01:00C'est parti !
01:29C'est parti !
02:00Me and the team are here to look after not only you guys but you guys as well.
02:05We've got 110 staff and we hope that you guys have a great experience while you're here.
02:13And for you guys in particular, the 580 squad would like to give you a little bit of a souvenir pack for it before you walk.
02:19So Don's going to let us know.
02:22Just before we do, Adam, as you know, this is coming from them.
02:26They keep telling me, Don, you organise the birthing and all that sort of stuff.
02:30I won't tell them about the price because I know they're paying.
02:32But listen, to yourself and all the staff, first of all, huge thanks.
02:39It's a great atmosphere.
02:40We're just part of the family already.
02:41Also pass it on to Tony, you know.
02:43He's right into it.
02:44It's fantastic.
02:45Maybe when, I've just got to direct when we see the name on the bag, I'll say who it is.
02:49Maybe just do one minute, who you are, where the country is, name of the boat.
02:52You know, you should be able to remember that.
02:57And the other thing before we get into that, I mean, everyone's welcome to, they're not my boats,
03:01but welcome to come and talk to them any kind, have a look at their boats, tell the world, do whatever.
03:05So that's cool.
03:06The boats are about the size of this table.
03:08Yeah.
03:09It's pretty amazing what they do.
03:11And I've got to say, really, just, you know, Adam's the boss.
03:15You guys are amazing.
03:16You know, just so friendly and so relaxed.
03:19It's very much appreciated.
03:21So if they do anything wrong, come and tell me.
03:24All right?
03:26Okay.
03:26So do you want me to check the name on the bag?
03:29Immortal Game, not here.
03:30Okay.
03:31First one.
03:31Dan is Australian.
03:33He's running second at the moment.
03:35He built his boat four years.
03:37Interesting guy.
03:38A performance sailor.
03:39That's probably why he's running second.
03:41And, yeah, he's gone back to Australia.
03:43So he hasn't seen his wife for a long time.
03:45So he'll be back before the start.
03:48Okay.
03:49Argo.
03:50Christian.
03:50Yeah.
03:51There you go.
03:52Do you want to give to him one?
03:53No, no, you go.
03:53There you go.
03:55Give us a one minute.
03:56Thank you very much.
03:57Yeah, one minute.
03:58Yeah, my name is Christian Sauer.
04:00I'm from Germany.
04:01I built my boat because it was always a dream to build a boat.
04:05And first I said, okay, I'm going to cross the Atlantic.
04:07Now I'm in the mini globe race.
04:09Don't know how this happens.
04:11It's quite fun.
04:12I really like the class.
04:13And I'm enjoying the ride.
04:15Enjoy the company of all these crazy people.
04:18I love them.
04:19I love them.
04:19It's such a good, such a good team together.
04:21And I love all the places that we're going.
04:24And Vuda is a special place.
04:26So I feel really, really, yeah, welcome here.
04:30So it's just great.
04:32And all the support.
04:33Thank you very much for this.
04:33And I just want to thank you for all your hospitality and kindness.
04:50Thank you so very much.
04:51Sun Bear.
04:56Good oom.
04:57Another Aussie.
04:58Thank you.
04:59Yeah, I'm Eric.
05:01I'm Australian.
05:02My boat's Sun Bear, number 79.
05:06Yeah, really, really enjoying the stay here at Vuda Marina.
05:10The people are just wonderful.
05:11So kind.
05:13So, yeah, we really appreciate all those guys and girls for your support.
05:19So fantastic.
05:19Thank you.
05:21Thank you.
05:23Skookum.
05:24Oh, Skookum's just arrived.
05:25Okay.
05:26Skookum is, Josh, the only American guy here.
05:29He used to be into mountain climbing.
05:31And he was quite a, what would you say?
05:33I wouldn't say famous, but a highly accomplished mountain climber.
05:37And in the end, he just lost too many of his friends on the mountain.
05:40So he said, I've got to change my interest.
05:42So he took up sailing.
05:44And literally, within the year of taking up sailing, he said, I want to do the MGR.
05:48So he built his boat.
05:49It's a beautiful one.
05:50You'll see a big skookum on the side.
05:52But he just arrived.
05:53Literally, he cleared about an hour ago.
