We see plenty of signature guitar models here at Guitar World, but none of them are quite like Martin’s 000JR-10E Shawn Mendes acoustic.  The model, as Guitar World Tech Editor Paul Riario points out, is “inspired by Shawn’s go-to vintage Martin and features his own personal hallmarks. What’s more, it’s environmentally-friendly.”

00:31This edition is crafted with a 100% FSC or otherwise known as Forest Stewardship Council

00:38Certified Tonewoods in a Triple O Junior-sized and comes with a striking blue gig bag made

00:45from a 100% recycled post-consumer polyester meeting the global recycled standard.

00:55The Shawn Mendes Signature Edition marks the largest production run of a 100% FSC certified

01:10guitar that Martin has ever fulfilled and obviously the first time a Martin guitar has

01:15been paired with a gig bag made from 100% recycled post-consumer polyester. As you can see, the

01:21Junior size and Triple O body depth make this guitar extremely comfortable for any player and if you

01:27don't know, Triple O Junior size is slightly smaller than Martin's regular Triple O size. And with Fishman

01:34Sonotone Electronics included, it is also ready for the stage. For fans of Shawn Mendes, you'll appreciate

01:40and notice this signature guitar includes some personal design details. Laser etched on each wing of the bridge is a

01:46swallow inspired by the tattoo on Shawn's right hand which signifies always returning home. There's also

01:54song lyrics laser etched inside the body. For example, you might find one laser etched on a brace or under the

02:01bridge or even under the rosette. Some of the phrases include, we lay under the same stars or you'll never be alone.

02:08Each instrument comes with a special label featuring the Shawn Mendes Foundation Sunburst logo. And to

02:21finish it off, Shawn's signature is inlaid at the top of the fretboard. What's important to note is Shawn

02:27Mendes wanted a guitar that addressed his passion for sustainability and supports his foundation's

02:31initiatives. As part of the partnership, Martin Guitars will be supporting Mendes' goal of making music,

02:38accessible accessible to everyone. Martin will be making a contribution to the Wonder of Music program at the

02:43Hospital for Sick Children, Sick Kids, presented by the Shawn Mendes Foundation.

02:50The Martin Triple O Junior Tenny Shawn Mendes is a wonderfully great playing guitar that is portable, sounds great,

02:56and supports a great cause. At a retail price of $799, this acoustic is within reach for enthusiasts and

03:03novice guitarists alike. I would also add my impression of this acoustic is that it follows in the same vein

03:10as the Martin Ed Sheeran model in its compactness and approachable playability that you can take

03:16anywhere from home or to the studio and the stage. Definitely check it out.
