home?
10:00That's a lot of it.
10:01Drake.
10:02Coming home.
10:02I'm going home.
10:03Yeah, I don't think that's a big part of it.
10:06For most players, I don't think it's a huge deal.
10:08I hope it's not a bad thing because they say, Stani, I've talked to the likes of Gary Payton.
10:13I've heard them talk about this, you know, the things that go with it when you're playing in your home city.
10:17You know, distractions, you know?
10:19So, hopefully he'll look at this like, this is something I want to do.
10:23I want to be alongside Steph.
10:25So, I'm all in.
10:27And it's like you're balling on a budget, Stani.
10:29You've never been there because you've got deep pockets.
10:31But when you want something and you can't afford it, you take what you can and you appreciate it.
10:36But you're always like, it's better than nothing.
10:39And if you could get the Dame and he's healthy.
10:42Well, he's not healthy.
10:43Why did I leave here thinking he wasn't playing all next year?
10:45Because he probably isn't.
10:47Wow, man.
10:48He probably isn't.
10:50But it would be minimal, right?
10:52The price would be minimal.
10:53So, what do you got to lose for him to come back if he didn't play at all next year?
10:57You got him in the oven.
10:59Hey, Evan.
11:00Failing upward?
11:02Is that what?
11:03That's the one.
11:03Yeah.
11:05408-925.
11:07Failing upward.
11:07That ever happened to you?
11:08If you ever get fired and then you end up in a better situation.
11:12Yeah.
11:12All the time.
11:13Because if you get fired, that's inherent that you're in an awful situation when you get fired.
11:20So, anytime you get fired, there are better things to come.
11:24That's the way I look at it.
11:28He got fired from what?
11:30Sacramento?
11:31Where was he before?
11:32Yeah.
11:32Sacramento.
11:33Sacramento.
11:34And Cleveland.
11:34Told you.
11:35Yeah.
11:35And L.A.
11:37Exactly.
11:37So, after like four games.
11:39He's now with the New York.
11:41Got a good team.
11:42Yeah.
11:42They've added some stuff.
11:43I like it.
11:44Yeah.
11:44Clarkson.
11:45I'm not crazy about where they're at.
11:46Evan, what's my guy's name?
11:47Big Butt from Philly.
11:49Gioboli.
11:49What's?
11:50Yabba Salee.
11:51Yabba Salee.
11:52Yabba.
11:52Yabba Dabba Doo.
11:53Yabba Salee.
11:54Okay.
11:54Okay.
11:54Okay.
11:54Okay.
11:54Okay.
11:54Okay.
11:54Okay.
11:54Okay.
11:54Okay.
11:54Okay.
11:54Okay.
11:56Okay.
11:56Okay.
11:56Okay.
11:58Okay.
11:58Okay.
11:58Okay.
12:00Okay.
12:02Okay.
12:04Okay.
12:04Okay.
