00:00Because it wasn't a proper reform of the welfare system, what we saw last night was an emergency measure essentially to find Rachel Reeves billions of pounds that she needs because she's spent too much money and put up taxes, which is killing growth.
00:12And they can't even do that. They are so divided, despite a super majority, they've now clawed back on all the provisions that would have raised money.
00:21And actually, ironically, the bill may end up costing money because they're putting up, you see, at a standard rate.
00:26They need to go way further, just to put it into context. Since the pandemic, health and disability benefits have increased substantially to the extent that the OBR project that will be spending £100 billion just on health and disability benefits by 2030.
00:42That is more than we spend on defence. That's one in every £4 of income tax raised going on health and disability benefits.