05:55So he's probably over the customs dock now.
05:57But he knows there's a party here.
05:59So it'll be over.
06:01Peter Punk.
06:02Peter Punk.
06:03Thank you very much for your welcome.
06:09Thank you very much for the race, friends, for your company.
06:13I am enjoying every day of my life in the race.
06:16I think it's a dream of all my life.
06:19I thank you very much for this.
06:23Thank you.
06:23Some people are very modest.
06:28I've got to just mention, Peter Punk and Pila is a ship's captain.
06:33Oh, wow.
06:34You know, like big ship's captain.
06:36Sailing two or three seasons in class mini 650s.
06:41They're the minis that most people would recognize.
06:43You know, big sails, planning across.
06:45So she did a couple of trips across the Atlantic in that.
06:47But she found that boat too big.
06:49She wanted to go smaller.
06:50Okay, Bibi of Cork.
06:54Boom, boom.
06:54Jacob.
06:55Don't get too excited.
06:57He's the most excitable character in the race.
07:00Hello, everyone.
07:01Adam, thank you very much.
07:03What I want to say, just when I came, like, we visited so many places.
07:07We were in so many marinas.
07:09But when I came, when I went through the heads and started, you know, looking for the dog
07:14and started hearing this beautiful music, I thought I'm dead.
07:18And I'm just, I'm just in the ILO, you know, the heaven of the sailors.
07:24I just, I still kind of shake everything down because it's so amazing.
07:28How people, you can manage to be so happy and so spiny.
07:32You are a dwarf.
07:33You should be sad.
07:34I'm just, something that I cannot understand.
07:38So thank you very much because the place is absolutely amazing.
07:43I'm, I represent Ireland, but I'm a Polish native.
07:46So they call me Polish buddy or Jacob, if you wish.
07:50So all the sailors, hello for everyone who is here.
07:53Thank you very much.
07:55This is the queen of the choir.
07:58The one thing, many of you will hear her voice under everybody else's.
08:02Perfect.
08:03Little bee.
08:04Little bee.
08:05Little bee.
08:05Boom.
08:06There we go.
08:06There we go.
08:07Thank you.
08:08My name is Dan from Canada and really happy to be here.
08:11The warm welcome, just like Jacob had mentioned, was amazing.
08:14Just gave me goosebumps.
08:16Everybody's singing and it was so, so beautiful.
08:19Don't lie, you're doing all the climb.
08:20You dance perfectly.
08:21Oh yeah, I can do some more later if you do.
08:26There'll be a little cup.
08:27I need a cup for, gosh.
08:29No, it was beautiful.
08:31Even the camaraderie, as some others have mentioned,
08:35when we first all got together, I thought it was such a great thing
08:38that 14 other people had the same idea as I did,
08:41that this was actually a good idea out of all the people in the world.
08:45But it's been great.
08:46Thank you, Adam and everybody in company.
08:49Very nice.
08:50Thank you.
08:50Dan's a schoolteacher.
08:55What the hell number are you again?
08:5620.
08:5720.
08:57Dan was one of the very early guys to buy one.
09:00Had no intention, build one rather,
09:02no intention to sail in the mini globe race and all that sort of stuff.
09:06And so he builds his boat and we sort of had this internet relationship.
09:09The next thing I know, after he's built the boat, we knew he was sailing.
09:12I get the message, he's halfway across the North Atlantic from Nova Scotia heading down
09:17to Portugal, right?
09:18And we didn't design the boat for the North Atlantic, you know, anyway.
09:21And then he decides he wants to do the MGR.
09:23So it's quite a story.
09:25And he's got a lot of following with school kids and stuff.
09:27Number two.
09:28Ooh, number two.
09:29Well done.
09:31Thank you.
09:31Um, yeah, I'm Jasmine.
09:34I'm from England.
09:35Um, yeah, my boat's number two.
09:38It's actually hull number 88.
09:40Bit confusing for the paperwork especially.
09:42But, um, yeah, I'm just so happy to be here.
09:46Like, I did not expect to make it this far, like, ever.
09:49It's the furthest.
09:50Like, I literally couldn't get further away from home if I tried now.
09:53Like, on land.
