00:00Welcome to Ms. Mojo, and today we're counting down our picks for the roller coasters that
00:11are so thrilling that it's hard to believe they were actually constructed.
00:15Kingda Ka is the definition of extreme height.
00:17There are none taller.
00:18It is the king of tall rides.
00:2210.
00:23Escape from Krypton, United States
00:27With how super-powered their reference is, it only makes sense that an attraction centered
00:32around the Man of Steel would be just as impressive.
00:35Superman, Escape from Krypton.
00:37Paul's pounding peril has just taken a giant leap.
00:41Superman, Escape from Krypton used to be one of the most unique coasters around.
00:46It's deceptively simple and appears to be a single drop.
00:49The experience, however, proves naysayers wrong.
00:52Oh my god!
00:57Those aboard were shot up the 400-foot track at 100 miles per hour.
01:02They were then held at the top at a 90-degree angle for several seconds before rolling back down.
01:08For that brief moment, they would feel like they were flying, not unlike the hero himself.
01:13Though it was shut down in 2025, it still entertained guests for over a quarter century,
01:19proving that looks can be deceiving, even when it comes to rides.
01:23Oh my god!
01:24Number 9.
01:25Formula Rosa, United Arab Emirates.
01:28If you've ever wanted to combine the experience of being a NASCAR driver and flying,
01:33then this ride is for you.
01:35Supposed to recreate the experience of being in a Formula One Ferrari.
01:40Debuting in 2010, this Abu Dhabi coaster immediately made history as the fastest in the world.
01:46Formula Rosa is ready for its first launch out of Ferrari World Abu Dhabi.
01:51Let's see how it runs.
01:52The speed tops out at just under 150 miles per hour,
01:56with the launch mechanism ensuring they hit 100 in the first two seconds.
02:01And off they go.
02:02Riders get blasted from zero to almost 150 miles per hour.
02:06As if that wasn't enough, the track is over a mile long,
02:10giving guests a prolonged experience they'll never forget.
02:14The combination of the intense pace and potential exposure to the elements
02:18has made safety goggles a mandatory inclusion while riding.
02:21It's a minute and a half of pure excitement and intensity,
02:25making it a holy grail for most rollercoaster superfans.
02:31Number 8.
02:36The Smiler, United Kingdom.
02:38The name may lead you to believe this is a docile ride.
02:42In reality, it's anything but.
02:45Located in the United Kingdom, the Smiler is intentionally disorienting.
02:50It holds the world record for the most times per ride where guests are thrown upside down,
02:55with a staggering 14 in total.
02:57You belong to the Smiler.
02:59The Smiler, the world's first 14-looping rollercoaster.
03:01From the moment it takes off, guests are spun around in the dark before being catapulted into the main event.
03:07The combination of rolls, loops, and sidewinders is enough to make anyone's head spin.
03:18It even has a false pause, making you think you've made it through before sending you into the somehow more intense second half,
03:26complete with sea serpent and cobra rolls.
03:29It's the experience of a lifetime.
03:31We just recommend waiting to eat until after you're done.
03:35Amazing.
03:36Oh, wow.
03:37Number 7.
03:39Shambhala, Spain.
03:41Tall coasters aren't limited to one area of the world.
03:44Spain boasts the largest in all of Europe,
03:47with this one's longest drop coming in at just over 250 feet.
03:52Discover Europe's highest rollercoaster.
03:54That's only the tip of the iceberg.
03:57Attendees move at breakneck speeds,
03:59as they're taken through tiny tunnels and woven between the tracks of the attraction,
04:04before culminating in a drop that ends in an epic splashdown.
04:13While the thrills are great on their own,
04:15it also boasts a gorgeous view of the area around the park,
04:19particularly at the top of the first hill.
04:21This gives guests a moment of serenity before launching them into three minutes of pure chaos.
04:32Number 6.
04:34Millennium Force, United States.
04:36This is one of the most popular rollercoasters running today,
04:40and it's clear to see why.
04:41Built in 2000, the Millennium Force was dubbed the world's first gigacoaster,
04:46which is characterized by a drop of at least 300 feet.
04:50First hill, 310 feet, 310 feet, the drop, 300 feet, falling towards Earth at 80 degrees.
05:00Unlike some others that tease riders with a pause at the top of the first hill,
05:04this one pulls no punches.
05:06It immediately goes over and takes guests on the thrill of a lifetime,
05:10complete with sudden angle changes, tunnels, and wide loops.
05:13Now, you plummet straight down at 93 miles per hour, screaming at the top of your lungs.
05:20While it may not technically be the tallest or fastest option out there,
05:24it's proof that those factors don't need to be dialed up to an 11 in order to be thrilling.
05:29Return to the station.
05:32Breathe.
05:33Number 5.
05:34Steel Dragon 2000
05:36Japan.
05:39Steel Dragon.
05:40Some records are harder to break than others.
