Hello Wendy. Hello. Lovely to meet you and can you tell us about your garden here today please?
00:05
Well we started it about 23 years ago and it just took over our life. We had horses for 30 odd years
00:11
and then we had nothing to do so we started with the garden. It was just a paddock then and so
00:16
this is what we've done in 20 years and I think we've been open for the national garden scheme
00:22
for about 15 or 16 years. I'm not quite sure. What is the standout feature of the garden would you say?
00:29
I think the pond. I think the pond with the coir carping. I think that's what it is yeah.
00:34
And what about this beautiful bridge? Oh right yeah well my husband and my daughter Dlynn they
00:40
built it one Sunday afternoon when they were we hadn't got anything to do. How often have you
00:47
do you open the garden for the national garden scheme and how long have you been doing it for? I think
00:51
maybe 15 or 16 years I'm not quite sure but we open in April for the bulbs for the tulips and then
01:01
we open in the middle of July. We only open twice because it's quite a lot of work and I have to rely
01:07
on my friends and my sister and that to help with the you know with organizing everything because we
01:11
do get a lot of people. We had 100 people come in April. Goodness me. Yeah. How much have you raised
01:17
over the years for the charity? We usually make about two thousand pound uh make about a thousand
01:24
pound each time we open so I don't know quite a bit. Do you find that people come back year after
01:29
year to see what you've done? Yes they come back. We get such a lot that come back. They enjoy coming
01:35
because they can relax and it's nice. Some people nod off sometimes in the garden.
01:39
How's the year been for you from a growing point of view then? It's been difficult because we've had
01:48
no rain. Everything's grown so quickly and it's sort of overtook and the weeds of course they grow
01:54
better than the flowers so it's been a bit a bit hectic really. You had to put extra hours into
02:01
looking after it because of the lack of rain and watering and things. Yeah I seem to be forever
02:06
watering all the time. What's what's best for a garden? Is it too much sun or too much water?
02:12
A little of each isn't it? A little of each. Yeah. Yeah. Things have really grown this year. They've
02:17
really like we're all right with the geraniums because they like the sun. I mean they grow in
02:21
Spain where there's not no rain. In fact I think I'll get more. I always keep the geraniums because
02:27
now we haven't got any children I use the upstairs in winter to put the geraniums in. So I use that
02:33
to the geraniums upstairs.
