00:00major league baseball it's the summer it's the heat we're almost getting close to that midway
00:04checkpoint of where these teams are going to wind up and we're going to start out there in the al west
00:08and we talked about the astros already today hammering the philadelphia phillies three game
00:13sweep looking good now at a 48 and 33 clip on the season now six and a half games better than the
00:19seattle mariners seven and a half better than the angels eight better than the rangers and 16 games
00:24better than the athletics it's almost like if you weren't paying attention oh the astros were
00:29well okay they're up six and a half games again it's just what this team does man and alvarez
00:34coming back to that lineup this could be a buy-on team the rest of the way joe yeah i listen it
00:40wouldn't shock anybody uh right i mean my goodness now i the astros look at that uh mariners rangers
00:48angels and athletics who else do we trust uh the astros have obviously and again doing it without
00:54their best hitter and yet here they find themselves now at almost a minus 500 price i don't trust them
01:02i know this the mariners won't make any moves by the tread deadline to make themselves better and
01:06make a run uh the rangers i still hold out a little bit of hope for them uh but my goodness they are just
01:14floundering as well but at 11 and one that's not a bad price donnie but the astros something
01:20you know something would have to go hard left for this team not to be in the conversation come the
01:27end of august beginning of september to win the west you're right about that too because so many
01:32for the first part of the major league baseball season like houston felt like they couldn't hit
01:35their way out of a paper bag it's like oh man this is a bad baseball team it's just not there
01:39there's just start to come into their own it's like all right now they're playing good baseball and i think
01:43you all set the nail on the head like the seattle mariners the one thing we never worry about is they
01:47have good starting pitching and now it's always injured at times but it's like hey for a while the
01:51mariners were hitting at the plate and that could be a boom because they never do that you have a
01:55catcher in cal rowley who's on pace let's just say to hit 60 home runs and they're still six and a half
02:00games back like you know what i mean like the the astros haven't been playing great baseball here
02:04they are getting good pitching now and the hitting is starting to appear the mariners like oh they have to
02:08heat up what does that mean their catcher has 80 home runs to try to chase them down and then you know
02:12there's no pedigree on the angels mike trout's probably going to be dealt at the trade deadline
02:16and whoever knows else the rangers they have the talent but just can't seem to find anything and
02:21then there's the a so i'm with you there like i don't trust any other team to climb up a six and a
02:26half gap or more and overtake the astros the rest of the way yeah i mean you're talking about an
02:31organization that went what 2022 106 wins then they had 90 wins then they had 88 wins last year and now
02:41they're on the mark again on the way up and with no alvarez and altuve really hitting what a buck
02:4850 until about the middle of may so unbelievable job once again with this organization and you know
02:56they'll be there when it's all said and done i promise you yep they'll make moves no doubt about it
03:01they'll probably be in the forefront and again they're used to winning in the playoffs here we'll
03:04get to the nls next before you can blink all the dodgers on another win streak here we go
03:09remember those fun times joe ranieri ah look at that within a game or two of the los angeles
03:16dodgers dodgers aren't playing well well the dodgers have a four game win streak winners of
03:19eight out of the last 10 games and how about this joe a six game lead now over the san diego
03:25padres a six and a half game lead over the san francisco giants nine over the diamondbacks in 32
03:31and a half games above the colorado rockies the los angeles dodgers the price point is crazy
03:37but i don't think we've ever thought really during the season even was one game like hey
03:41they're going to be overtaken the dodgers just do way too many things too well with that payroll
03:46and now they've extended their lead in the west to six games yeah and now they uh they get the slow
03:52play uh otani on the mound they can work him back in get him ready for a postseason run but
04:00you know listen they've it's not like they've played the easiest schedule either i think it
04:05ranks as one of the you know number one or number two toughest schedule so far this season and they're
