Utmost staff on their charity challenge
Transcript
00:00Yeah, so about six months ago, Amy and some of the guys from her team asked us to work alongside them to design a high talent program that was very creative, very out of the box, that wasn't just about theory, it was about bringing theories to life and getting guys out and practicing and having a go at things in the real world.
00:22So we've spent six months working together, designing this together, and now we're kind of in the middle of the rollout phase, which is just great to see it all come into fruition.
00:33I think it's been great to show the teams being really tested out of their comfort zone.
00:37So we've selected these people because we've got quite a lot of high talent in Upmost, and this is the first cohort, really, of that talent.
00:44But we really wanted to put skills in place that are going to really test them, which I think we've definitely, definitely done today.
00:52There's a couple of occasions I've gone up to see them, and they do look a bit stressed and stricken, but that's exactly what we want, and I think they've all thoroughly enjoyed it too.
01:00Upmost support for four charities a year.
01:03Unfortunately, one of them is not, doesn't have an island-based, so we picked three that have island-based officers here.
01:12And so they've picked victim support and hospice, and they chose those out of the three that we gave them.
01:19Yeah, and I think as an external provider working alongside Amy designing this, it's really refreshing that businesses are embracing innovative training like this.
01:29It's not the normal thing, and I think that most people that are looking at this probably from the outside in would say that they'd quite like to have a go at this training because it is very engaging, it's very fun, it's very different and out-of-the-box.
01:41And that's, I think, utmost, and Amy should be given a lot of credit in that respect.
01:45On mission, so we were given £500 to start with, however, we lost £30 of that in some challenges before the challenge had even started.
01:55So we were down to £470, and basically with that money, we've got to raise as much money as we can within 24 hours, and all our profits will go to hospice.
02:04So we've done a pop-up shop down at the Santander working cafe, and we've been organising a raffle, starting from yesterday afternoon going through to this morning, gathering prizes from local businesses.
02:17And then, yeah, we've been selling the TT merchandise up here in the office as well, and then tomorrow we've got plans to go round and continue selling raffle tickets to local businesses.
02:31So we've been doing a mixture of things.
02:33We've done a car wash in the office due to the nice weather that we've got today.
02:37We've had a Slopey machine and selling sweets as well as a raffle we've collected various prizes for.
02:45I think, obviously, the whole initiative for both teams is obviously going to create good money for two good causes.
02:53Victim Support had a few people on our team aware of it and wanted to help them from previous experiences.
03:00So, yeah, we just, obviously, with the impact of what it can do and what the money can raise, we just want to be behind it and make sure we raise good money for them.
03:12I think we're doing all right.
03:14Yeah, we've been washing cars non-stop.
03:18Don't think we've had a break once today.
03:21Not eight yet, so, you know, just car after car.
03:25And then Kerry and Laura have been very busy as well with the raffle tickets and selling a lot of slushies.
03:34So I think it's going all right.
03:36It was, we didn't have much preparation.
03:40I think we had about three hours sat in a room together.
03:44Yeah, so we were all selected.
03:46And then we were given, yesterday afternoon, we were given the brief of what it was.
03:50So we didn't have much time to plan.
03:51So we spent yesterday planning and we very much took it, the bull by the horns and started as soon as we could this morning.
03:57So getting stuck in.
