This is the Met Office UK Weather forecast for the week ahead 30/06/2025. Into July, temperatures will decrease but remaining warm for many. However more cloud and showers for some. Bringing you this week’s weather forecast is Honor Criswick.
00:00Hello there and welcome to your week ahead forecast. It's been a very hot end to June, but is there a change on its way for the beginning of July?
00:08Well, to start off with, let's take a look at the bigger picture and take a look at some of our air mass temperatures too.
00:14Still plenty of oranges and reds on the chart, so we're still very warm for the next 24 hours or so.
00:20But notice as this system drifts its way south and southeast with some lighter colours moving in on the chart, so some fresher feeling air is on its way.
00:28But nevertheless, it is set to be another warm, muggy night, particularly across the southeast, where some localised spots may not even drop below 20 degrees Celsius.
00:37This is what we call a tropical night.
00:39But there is some fresher air feeding into the far north, where things will feel a little bit cooler as we head into Tuesday morning.
00:46And this is where it will be a little brighter too, across western parts of Scotland, northern Ireland.
00:51But notice there's plenty of cloud across eastern parts of Scotland, northern England, even across parts of Wales,
00:57where we could see some showers develop, possibly some heavy showers.
01:01But across the south and southeast, wall-to-wall blue skies for many areas.
01:05But it is still set to be particularly hot around London, Sussex and Kent, parts of East Anglia.
01:11And this may trigger some heavy showers into the afternoon, possibly once again seeing some thunderstorms.
01:16But these likely to be quite localised if they do take place.
01:20The sunshine's starting to turn a little hazier too across southern Wales, parts of Devon and Cornwall,
01:24just as some high cloud drifts in.
01:26But it should remain largely dry here.
01:28But with those hot temperatures, we are set to see some quite high UV levels, particularly across the southeast.
01:34But even where we see the cloud linger on, UV's levels still set to be around moderate.
01:39So do take care in the sunshine tomorrow in particular.
01:43Now, later Tuesday into Wednesday, notice these red colours across the southeast eventually drifting their way eastwards.
01:49More yellow drifting in just towards the northeastern flank of that high.
01:53But still plenty of cloud around eastern areas.
01:56That could lead to quite a murky start, particularly around eastern coastal counties, parts of the southeast.
02:01And this cloud likely thick enough at times to produce some showers, particularly once again across East Anglia, Sussex, St. Kent, northeast England,
02:09where once again they could be heavy.
02:10Now, they push their way eastwards into the North Sea, but a return of the showers across the northwest.
02:16So northern Ireland, parts of Scotland, starting to see more and more cloud through the course of the day.
02:20And once again, a chance we could see the odd heavier shower.
02:23But definitely feeling fresher across the north, more of a breeze here.
02:27But still warm across the south and southeast.
02:30But notice those temperatures have gone down if we compare them to Tuesday.
02:33In fact, many areas are likely to see a good eight to nine degrees difference.
02:37So, yes, still warm where you see the sunshine, but it's not going to feel quite as muggy, quite as uncomfortable,
02:42particularly across the southeast as we head into Wednesday.
02:46Then after that, high pressure still largely dominating, ridging its way across parts of the UK.
02:52But it does still drift in a frontal system on its northern flank.
02:56So more cloud pushing in here.
02:58Still further showers, particularly across western parts of Scotland, perhaps even western parts of Northern Ireland.
03:03We'll start to see that cloud fill the skies more and more across northern parts of England.
03:07Parts of Wales, too, where once again you could see some showers.
03:10But the main shower risk is going to be across the far north of Scotland, where once again they could be heavy.
03:15But otherwise, fairly similar temperatures to Tuesday.
03:18Still that fresher feeling air across the north.
03:20But even here, temperatures still in the mid to high teens.
03:23So still fairly pleasant.
03:24And moving into the mid-20s across the south and southeast and central parts of England as well.
03:30So still warm in the sunshine, perhaps a bit more of a breeze, just making things feel a bit more pleasant.
03:35Now later on into Thursday and into Friday, still once again high pressure being the dominant force, particularly across the south.
03:42So remaining largely settled here.
03:44But still once again it manages to drift in a frontal system across the north.
03:47So we really end up with that north-south split by the end of the week.
03:51Some wet and windy weather drifting in across Scotland, Northern Ireland.
03:55Once again some heavy and quite blustery outbreaks possible by the time we reach Friday.
03:59And temperatures still in the mid to high teens here, but that obviously being offset by the unsettled weather.
04:04But elsewhere, fairly similar conditions to Wednesday and Thursday.
04:09Largely dry, settled temperatures in the mid-20s.
04:12Perhaps some more high cloud creating hazy conditions at times.
04:15But otherwise, a rather pleasant end to the week.
04:18And we'll start to see that theme continue into Friday.
04:21Frontal systems still drifting in from the northwest.
04:23So it's likely going to bring in some more cloud, possibly some rain, some showery outbreaks for the beginning of the weekend.