04:12doing it because they're absolutely crushing the ball with that lineup and listen you get kershaw back
04:18looking like old kershaw here reinforcements are coming back for the dodgers but they keep hitting
04:24the way they do yeah it's uh they it should not be an issue uh for the dodgers not only winning the
04:30west but once again being the favorite to repeat as champions by the way are we eligible like are we
04:36talking about like the padres and the giants is probably the best chance to get the wild card
04:40there because we have really good teams across major league baseball in the national league that
04:44are really going to be like the philadelphia phillies in new york mets probably either obviously one's
04:48going to win the division one's going to be a wild card but then you have teams there in the central
04:51like the brewers are playing great baseball st louis is hanging around you know the cubs are going to
04:55be in the playoffs because they'll probably win that division are we going to get two teams like
04:58we thought possibly at the nos as the wild card or are we just down to one team now and somebody
05:02better be the padres or the giants start playing some really good baseball they are but that road you
05:08dig the mets got problems i mean michael king is out he's got a shoulder issue you darvish when is he
05:15ever showing up again musgrove is already gone for the year with tommy john surgery and dylan
05:20ceas looks like a shell of himself good bullpen but are we trusting the padres to catch uh you know
05:28catch the dodgers and the giants can't hit uh devers aside they still can't hit uh and don't trust them
05:35great bullpen some quality uh frontline rotation guys but that's it i i can't trust the giants either
05:42yeah it's pretty incredible there again the dodgers expectations were you know championship or bust
05:48they're right back on those expectations with this latest win streak they have let's flip it over to
05:52the american league and we'll take a look at the east of there the new york yankees in first place
05:56by only by a half game yanks are 46 and 34 not playing their best baseball as of late which has
06:02allowed the tampa bay rays here just to climb back up in the standings and a half game back this like we
06:08need multiple 30 for 30s on how the rays can operate in this fashion with players on a year to your
06:14basis that you really don't know about that turn into good ball players pitchers that they lose
06:19year in year out bullpen guys year in year out and yet here they are again vying for the east with
06:25god like the orioles will pay money for the payroll the socks even though they just traded one of the
06:30players away they have a nice payroll the blue jays play their guys the yankees with a massive payroll
06:35and then here are the rays and we were thought to believe also joe well the race can't compete if
06:39they don't have that ridiculous ballpark where nobody can hit the baseball in they're outdoors in the
06:43heat and humidity and still winning baseball games are they worth a plus 320 price to maybe
06:48take down the yanks in the al east well i mean let's let's great job rays but let's pump the
06:55brakes here because of the fact that they play at the yankees minor league stadium major league baseball
07:02has put an extremely favorable schedule together for the rays here let's see what they do in the
07:10second half when all of a sudden uh they're gonna have to play 50 of their 80 um 51 of their
07:17remaining 82 games on the road i mean right now they've played 50 of their first 80 games here at
07:24home that's gonna change in the second half let's see how good they are when the schedule doesn't
07:31exactly favor them like it has thus far yeah it's pretty it's incredible to watch it play out and how
07:37good they are on a year-to-year basis just like the organization the way it's run and also the
07:41organization is up for sale it's like oh turmoil in the organization like no they're still good
07:45like we watch like turmoil with the age like we just think we bought them out every single year
07:49and it's not the case with the rays it just imagine if you just have an unbelievable front
07:53office that makes the right draft picks here and trades players and lets players go at the right time
07:58that's we get in the race but it's such a fine you know a fine needle that you just have to thread
08:03and they do it every year it seems like the toronto blue jays uh five and five in the last
08:08ten only three games like the blue jays are only three games back it feels like we haven't even
08:12talked about them at all to see like oh they need to get it together so many interesting things going
08:16down in the a at least it'll be a fun division to watch the rest of the way and also those baltimore
