00:00We need to reform welfare, I absolutely support that.
00:02I think they've had years to prepare for government, they've now had a year in office,
00:06and we've got to this point where they've got a complete damp squib of a welfare reform programme
00:12that won't save much money, isn't going to support many people into work,
00:16and has caused a huge amount of distress and anxiety for disabled people.
00:19So we need to do a lot better than this, and it looks like Keir Starmer's simply not in control of his own party,
00:25and he's in a stalemate, he can't move one way or the other.
00:30Yes, we still want to support the government to reform the benefit system.
00:33We really urgently need it, particularly the increase in disability and health benefits.
00:38The last government, the Conservative government, reduced unemployment welfare significantly
00:41by supporting people into work, but since Covid we've seen this great rise in sickness and disability benefits.
00:47So we support the ambition to reform the system, but we're not getting reform from the government.
