00:00he was one of the most lovable nerds in pop culture television his iconic character brought

00:14viewers tons of joy and entertainment for many years unfortunately like many child actors things

00:21didn't turn out so great after the fame let's take a look back at dustin diamond most famously

00:27known to the world as screech and find out what actually happened to the former star before

00:33becoming a teenager dustin was already booking acting roles in television and films shortly

00:40after his start in the business he landed a major role in a sitcom that would become a pop culture

00:45classic diamond played the iconic samuel powers who was appropriately given the nickname screech for

00:51his rather annoying voice the character was basically a genius but lacked a great deal of

00:57self-awareness it made him the primary contributor for comedy relief among his school click he was

01:05considered the most likable of the bunch mainly because of his good-hearted nature only one nerd

01:11on television was more likable than screech at the time because screech was such a fan favorite with

01:25the audience dustin was included every single time in the spin-offs while other cast members didn't

01:32return to reprise their roles fans of the series got a chance to witness dustin grow into an adult

01:38before their very eyes but after over a decade of playing the beloved character the saved by the

01:45bell chapter in his life would finally come to an end unfortunately for diamond the future wasn't so

01:52bright after the franchise wrapped despite dustin being a seasoned actor and well-established for a

01:59number of years hollywood wasn't exactly knocking down his door for more work he tried his hand at

02:06stand-up but he wasn't able to find much success as a comic how many people came out tonight

02:12specifically to relive some old saved by the bell memories you guys can be really fucking disappointed

02:18dustin managed to get a few tv cameos occasionally but not enough work to support his lifestyle

02:26diamond now in his early 20s and struggling in show business he had to resort to filing for

02:33bankruptcy he was forced to leave the very expensive state of california and live more modestly diamond

02:41then turned to reality television which was starting to grow more popular in the early 2000s

02:46dustin was able to leverage the little fame he had and get a few extra opportunities to make some money

02:53the former child star would even lace up a pair of boxing gloves for a small payday

02:58it is now time for the battle of the sitcom stars ron palolo against dustin diamond and look in both

03:05their respective sitcoms they played kind of i don't know geeky characters if you will now we'll see who's

03:11a real man tonight diamond getting very little work for a number of years he became even more

03:19irrelevant in the entertainment industry and his money woes continued in 2006 he would make it back

03:26into mainstream headlines in a rather unusual way when his wisconsin home was facing foreclosure

03:34dustin would decide to go on the howard stern show asking for help prompting the listeners to purchase

03:40a screech t-shirt he created to save his home his goal was to raise over two hundred thousand dollars

03:47within 30 days to pay off the debt many former saved by the bell fans that grew up watching him

03:53rush to his aid and purchased a shirt for support in the end he did manage to keep the two-story home

04:01thanks to the donations but diamond's desperation to improve his financial situation would continue

04:07later that year after the billionaire influencer paris hilton gained major attention from her celebrity

04:14sex tape many others tried to replicate the phenomenon with video leaks of their own

04:19among those that released an adult tape was none other than diamond he directed and starred in an

04:27x-rated film poorly titled saved by the smell it reeked of desperation and turned quite a few people off

04:34after initially gaining a tremendous amount of sympathy a few months prior uh what are you doing here what

04:40are you promoting well i'm sure you heard i have a video that got out and uh it's it's of an adult nature

04:45so it fits in this crowd and uh red light district is putting it out we uh teamed up with them because

04:49they're the leaders in that industry and uh it's been real i've been really well received everyone

04:54loves it out here and uh and so far i've seen a lot of a lot of good looking ladies and uh the crowds

04:58haven't opened up to the public that happens tomorrow so tomorrow will be pretty hectic awesome uh any

05:03thoughts on perhaps doing a sequel now that the first one's been so successful um well it wasn't a

05:07professional video it was something i did four years ago that managed to get out so i don't know about

05:11doing a purpose sequel i don't you know i don't want my lady dumping me but uh let's just say that

05:15i'm working with um if the money's right i'm gonna try to get some of the other celebrities that i had

05:19videos uh of trying to get them to allow me to put them out because uh if they get out anyway there's

05:26nothing they can do about it might as well have someone on your on your side and maybe make some

05:29money off of it the tape sort of worked out for him as diamond was later featured on prime time

05:34television once again he signed on to be a contestant on the hit reality show celebrity fit club

05:42being back on a major network again dustin seemed to be quite desperate for screen time

05:47and chose to go down a path he would later regret when the cameras were rolling on set he would

05:54channel his inner heel often featured in episodes behaving like a jerk making rude remarks and

06:01disrespecting other participants the attention seeking tactic worked and dustin did get more screen

06:07time for his antics but viewers began to develop a bad taste in their mouth with each episode that

06:14aired his supporters were no longer fans following his poor behavior on the show the former child

06:21star wasn't done with his attention seeking strategies quite yet soon he would be in the headlines once

06:28again for the wrong reasons diamond decided to release a 300-page tell-all book titled behind the bell

06:36in the memoir he shared his personal experiences from his time on the hit show going into great detail of

06:43scandalous situations involving his former co-stars poking fun at some of them and bragging about all

06:50his sexual encounters on and offset most of the saved by the bell cast members chose to distance

06:57themselves from diamond after its release the book was panned by critics and once again made the actor

07:03appear desperate for money and attention and to add insult to injury diamond would be excluded from every

07:10saved by the bell reunion program his career continued to go downhill for the years that followed

07:17and he would also have a brush with the law that landed him in jail

07:22dustin diamond is accused of stabbing another man during a bar fight our surveillance video played

07:28during the trial he argued diamond and his girlfriend could have easily left and avoided the confrontation

07:33ultimately diamond got a four-month jail sentence despite his remorse this is all i thought about for

07:38the last six months every single night spent consumed with what i could have done differently over time

07:44as dustin aged and matured he sought to redeem himself in the public eye he publicly apologized to

07:51his former base side classmates and would take ownership of his many poor decisions showcasing a level of

07:58humility he hadn't displayed in quite a while unfortunately diamond was unable to continue on with his growth

08:06transformation in early 2021 he announced he had lung cancer

08:12and the very next month after releasing the statement dustin sadly passed away shocking many of his fans

08:20despite all the controversy he had taken part of over the years

08:24dustin left a positive mark as one of television's most adored characters

08:29and also provided millions with long lasting memories from their youth