08:21orioles are they traders that the deadline is opposed to buyers because their season has been
08:26terrible people more baseball divisional talk next on the early line keep it in the east people
08:31two new york teams in first place in the current standings why because the nl east now is held by
08:37the new york mets winners of two straight games which is good enough because the philadelphia
08:41phillies have now lost three straight games and can't hit the baseball a half game lead for the
08:45new york mets over the philadelphia phillies the new york mets hit with 48 wins the philadelphia
08:49phillies at 47 and then there's the braves 10 games back of the new york mets at 37 and 43
08:55followed by the marlins and the nationals it feels like it is a two-team race throughout the summer
08:59but we it's hard to quit a team with expectations coming into the season that were supposed to win
09:06the division would still let's just say look we have july august and september to go three full
09:13months to say i'm giving up on the atlanta braves but every time you want to buy back in on the
09:18braves they disappoint you like two straight losses to the mets to drop back even further so let's start
09:23here mets and the phillies throughout the summer i said it even when the phillies were having a bad
09:28streak and the mets were having a good streak these teams are going to flip-flop they did flip-flop
09:33when it looks like the phillies were had a chance to run away with the division they gave it back to
09:37the new york mets i believe joe this is going to be the mets and the phillies bouncing back and forth
09:41for the remaining parts of the summer trying for nle supremacy or do you feel joe you have one side that
09:47you like decidedly better than the other between the mets and the phillies again it's who can stay
09:53the healthiest right i still have i got question marks about both these teams uh if we're being
09:59honest uh i mean the mets have remained one of the best teams in major league baseball but it's been a
10:06rough sledding here over the last couple of weeks and uh philadelphia call me crazy um i don't know we
10:14got aaron nola with injury issues bryce harper with injury uh issues i don't trust the bullpen of
10:22philadelphia you know the congratulations they're the best of the east but when it comes down to it
10:28do we really trust them when it matters uh come september donnie i don't know that we do
10:33and look it's going to be interesting and again sometimes you can't really judge a team till you
10:39see all the injuries run its course and also if you're going to pick up a hot bat a hot pitcher
10:43or a great bullpen arm that might be able to sway the rest of the summer but these two teams do have
10:48flaws apparently because in baseball the ebbs and flows will catch up these teams have had some
10:52extreme ebbs and flows already in this major league baseball season about halfway done let's continue
10:58to take a look at the central division we'll head back to the american league and it's those detroit
11:02tigers who would have thought joe you take a look and say who has one of the biggest leads and
11:06actually it is the biggest lead in division in baseball it's the tigers nine and a half games
11:11better than the cleveland guardians at 51 and 31 and they're not even playing great baseball
11:16they're five and five in the last 10 but it looks like they're going to walk away with this
11:20division how about those tigers at a minus 1600 price to take down the al central yeah it's kind
11:28of crazy too because uh jackson joe one of their uh one of their young arms there is already gone
11:35tommy john surgery flaherty uh doesn't look like he can get out of his own way he might be hurt here so
11:42uh they're doing it with offense they're doing it with a whole lot of timely hitting uh taking
11:49advantage of some of the weaker teams on the schedule that they've had to play but let's face
11:55it they have been one of the best teams in the american league since the opening day so and they're
12:00also one of the highest scoring teams in the league so they win the games they're supposed to win
12:05donnie when you do that yep you take advantage of that schedule you're going to be uh you're going to
12:10rack up a whole lot of wins and that's exactly what they've done here yeah they should coast i mean
12:15again if they play 500 baseball the rest of the way i don't think any teams are even good enough to play
12:19great baseball to even sort of track them down the gardens are always that interesting team but
12:24they just don't have it this year they really don't and the rest of that division certainly
12:27leaves a lot to be desired central division shopping here now in the national league and that's