09:54Um, and, yeah, I'm just, it was just amazing to actually make it here
09:58when I didn't think I actually really would.
10:00And to now just chill for a little bit and kind of get ready for the next set.
10:04Like, yeah, there's not a better place to, um, relax
10:07and get my boat properly ready again for the next leg.
10:10So, thank you to everybody.
10:13Thanks, Jasmine.
10:15Jasmine is one of the youngest women to row across the Atlantic
10:18in the, uh, in an Atlantic rowing boat, you know.
10:21And then she's also an ocean swimmer.
10:22So, she swam around England.
10:24Is that right?
10:26Yeah, well, the length of the UK.
10:27The length of the UK.
10:28Top to bottom.
10:29Yeah, I thought.
10:30So, she's happy to carry her world with her now.
10:34And she didn't, she wasn't a strong sailor before the start of the race.
10:37She'd been on the water, obviously, and done okay.
10:39And the way we run the events is that we have a 600-mile qualifier
10:43for the transatlantic race.
10:45So, Jasmine's in Portugal.
10:48Everything's falling apart.
10:49Everything's stressed.
10:49Everything's happening.
10:50But she did the qualifier, 600 miles to Lanzarote.
10:54And then that means she can enter the transatlantic race.
10:57So, then she goes across in the transatlantic race
10:59and did really well, you know, got across.
11:01And then that was the qualifier for the mini-globe race.
11:05And here she is halfway around the world and still going.
11:07But now she's a sailor.
11:11Little Ren.
11:13Little Ren.
11:13Little Ren.
11:14Little Ren.
11:15Thank you.
11:16Hi.
11:17My name's Adam from the UK.
11:19I built my boat just in a shed near home.
11:23Took about two years.
11:24and got to the start line in December.
11:27And I've had a really good, what is it, six months sailing from Portugal to here.
11:32Getting to know all these guys very well.
11:35And we're all having a great time and enjoying the boat more and more
11:38the more time we spend on it.
11:40Adam, thank you very much for hosting us.
11:43and for all of your team to host us.
11:47What I find is really great about this place is it doesn't matter which part of the marine you're in.
11:54Everybody's the same.
11:55They're all smiling.
11:57They're all there to say hi.
11:59And that really appreciates it.
12:00I can't think of a better place to be able to spend five or six weeks,
12:04which is what we're going to be doing.
12:05So, thank you very much.
12:06Adam's a sailing instructor, and all of his students think he was crazy.
12:15Capucinat.
12:15So, I am Bruno.
12:21I am from Switzerland.
12:24Capucinat is number 28.
12:27I was on internet when Don just started to talk about the miniglub race.
12:33and this just came to me, and I said, I want to do this.
12:38This was four or five years ago.
12:4019, 10, 20.
12:42Beginning of the 20, 23.
12:43And this look, it was yesterday, and today I am in Vigi.
12:47So, this is just amazing.
12:49I want to thank a lot, all the team here,
12:52because when I came in, the ceremonial meeting just came to my heart.
12:59It was really fantastic.
13:02Thank you very much.
13:03Thank you.
13:07Origami.
13:08Origami.
13:10There's no origami here.
13:12Was he picking up his wife?
13:14Tomorrow.
13:15Tomorrow.
13:15So, origami's a nice show, because he's got stuff going on with visas and so on.
13:21So, thank you very much.
13:22Thank you.
13:23And we've got something for the organisers.
13:27So, for Don and Jane, you guys also get one of these.
13:30Oh, thank you.
13:31Oh, thank you, thank you.
13:33I've got a flag here for you too.
13:35We'll put it up in the bar.
13:38But, hey everybody, thank you for coming along.
13:40It's just an informal event.
13:43We're just going to light the bonfire as soon as the sun goes down.
13:46But, please enjoy the hospitality of the marina.
13:50We hope you enjoy it.
13:51We know you've got choices, but we're glad that you decided to stay with us.
13:56And there is a very quick saying, which is very appropriate for these guys in particular,
14:02as a way to end.
14:06And there's big ships, and there's small ships, but there's nothing like friendships.
14:11So, congratulations guys.
14:12Well done.
14:13Thank you.
14:13Thank you.
14:13Thank you.
14:14Thank you.