05:43Others may have surpassed this one in height and speed since its debut in 2000,
05:48but it has something they'll never have, a seemingly endless track.
05:52Coming in at over 8,000 feet,
05:54the Steel Dragon 2000 comfortably holds the title for the longest roller coaster in the world.
06:00At 8,133 feet, roughly the length of eight Eiffel Towers,
06:06it's the world's longest coaster.
06:08As a result, the ride lasts four whole minutes,
06:11but we can guarantee you won't be bored.
06:14With multiple 200-foot hills and a corkscrew pattern to the track,
06:18it's made to keep people guessing the entire time.
06:21And if it's your first go-round,
06:23we defy you to anticipate what's around each corner.
06:26Once you get a load of the vertical drop, you're about to plunge down.
06:30Number 4.
06:31Fury 325, United States.
06:34Any ride can be tall or fast.
06:36However, it takes a different beast entirely to play with the attendee's mind.
06:41Fury 325 seems to have been designed to be as daunting as possible,
06:46from the intense 320-foot drop to a track that carries you to the outermost edges of the park,
06:52including hurling you over the entrance.
06:54For a moment, guests will even find themselves being momentarily taken over state lines into South Carolina.
07:06That's without mentioning the sheer amount of high drops, sharp angles, and illuminated sections.
07:12For first-timers, there's no way to tell what will happen next,
07:19making for an experience that's sure to be anything but boring.
07:23The coaster won the title for the seventh consecutive year.
07:26Amusement Today presented the award.
07:29Fury 325 is one of the world's tallest and most popular roller coasters.
07:33Number 3.
07:34Takabisha, Japan.
07:36Angles aren't exactly a new concept for roller coasters to play around with.
07:41Many will incorporate 90-degree drops into their design,
07:44which is already daunting enough for new riders.
07:47Takabisha in Japan makes those look like child's play.
07:51It starts out by sending you into a pitch-black section that has its own variety of drops and loops.
07:57Then, you're shot outside to face a series of inversions,
08:00making you adequately dizzy before taking you to the main event,
08:04a dizzying 120-degree angle drop almost 150 feet in the air.
08:10It's so steep that the track curves inwards as you head down.
08:14For good measure, it ends things on another series of loops.
08:17There is hardly a moment of respite, making it perfect for thrill-seekers.
08:22Number 2.
08:23Eijanaika, Japan.
08:25If you thought the layout to any of these other coasters was confusing,
08:29then you may want to sit down for this one.
08:32Eijanaika takes some of the best components of other rides
08:35and elevates them to an even more intense experience,
08:38essentially creating the final boss of roller coasters.
08:41From the 360-degree seats on the X2 to the sheer amount of inversions on the Smiler,
08:48this is a Franken-ride in the best way possible.
08:51From being spun around backwards to emulate a backflip
08:54to being sent through a series of twists and turns,
08:57even the most seasoned amusement park attendees will need a minute after riding this.
09:02Before we unveil our top pick, here are a few honorable mentions.
09:06X2, United States.
09:09Each car has its own 360-degree axis,
09:12ensuring a slightly new experience each time.
09:15X2 spins under the track and dangles them
09:19as it launches into a high-speed horseshoe turn.
09:22Dododonpa, Japan.
09:24Launched riders at 112 miles per hour in less than 2 seconds.
09:28Gravity Maxx, Taiwan.
09:35Takes guests to the edge of a track
09:37before tilting them down 90 degrees onto another one.
09:44Pantherian, United States.
09:47The first turn was so intense that some would black out while riding.
09:50Inspired by Dale Earnhardt,
09:52it's the biggest, baddest, meanest coaster on the East Coast,
09:56a bidding tribute to the world's greatest driver.
09:59Hyperion, Poland.
10:01With banked turns, hills, and high speeds,
10:03this is guaranteed to keep you on your toes.

10:23and switch on notifications.
10:26Number 1.
10:28Kingda Ka, United States.
10:30It may be gone, but it will never be forgotten.
10:34In the United States,
10:35only a few come close to Kingda Ka,
10:38which once held records
10:39as both the fastest and tallest coaster in the world.
10:43It's not only the fastest coaster in the country,
10:46but at 456 feet high,
10:48it's also the tallest coaster in the world.
10:51The initial 418 foot drop is so high
10:54that sometimes the cars wouldn't get enough momentum
10:57to go over and instead roll back down,
11:00which is a terrifying experience on its own.
11:03Make it over that hump, however,
11:05and you were treated to a slight corkscrew effect
11:07as you hurtled towards the ground.
11:09It was proof that you don't need tons of bells and whistles
11:18to make a hair-raising ride.
11:20It was demolished in 2025,
11:22but its legacy will live on
11:24in the hearts of thrill-seekers forever.
11:26The ride is over,
11:27but 59 seconds of Kingda Ka
11:29have left a lasting impression.
11:32Oh my god, that was intense.