12:32the chicago cubs three games better than the milwaukee brewers but you take a look at the brewers
12:36winners of seven of their last 10 games making a little bit of a dent in that cubs lead 48 wins for
12:42the cubs 45 for the brewers and how about the surprise cardinals picked by many beat writers
12:46here to start this season to be the team that finishes in the last place in that division
12:50playing decent baseball even though they lost two games in a row still winners of seven of their past
12:5510 games the reds are a fun bunch you have four teams in this division above 500 can anybody track
13:01down the cubs for you or the cubs at a minus 280 price still have some value for you there well i
13:07mean uh offense has been the name of the game for them but man do i have a hard time trusting that
13:13bullpen and that starting rotation outside of imanaga i mean who scares you there in a short series
13:20that's the problem not to mention i think milwaukee uh is going absolutely nowhere anytime soon
13:28here plus they just brought up their version of paul skeins who might be better than paul skeins in
13:34miserowski so you know milwaukee is not a team i think that you can sleep on the cubs are deserving
13:40favorites right now but man oh man milwaukee is looking pretty good here by the way a topic that's
13:48been really hot with us over the past couple weeks joe is the mvp markets and the price points here
13:53between the american league and the national league just a week and a half two weeks ago aaron judge was
13:58sitting at a minus two thousand excuse me yeah minus twenty thousand excuse me price to be the
14:03mvp which is absurd it was basically the sports book saying we're not going to take this down
14:07but we don't want you to bet on aaron judge and everybody knew that price appropriate was like
14:11wait a second you have three and a half months left to go in the season he gets injured like who's
14:14laying that money to do that but now you see aaron judge he's down to a minus 950 price because of
14:20cal raleigh obviously playing much better baseball there and can hang around and the yankees will see
14:25where it goes but that price was way off jeremy pain is having a good season 65 to 1 bobby with
14:29at 120 to 1 we think it's a two-man race but still i do believe aaron judge going to win it but that's
14:34not really the focal point i just want to use that joe's background you take a look at the national
14:37league now and two three weeks ago shohei otani plus 120 minus 120 minus 140 and we kept saying both
14:44myself and ben and you've been in on the show multiple times like otani's the best player by far in
14:49the national league now he's going to start the pitch now he's hitting home runs once again we're like
14:53well values in the eye of the beholder you want to tie up a minus 200 minus 300 price show and wait
14:58for like six to eight months to get paid probably not but even yesterday otani didn't have as good
15:03a price as aaron judge that completely flipped today's price on shohei otani joe minus 1200 over
15:10pca juan soto and kyle tucker and i completely agree like if otani i don't think he's going to ever go
15:16into a slump where he can't get out like hey joe one home run the last 30 days he's hitting 115 right
15:21the extreme version but now he's pitching he's going to sooner than later be a starting pitcher
15:25and an mvp at the plate and i say this now again like minus 200 you might be getting a steal still
15:32at minus 1200 but most people joe they don't like 1200 bucks to win 100 bucks and wait till christmas
15:38to get that payback yeah listen they've been the favorites from before the season started they're
15:45going to be the favorites right through the very end uh it doesn't mean that there aren't other guys
15:51uh worth having a conversation about but the reality is and i you know i don't get the whole
15:57voter fatigue thing either you are the best player in your in your league or you're not there's really
16:04no in between and otani and judge are still the two best players in major league baseball right now
16:10period hands down it's pretty crazy and again these markets fluctuate on a day-to-day basis but
16:16it is incredible to see where aaron judge was it's like well how much is judge going to come back and
16:21just to give you another little update on what was happening yesterday if you clicked on the parlay
16:25here at the fame blue sports book for judge and otani yesterday it was still expensive joe at a minus
16:31357 like okay i'm gonna tap 357 dollars to win 100 for six to eight months or whatever it is you
16:36don't want to do that today joe that's up to a minus 507 so again that market fluctuation all the
16:41way through but still keep in mind like we have three full months injuries do happen in major league
