00:00It's a pivotal summer for Everton, yet so far the transfer window has passed with little
00:08movement. With David Moyes overseeing his first full off-season since returning to Goodison
00:13Park, fans had hoped for early signs of intent. Instead it's been a period of patience, caution
00:19and perhaps quiet calculation. Following a campaign built on defensive steel and organisation,
00:26Everton's need for attacking upgrades is widely acknowledged. The Toffees often lacked cutting
00:32edge in key moments last season and adding creativity and clinical finishing remains a
00:38top priority. But with no major signings through the door, questions linger about when and how
00:44the club will act. So far the window has seen more rumours than real activity. We caught up with
00:51Will Rooney of Liverpool World to get the latest from Bramley Moore Dock.
00:56Yeah, just on the transfer window, obviously a big summer of transition. David Moyes has
01:02said it ever since he came back to the club, how important this summer is going to be. We've
01:06mentioned it before. We've mentioned the players who are out of contract as well. Why has it
01:11been so quiet so far? Is it to do with the PSR deadline? Obviously late June, that kicks
01:18in. And then do you feel there's going to be a bit of a spark of business ever so slowly
01:23in terms of this adjusting to the new sort of era at Everton?
01:27I think it's been slow because June is normally a bit of a slow month in terms of the transfer
01:33window. You look around the clubs that have done business so far and it's Liverpool have
01:38obviously done business and Manchester City. So maybe it's only the real clubs with money
01:43to spend who start that domino effect effectively. And then once players start moving on, then
01:50opportunities open up. Let's say I think maybe the PSR situation. If Everton can sign a player
01:57on July the 1st instead of June the 30th, then it goes into the next set of accounts and
02:02Everton's accounts are improving all the time. So that'll help down the line. And it's just,
02:08as you say, players are on holiday. I think in the next couple of weeks, things might start
02:12getting a little bit livelier. Kenny Tete from Fulham, that looks, one that looks like we get,
02:19might be getting over the line on a free transfer. An addition at right-bass, which Everton have
02:24got options at right-bass, but Jake O'Brien was excellent in this after Moyes came in, but he's
02:31a natural centre-back, probably rotate with Tete. Where's that leading? They've been passing,
02:36maybe you're thinking about there. Everton needs a new striker, at least one new striker,
02:42perhaps two, because Thomas Calvert-Lewin, as I think Stans will be to part of the football club.
02:48Armando Broge has gone back to Chelsea. Does David Moyes want Beto to be his out-and-out striker
02:55week in, week out? It's a sort of eternal barrier at Villarreal, but to Everton, I think he's worth
03:02£35 million for a player who might take a little bit of time just spending that sort
03:07of money. If you're ever, then you need someone to be starting week in, week out, like Liam
03:11De Lafford have been. Central midfield, he still needs options. I think they need a couple
03:17more, even if it's just a Garnagay start. If you've got Garnagay, you've got James Garner,
03:24Tim Irabunum, is he ready for the Premier League? Does he maybe need a loan?
03:28Wide options, they've only got Dwight McNeil and Elidman Dye, so they need a little bit more
03:34pace, I think, down that right flank, to be honest. Someone who can rarely get Everton up
03:39the pitch and cause issues. They've only got one senior goalkeeper in Jordan Pickford,
03:45so back up as needed. What do Everton do there in terms of back up? Centre back, if Michael
03:51Keane leaves, maybe he needs a fourth choice one. So there'll be conversation about a doubt
03:58ongoing with agents and clubs, etc., but it might just be a little bit later in Everton's business
04:04might really kick off a bit later and then accelerate towards the end of the window, especially
04:10in the low market when players are becoming available. But I wouldn't panic yet. It's going
04:15to be a busy summer. Everyone's known it's going to be a busy summer. It's not like Everton
04:19are caught on the hop here and all of a sudden they need to get players through the door.
04:25They've known that for a long time, Everton, and they'll be fairly relaxed, I would say,
04:31at the minute. The situation, there's no need to panic. They're not even back for pre-season
04:35yet, so a lot of clubs aren't back for pre-season yet, so I think there's absolutely no need
04:42to panic as things stand.
