Transcript
00:00The movie unfolds in May 2020, during the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic.
00:05Connecticut Governor Claire is in the midst of an at-home interview when she unexpectedly
00:09receives a mysterious package from Miles at Alpha Industries. Meanwhile, scientist Lionel,
00:15engaged in a video call with his superiors, is pressured not to endorse the risky ideas of his
00:20boss, Miles, which could potentially jeopardize lives. Lionel, too, receives the same package
00:25from Miles during a party. Supermodel Birdie, under the care of her overburdened assistant Peg,
00:31also receives a package from Miles. Simultaneously, Twitch star Duke, filming a video with his
00:36girlfriend Whiskey, is interrupted by his mother, who informs him of the arrival of the same
00:41mysterious package. Claire, Lionel, Birdie, along with the assistants of Peg and Duke,
00:46convene on a phone call to collaborate and figure out how to open the enigmatic box.
00:51The box unfolds into a series of puzzles leading to a model of a building, along with an invitation
00:56from Miles to join him on his private island for the weekend. The last person to receive the package,
01:02Andy, opts for a more direct approach, smashing the box to pieces to reveal the invitation.
01:07Detective Blanc, in a bathtub during a video chat with friends, is urged to leave his apartment.
01:13His partner calls to inform him of the received box. Blanc eventually joins the other guests at a dock,
01:18awaiting a ship that will transport them to Miles Island. Lionel, Claire, Birdie, and Peg express
01:24excitement at meeting Blanc, renowned for his famous cases. Duke and Whiskey arrive later.
01:29Before departure, Miles' assistant instructs everyone to take a disinfectant, allowing them
01:34to interact without masks. As they board the boat, the group is surprised to see Andy on the ship.
01:39Lionel informs Blanc that Andy's presence is unexpected due to a notorious falling out with Miles,
01:45who excluded her from a significant business deal. Guests arrive on Miles Island, greeted by Miles
01:51himself. Andy's presence surprises him. Miles showcases his home, the glass onion, named after
01:56a cherished hangout spot. He unveils a mystery game, designating himself as the victim and assigning
02:02special bracelets to each guest's room. Blanc, although uninvited, explores Miles' office after
02:07receiving an invitation box. The guests settle in and enjoy the pool, with Birdie, Claire,
02:12and Peg engaging in various activities. Peg urges Birdie to discuss a personal matter with Miles,
02:18highlighting his transformation from obscurity. Later, when Miles sits down to give a little
02:23speech to the group, Andy comes over to rail against him and the others since she knows that
02:27they are latching onto Miles because he backs all their business. Peg confronts Miles about a troubling
02:33matter related to a Bangladesh sweatshop linked to her clothing business. Despite Peg's plea, Miles remains
02:39unyielding. Blanc's attempt to enjoy a cigar is interrupted by an alarm. Duke catches Miles and
02:44whiskey in a compromising situation. Later, Miles gathers everyone for drinks and unveils a real
02:50Mona Lisa painting borrowed from the French government. He introduces his latest creation,
02:55Claire, a solid hydrogen fuel that Lionel and Claire find concerning due to its untested nature.
03:00As the mystery game begins, Blanc quickly deduces the potential murder plot involving Birdie
03:05and a time-release crossbow. Miles is annoyed, but others are impressed. Blanc follows Miles to
03:11apologize for spoiling the surprise, acknowledging the guests' genuine motives to harm him. Blanc notices
03:17an artifact, a cocktail napkin detailing Alpha's development. Meanwhile, Andy confronts the guests,
03:23seeking the truth. Duke dismisses her, claiming she lost in the long run, prompting her departure from
03:29the party. The party continues, and Duke shows Miles something on his phone that could be a game-changer
03:34for Alpha news. After receiving a drink from Miles, Duke begins choking and dies. The group,
03:40now suspicious, searches for Duke's missing phone and realizes the gun he always carried is gone.
03:45Speculations arise that Miles was the intended target, and someone wanted to poison him.
03:50As the clock strikes ten, the lights go out. Whiskey accuses Andy of ransacking their room,
03:55and Blanc, pursuing Andy, hears a gunshot, finding her injured. The group discovers Blanc standing over
04:02her and decides to stay together until the mystery is solved. The film then jumps back to Blanc receiving
04:07the invitation, visited by Helen, Andy's twin sister, who brings him a smashed puzzle box.
04:13Helen claims Andy was murdered, pointing out the group's shifting loyalty to Miles only after his
04:18success. She reveals that they were once close friends with Andy and only embraced Miles when he
04:23achieved success and helped them out. Miles cuts Andy out of a risky deal, leading her to discover the
04:29real cocktail napkin outlining Alpha's ideas. In her anger, she exposes Miles' theft to the group.
04:35Helen suspects foul play in Andy's death, especially since the actual napkin is missing from her home.
04:41Blanc proposes he and Helen go to the island, with her posing as Andy, to investigate and garner media
04:46attention. While undercover, Helen overhears Lionel and Claire discussing potential career damage due to
04:52their association with Claire, and Birdie's admission to taking blame for sweatshops in exchange for
04:57compensation. Helen also learns about Whiskey's uncomfortable relationship with Duke, who
05:02manipulated her into seducing Miles. Blanc advises Helen to initiate an argument, providing an excuse
05:08to search rooms for the missing napkin. Duke's death interrupts the plan, and Whiskey, suspecting Helen,
05:14confronts her with a trident gun during a power outage. Helen seizes the chance to escape.
05:19Helen and Blanc regroup after the assailant's attack, surviving due to an Andy handbook Helen had.
05:24Blanc uses sauce to fake Helen's death, allowing her to continue her search. Helen discovers the
05:30envelope in Miles' office. Blanc accuses Miles of being the killer, revealing that Duke's death
05:35was orchestrated by poisoning his drink with pineapple juice. Miles, aware of the impending
05:40blackmail, also murdered Andy, who had the envelope. The group is shocked as Blanc unveils Helen,
05:47Andy's twin, who presents the napkin as evidence. Miles burns it, erasing proof, and the group remains
05:52silent in Andy's defense. Helen calls them cowards, highlighting their betrayal of Andy.
05:57In a cathartic display of defiance, Helen, supported by the group, smashes Miles' valuable items,
06:03escalating to a destructive fire. She reveals a sample of clear left by Blanc, causing a massive
06:09explosion that raises the glass onion. Helen, delivering a final blow, sets the Mona Lisa ablaze
06:15as the group exits. Miles taunts Helen about lacking proof against Andy, but she takes solace in ruining
06:20his reputation. The group agrees to testify against Miles just as the police arrive on the island.
06:26Helen joins Blanc by the water, wearing a satisfied smirk as the chaos unfolds.