16:46baseball and do you want to say like hey i think otani is going to win it and the worst case scenario
16:50happens which you don't want to bet on that but it is baseball and sometimes it does happen but
16:55you're now looking at some of these guys start to separate themselves and i would be like honestly
16:58joe like pete crow armstrong awesome player it's not winning mvp right no no overall time no no it's not
17:06it's not happening again injuries happen you know anything is possible here but right now i there's
17:14just it's not a market i think we're tying money up in unless you're 100 convinced that somebody is
17:21going to bust out the remainder of the year and overtake them i just don't see that happening but
17:26the public though look at this poll 3 000 hits is the leader at 51 percent great question great
17:35answers here jordan pencil says tough could go either way i'm going hits willis says interesting
17:40question i'm leaning towards hits andre l i'm leaning towards strikeouts here just because
17:45starters don't have the longevity here and also neil says much easier to throw a ball than hit a
17:50baseball i voted for 3 000 but it's a great question like there's so many things that go into
17:55either one of these enough to get 3 000 of either yeah well longevity obviously being up at the top of the
18:03list health uh being up at the top of the list and listen it's not easy to get 3 000 hits in this
18:09generation either uh moving forward and you know to me i'm always partial i think the one record in
18:16major league baseball donnie that will never be broken ever is the 56 game hitting streak why because it is
18:24that much harder than anything else you're getting guys racking up with just yesterday what sanchez
18:31uh for your philly strikes out 11 dudes we got guys and teams striking out at record levels uh over
18:39the last couple of seasons because it's home runner bust i'm sorry man you give me 3 000 hits is not an
18:46easy accomplishment because nobody hits for average anymore everybody swings for the fences you're right
18:53about that too and it's it's it's hard because you also contemplate like how long do you have to be
18:57around so if your angle is on like the strikeouts like back in the day and i mean like back in the
19:02days like the 1990s like hey man this pitcher's angle is i'm gonna throw nine innings whether they
19:07get roughed up or not that's a chance to get double digit strikeouts because you're pitching more
19:10innings now granted the pitchers of today routinely firing high 90s with crazy devastating breaking pitches
19:16where they rack up strikeouts and batters are no longer taught to put the ball in play that's not how
19:21you get paid you get paid for putting that ball off the fence or in the seats as extra base hits so
19:27it's a great question and it's not surprising that we're roughly 50 50 because the arguments show on
19:31both sides i don't know if i can disagree with either argument to be honest i i think the pitching
19:39getting 3 000 strikeouts in this day and age i think is much easier than what it was when nolan ryan
19:47was doing it and racked up what over 5 400 of them there because you had different hitters guys
19:53that made your work they were students of the game you got nothing but uh you got guys here that
19:59were are going to make 12 trillion dollars because they can hit 35 40 home runs of the season they're
20:04not trying to hit 60 doubles they're not trying to move guys over they're not hitting and running
20:09they're not doing those things so i still think if you get a guy that can pitch five innings and
20:15strike out 11 donnie then what's harder to you uh 3 000 hits to me is much harder because there's
20:23only a handful of guys that could actually do it exactly like when's the last time we saw like a
20:28let's just say louis arise right like technically like the way he hit he should be the highest paid
20:33player in baseball i always hit 300 and nobody hits 300 nobody cares about that like the joey gallows
20:37of the world would hit 175 with 30 home runs like that guy needs to be on my team like what are you
20:43kidding me one out of every 10 times at the plate he gets a base hit yeah but it's for power and
20:47that's all we care about in this environment here same thing with the strikeouts you're taught and
20:51also back in the day there were more pitchers than throwers today you're throwing man yes gas it up
20:5697 98 99 we're back in the day those batters like tony gwynn would strike out so much more now why
21:02because the pitchers are throwing 15 mile an hour harder you couldn't strike tony gwynn out if you
21:06tried george brett those guys long gone man the game of baseball certainly changed maybe not for the
