00:08The Story of the Birth of Jesus
00:14Years ago, in the days when Herod was king of Judea,
00:20God sent the angel Gabriel to Nazareth in Galilee
00:24to a virgin named Mary.
00:28Angel Gabriel came to Mary and gave her a message from God
00:32that a child would be born to her.
00:36This message was surprising to Mary, but she was attentive
00:40and obedient. Angel Gabriel informed
00:44Mary that she was to name the child Jesus
00:48for He would be the Son of God and rule over
00:52Israel forever. Mary said,
00:56My soul magnifies the Lord,
01:00and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior.
01:04Mary, who was engaged to her soon-to-be husband Joseph,
01:10was surprised and confused to how a child of God would be born to her.
01:14When she told Joseph, he did not believe Mary's story.
01:20He was confused and hurt.
01:22How can this story be true?
01:24That an angel told Mary that she will have a Son of God.
01:28Joseph was also worried that Mary was expecting a baby before their marriage had taken place.
01:36At night, Joseph thought to himself to divorce Mary quietly.
01:40But then an angel appeared to Joseph in a dream
01:44and assured Joseph that the child in Mary's womb was the Son of God,
01:50who would save his people from their sins.
01:54The angel told Joseph to take Mary as his wife and name the child Jesus.
02:00When Joseph awoke from his dream, he did all that the angel commanded.
02:06When the time of the birth drew near,
02:12Mary and Joseph had to travel to Bethlehem because of an order from the Roman Emperor
02:18that a census would be taken in their hometown to count people.
02:22Joseph took the pregnant Mary and they traveled on a donkey for several days.
02:28It was not an easy journey on Mary.
02:32Soon they arrived in Bethlehem and looked for a place to stay.
02:36But they were told that the inns were full,
02:39as many travelers were in town for the census.
02:43There were no places to stay.
02:47Seeing that Mary was due at any moment,
02:50an owner of an inn told Joseph that they could stay in his stable.
02:54Mary and Joseph settled down on the hay in the stables and surrounded by animals.
03:00It was not long that Mary went into labor,
03:05and in the place where the animals slept,
03:08Mary gave birth to Jesus.
03:11Jesus was born in the stable in Bethlehem.
03:14Baby Jesus was laid in a manger which is an animal's trough,
03:18and the sleeping baby Jesus, the Son of God, rested in the manger.
03:24Now, when Jesus was born, a brand new bright star appeared in the sky.
03:31During this time, an angel appeared to three shepherds who were watching their flocks in the fields near Bethlehem.
03:41The angel told them the good news of the birth of the Savior and Messiah, Jesus Christ.
03:50The shepherds saw a shining star in the sky, and the shepherds immediately followed the star as they went to find baby Jesus.
04:02The star led them to where baby Jesus was laid in a manger.
04:06The shining star rested over where Jesus was born.
04:11The shepherds knelt and worshipped the Savior, and gave him gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh.
04:19The birth of Jesus is celebrated yearly at Christmastime.
04:24Baby Jesus was Son of God, made man to save mankind.
