00:00Yes, I'm Ranjit Singh. I'm the CTO for Link Technologies and a co-founder.
00:07Our technology basically looks at energy consumption inside a built environment
00:11and we reduce energy consumption as well as doing predictive maintenance
00:15and reward people for going green, pretty much.
00:18Oh, so it is green indeed.
00:20It is, yes, it is, yes.
00:21And then if you could introduce yourself, green.
00:24So I'm Audra Roos and I'm the CEO of the same company
00:27and on the same journey and bringing, hopefully, our innovation
00:31and, you know, our great technology to the environment.
00:36So how do you feel that you have won this award?
00:40Yeah, I mean, it's our first award ever.
00:43It's always a good one.
00:44So it's fantastic.
00:45And I wasn't expecting, so I was filming the awards thinking,
00:48oh, yeah, great, they're winning.
00:49We didn't come here to win.
00:50We came here to make a difference and to springboard our technology
00:55to showcase, you know, what we can do.
00:59We wasn't expecting to win, so it was a bit of a surprise, really.
01:02It was a massive surprise.
01:03So where have you come from originally then?
01:06We're from London originally.
01:08London.
01:08Well, I'm French.
01:10But the company is UK-based and then we are going international,
01:14so this is our first international assignment.
01:17Yay.
01:17And you've won an award!
01:18Exactly, which is great.
01:20But, you know, going back to how we feel, it's just sometimes it feels a bit lonely
01:25when you've found a company and you've got, you know, that great idea
01:29and even your products and you're really fighting to get people to see your vision,
01:34you know, and you get rejections and, you know, all that stuff.
01:38And you feel like, oh, my God, is anybody listening?
01:41You know, we really have this great thing.
01:43Like, I'm the only one that sees that.
01:45And so when, you know, getting this award is so amazing because what it is
01:52is the recognition from people to say, hey, we see your technology,
01:57we see what you've done, we want some of it,
02:00and we share that vision that you've presented us.
02:03That's what's special.
02:05100%, I agree.
02:06So how did you even, I mean, coming from London,
02:08how did you hear about the Innovation Challenge to begin with?
02:11So this is part of our network.
02:15We're part of the Cambridge Cleantech Network,
02:18and we pitched to them last year.
02:20In fact, their pitch day is tomorrow.
02:24And the I Love Man is a partner to the Cambridge Cleantech Network.
02:30And when the, you know, when the challenge came up,
02:33I keep my eyes on the ground.
02:34I see what stuff opens through the network.
02:37I applied, and that's how we got here.
02:41Yeah, it was really cool because I didn't even realise that we had become finalists.
02:45I was just tinkering away building stuff because that's what I do.
02:49I built technology and not thinking that,
02:53oh, we're actually finalists in the I Love Man and we're here now.
02:56I think what's really important is that you guys do things differently here
03:02to what they do in the UK.
03:03I think you move progressively faster through how your government works,
03:08incentivising the people, the landscape, the communities to really make a difference quickly.
03:14And I guess you can do that because the government's well connected with the people.
03:18That really doesn't happen quickly in the UK.
03:21You've got to go through a lot of barriers and milestones before you get there.
03:24It happens, but not like it happens here.
03:26I mean, how long have you been here? A couple of days?
03:30Yeah.
03:30Yeah, it's a smaller place, isn't it?
03:33And it's a lot more of a tight-knit community.
03:35You've got everybody already.
03:36Yeah.
03:36I love it.
03:37Absolutely.
03:38I fell in love with this place when we were flying over here.
03:40And I must confess, I even looked at the prices of houses.
03:44An old tumble-down house with lots of building space,
03:47and I could tinker around and start carrying on with my ideas.
03:50I'd like to come because there's innovation there to help you.
03:53So just let me know if that's...
03:55I think the opportunity here is great.
03:57And what's really important is the biosphere.
03:59It's such a beautiful place here.
04:01And I think it's really important that people use the technology
04:08to maintain a healthy lifestyle and living,
04:13to make their lives easier and make a difference,
04:15not just for us, but for the rest of the community.
04:17And this could go global.
04:19And our technology, and a lot of the technologies here,
04:22they can go global.
04:23There's no reason why they couldn't.
04:24And why not start from a great place like this,
04:26where you can patent your device.
04:29It's got great laws, stable, and you can springboard from here.
04:34You really can, because you've got some serious people
04:37who have got long reach.
04:38And that's what I find amazing.
04:42Really, honestly, the old saying goes,
04:45you know, build it and they will come.
04:46It's here.
04:47It's built.
04:48People need to come and see this.
04:51And, you know, we won our first award.
04:53Hey, and I'm talking to you.
04:55So it's kind of not sunk in yet.
04:57It's really good.
04:58No, it's inspiring, isn't it?
04:59And I mean, you're probably on a high right now from,
05:01it's your first award as a company.
05:02Like, you've obviously put in so much effort and worked so hard.
05:05And yeah, you might be on a tiny island receiving that,
05:08but it still counts for so much, doesn't it?
05:10Final question.
05:12What does innovation mean to the two of you?
05:15That's where we live and breathe, right?
05:17I mean, this guy churns our ideas.
05:19I can't tell you, it doesn't.
05:21But it's more about, you know, getting the excitement and the vision thinking outside the box
05:29and seeing the vision and then trying to then build it into something tangible
05:35that people can use and enjoy.
05:38But yeah, what's innovation?
05:40Yeah, so I mean, I've built a few things and been in innovation for many years.
05:45To me, innovation is having a vision, seeing it through painstakingly
05:51and then making a difference for others.
05:53So for me, innovation is making a difference to society and people.
05:58It's making it better, isn't it?
06:00It's making it better.
06:00Improvement, it's improvement.
06:02Every time an innovation comes along, it's a first step.
06:06You make a change and then that innovation sometimes goes
06:09or develops into something else to the next step
06:10and to the next step and to the next step
06:12until you have that, you know, perfect utopian.
06:16So to me, it's making a difference and that's what I like.
06:19It's not really about the money.
06:21The money's important, but it's to make something happen.
06:24But unfortunately, to make it happen, you need money.
06:27It's a dog-eat-dog-eat world, isn't it?
06:28It's a big ink.
06:29Well, thank you very much, guys.
06:36It's lovely to meet you and congratulations again.
06:38Thank you very much.