21:12better at this point here but you know what we're gonna handicap games for the better next
21:16right here on the early line a lot of action on the card today let's start having some fun because
21:21it's friday night yesterday was a lot of day games by the way only one night game and usually it's like
21:25oh the night games out on the west coast in like sacramento or los angeles it was a seven o'clock start
21:30here in city field so all day games one night game at seven o'clock you get the full slate today
21:35which we have games starting at 6 40 p.m no rush on the card you can spend all day handicapping we're
21:40gonna get that started right now the chicago cubs and the houston astros how about this matchup here
21:45horton's on the mound going against walter you take a look at this game going to start at 8 10 p.m
21:50and no surprise opening number at fandle 118 current number on fandle 112 here roughly a pick
21:57them across the board and it looks like the total here open up at eight and a half and now still sits
22:01at eight and a half it's in houston weather's not going to be a problem because it's retractable roof
22:06but i am actually showing that the roof is supposed to be open tonight with 85 degree temperatures and a
22:13wind blowing out to left field this roof is never open could the bats come into play now heat and
22:19humidity you know in houston i didn't think it was allowed yeah kind of crazy right and you're talking
22:25about a cubs team that is now coming off of what back-to-back shutout wins at eight nothing and three
22:31nothing and you've got houston uh who was scoring what total of five runs in a three-game series and
22:38swept it so i think this this game to me donnie is correlated if you think it's an over you like the
22:45cups if you think it's an under you absolutely like the houston astros to win this game here and
22:51it wouldn't shock me if that's the direction it goes that's an interesting one too because you take a
22:56look at some of the scenarios here and again if that roof is open that really helps out the
23:00environment it's a small ballpark already but heat and humidity doesn't creep in when the air
23:04conditioning is running if that roof is open it's 85 degrees that's really nice but also
23:09the pitchers are decent matchups here tonight like brandon walter is a lefty who struggles with lefties
23:14and not necessarily right-handed batters majority of the lineup is going to be right-handed batters for
23:18the chicago cubs and also looking at houston's lineup which didn't really knock down those
23:22philadelphia phillies pitchers who did very well kate horton comes into this game a little bit leaky
23:27against lefties but righties he's very good against and as i look at the roster here maybe
23:31what switch hitter and caratini would be the only left-handed batter in the lineup so it's a it's a
23:37spot joe i would love to take the over but things just aren't matching up for me necessarily to take
23:42the over but that roof being open certainly is intriguing here let's keep moving and go to the
23:46big a here a battle in the nl east two teams not in the right direction right now that's the
23:52philadelphia phillies and the atlanta braves mc abel is going to be back out on the mound for the
23:56philadelphia phillies going against elder the right-handed pitcher for the uh braves excuse me
24:007 15 start tonight a favorite opened up overnight joe you see that marker right now minus 138 that's
24:07gone minus 162 is the current number for the atlanta braves a total which opened up at nine now sits
24:14at nine and a half 80 degrees in atlanta tonight wind blowing out with a chance of rain but how about
24:20that line movement in the favor of the atlanta braves yeah i and i'm kind of shocked with that
24:27if we're being honest that was the only night game we had last night right atlanta playing at city then
24:32hops on a plane has to come down uh philadelphia licking their wounds but earlier in the day from
24:38losing once again uh to houston uh i i think that's a pretty good price for the phillies i'm sorry i i do not
24:47trust atlanta in this spot i think the rookie abel has actually been pretty good i think he has shown
24:52he certainly belongs and they need him uh they need him to come up big here tonight it's a big battle
24:58for the top of the national league east one in which i'm much more comfortable taking the plus money with
25:04philadelphia i actually think joe went even better than that might even be taking a look at the total
25:09in this game the reason i say is like well not in the braves haven't been hitting at all neither of
25:12the phillies well again it's a matter of the environment that you're playing in the pitcher going
25:15against the phillies went up against three great hurlers they had three great hurlers the atlanta
25:19braves we know are hitting this particularly sometimes on the road you take a look at bryce
25:23elder he has a very good xfip number joe but his last 30 days an era of over five mick abel came up
25:29like hey man first couple starts you're great after that they've been brutal his xfip is over five with
25:34the era of 4.67 if i had to pick out one rbi prop i like in this game abel's really struggled joe with
25:41left-handed batters olsen rbi tonight at plus money for the braves makes a lot of sense but i
25:46agree with you like the phillies should be able to snap out of it and it's not as if chris sale
25:50imperfectly oh another lefty on the mound to go against the phillies to right into pitch who's not
25:54near the pedigree that hunter brown was that they saw i think we get some runs tonight we'll find out
25:59how that plays out let's head over to cincinnati here san diego taking on the reds cease versus martinez
26:05903 904 on the rotation a 7 10 start tonight the favorite in this game opened up overnight at minus
26:11142 as a favorite towards san diego it sits here at minus 136 other outlets as low as a minus 129 but
26:18in that ballpark you know the totals typically will be up there opened up at nine still sits at nine
26:23great hitting conditions tonight joe in the great american ballpark how about 89 degrees at start
26:28with close to 10 mile an hour winds blowing out to left field yeah you would think the over in the
26:36great american ballpark is is something that you need to look at but you know the padres have kind
26:41of been limping around here dylan cease has not been the dylan cease of old nick martinez i think is
26:48due for some positive uh regression here but any i couldn't imagine sweating out an under in this one i i
26:56think the over is definitely in play in this one it is no i'm with you there because you take a look
27:02at the lineup it doesn't look great for the padres but again you're talking about great hitting
27:05environments in a great hitting ballpark tonight somebody should wake up and if you said you know
27:09what just give me one player in this game donnie you like the back it's actually manny machado i
27:14would usually go for an end with the t's but a little bit of a struggle lately for him but look at
27:17nick martinez joe his last 98 batters that he's faced how about a 326 iso power number and a
27:23weighted on base percentage of 437 that's not like hey i dominate righties i can't get lefties
27:27out that's combined between lefty and righty batters so if you extrapolate and say well donnie
27:32how about his last month just against right-handed batters which manny machado is joe it's a 500 iso
27:37and a weighted on base percentage of 565 with a k rate of 11 percent giving manny machado in this game
27:44and maybe even for a home run which is how i would like to play that out so taking a look at some of
27:48these pictures and the matchups that they have you're just trying to single it in but i agree with you
27:52i don't love that lineup for the padres but i can't stand nick martinez on the mount
27:56no no and again hot human dying cincinnati great american ballpark that ball's gonna travel here
28:04let's just hope you get cincinnati on you know it's feast of famine with them and hopefully
28:09it's a big feast here tonight offensively yeah dylan sees last month uh 4.13 x excuse me 4.13 era number
28:17but a 3.45 x with number why it's a big strikeout guy but this lineup tonight friedel mcclain ellie de la
28:23cruz steer steers stevenson lux and christian incarnacion strand all high iso power numbers joe
28:30over the past 30 days against right into pitching could we get runs in the natty could be more major
28:36league baseball handicaps up next what's going on in texas i'm going to tell you about in just a few
28:41moments here as we continue our handicapping it's on the right side and joe ranieri it's the early line
28:45it's a friday show we're getting you ready for the major league baseball card tonight which we
28:49talked about a game in houston which i was shocked the roof was open i'm seeing now in texas where
28:54the rangers play the roof should be open at globe life again tonight this is incredible here it's
28:59seattle it's texas it's gilbert versus eovaldi and eovaldi coming back to major league baseball after
29:04a stint here on the il 919 920 on the rotation an 805 start tonight take a look at this price opened up
29:12roughly around a pick them we're still seeing it roughly around a pick them decided which way you
29:16want to go between the mariners or the rangers gilbert and eovaldi the total in this game opened
29:21up at seven and a half still sits lowly at seven and a half two lineups we know that can be tied in
29:27knots by good pitchers here but if that roof is open a little bit more heat a little bit more humidity
29:31and do we trust eovaldi coming back tonight here joe yeah i i mean this is interesting this is the
29:39tail end i believe these are the final three games uh for the mariners on the road it feels like
29:44they've been on the road for a while here i think it was a 10 game road trip uh and both top end guys
29:51are going for him and uh both these guys faced each other early in april i believe in the start of the
29:57season it was a low scoring game there i don't like backing pitchers in their first spot back right
30:04uh you don't know necessarily what you're gonna get but i gotta tell you logan gilbert now it's got
30:09a few uh he's got a few starts uh since he's come back under his belt and i watched him in a wind uh in
30:16a wind tunnel at wrigley do a pretty good job of limiting the damage they are pitched really well
30:22against the cubs i i would uh i would look for seattle in this spot i trust that lineup more than i
30:29trust the rangers right now yeah the interesting part too is like you take a look at logan gilbert who we
30:34know is a good pitcher but coming back you know rough start decent start and that's what you get
30:37because his numbers are terrible right now and then if i told you joe he has the best xfip on the card
30:43sometimes it doesn't make sense his era is a 5.40 his xfips a 2.08 good luck hitting that and also
30:51logan gilbert only 10 innings pitched in the last 30 days so it's not like he's really ramped up or ready
30:56to go but he's got the kinks worked out right now where iobaldi might be getting back into it that's
31:01seven and a half again it stinks because i look at that houston game i'm like man heat humidity in
31:04that small ballpark globe life's not really a small ballpark but the heat and humidity creeps
31:08in there that ball is going to travel remember all those games at the old globe life would be like
31:1298 degrees in the afternoon that ball was actually getting slugged out of that ball yard we'll see if
31:17it happens tonight but with the pitchers i sort of trust them a little bit more than the lineups
31:21tonight i'm not so sure joe that we do get to the eight runs overall as it is let's keep it moving
31:27let's go to boston forget about texas let's move up to massachusetts toronto and boston jose barrios
31:32on the mound versus brian baio 917 918 on the rotation that's going to be a 7 10 start tonight
31:38up in boston and look at this another one roughly around a pick them between the blue jays and the
31:43red sox eight and a half at the opening number still sits at eight and a half as a total weather
31:48conditions in boston tonight 70 degrees the first pitch more of a crosswind from right foul pole to left
31:54foul pole so it won't really hurt all that much but how about that roughly a pick them there boston
31:58and toronto what are we feeling the problem is we you know we know barrios has got crazy home road
32:06splits he's really good at home and then he gets on the road and then all of a sudden crazy things
32:11start to happen uh bellow also to me i think is his numbers tell me that regression uh could very well
32:19be on its way he also gives up a lot of runs early in games here i don't necessarily like toronto's
32:28bats on the road i like him much better at home but this is a spot where i think toronto will be able
32:35to get to the red sox early in this one i'd look to back toronto in the first five in this game yeah
32:42we take a look at barrios in the last 30 days got 31 innings pitch got a 2.03 era a higher xfip of
32:484.04 if you look at bayo's last 30 innings that he pitched over the past month a 240 era and a 394
32:54xfip number so era wise both of these guys really in decent form and you're right about this because
32:59toronto is very appealing right now it took a while for those bats to heat up but they have
33:04but can you trust them now on the road as opposed to being up in the six in a small ballpark they
33:08might say like i need small ballpark in the boston it's just different hitting angles here different
33:12batter eyes that you have to take a look at in that arena and also top five batters here look at this
33:17bachette barger guerrero kirk and springer extremely high iso power numbers going up against
33:24right-handed pitching really good weighted on base percentages and the good part about them joe is
33:27they don't strike out for toronto and put the ball in play in a city like boston at fenway park
33:33usually good things happen so it'll be interesting to see does the xfip hold out tonight on these two
33:38pitchers or is the era hold out which both of them have very good eras over the past month we will
33:43find out tonight in boston and see what happens here
