A woman story about him
Transcript
00:00There's a lot to be smiley and cheery about.
00:03Sophie Woods is a thriving florist and author.
00:05She runs the flower shop with her mom's help and is actively still penning words down for
00:10her next project.
00:11At the moment, she's got an indie book that's received positive reviews from the likes of
00:15Lisa, a childhood friend.
00:17Her mom, Evelyn, has been anticipating the bestseller list, but Sophie thinks she's
00:21still got a whole lot to prove before her name could end up there.
00:25The list proves her wrong, as she's been given the number three spot much to her surprise
00:29and delight.
00:30It's a huge career milestone because Sophie is a first-time indie author.
00:33It feels too good to be true, and she keeps expecting herself to wake up from a wild dream.
00:38So far, things have been going too smoothly.
00:41A big publisher named Meredith has caught wind of Sophie and wants a publishing deal with her.
00:45Sophie can also look forward to a book tour among numerous interviews.
00:49To help her with this, her agent, Janice, calls in a public speaking coach named Daniel to assist her.
00:55But guess what?
00:56She turns down his help, opting to handle it herself.
01:00Janice explains they'll be handy to each other, but Daniel declines Sophie's offer of editing his
01:05work in progress.
01:06An eye for an eye, it seems.
01:08But is it really worth it?
01:10Janice has called for a press conference, and Sophie's walk of fame starts immediately.
01:15There's no time to prepare, and she'll need to give her first public speech right away.
01:20The press conference is a disaster.
01:22Sophie has stage fright, and it shows through her stutter and fidgeting.
01:25Janice steps in to save her from total embarrassment, and then apologizes for springing up the conference
01:30without forewarning.
01:31But, there is a looming book tour.
01:33It's late evening when Sophie returns to the florist shop.
01:36Her mom has been basking in her daughter's glory all day, and advises Sophie to do the same.
01:41Her book is a hit and has several positive reviews that she can be proud of.
01:45Sophie returns home and goes down memory lane.
01:48She has a box of journals and write-ups, and now she can add the bestseller list to them.
01:53Meanwhile, Tom, Daniel's producer, isn't impressed with his scripts.
01:56It needs work, and there's not much time left.
01:59Daniel tries to find a loophole, but Tom kicks against it.
02:02His only saving grace is to make his series good enough for production.
02:06For reasons best known to Sophie, she remains stubborn about needing Daniel's help,
02:10insisting she can handle further public affairs by herself.
02:13Janice disagrees, and eventually convinces her to not get cocky.
02:17If she messes up again, she could lose her dream career.
02:20Daniel proposes a business lunch to Kickstart, and Sophie reluctantly agrees.
02:25During the business lunch, Sophie expresses how she doesn't need help,
02:29and hints that Daniel's portfolio isn't eye-catching enough to want to be coached under him.
02:33If Daniel notices the jab, he doesn't say.
02:36Instead he asks to do a quick assessment of her to know if she can be let off the hook.
02:40He works her through an exercise, and she finally admits that she's scared.
02:43She's bad at facing a crowd, and doesn't look forward to the interview that's only 10 days away.
02:48She's also skeptical about Daniel's help, but he's optimistic that they can refine her in time for her big day.
02:55Sophie reports for duty.
02:56She gets to see the workspace Daniel and Tom share, before he takes her to a reserved spot for yoga.
03:02Breath control and calmness go hand in hand.
03:05Sophie will need to be relaxed if she's going to speak in public.
03:08They talk as they exercise, learn things, and get comfortable with each other.
03:12The session is interrupted when Evelyn texts, needing Sophie to cover for her at the flower shop.
03:17Daniel walks with Sophie to the shop, and it's an opportunity to hand in a monologue she should memorize.
03:23She'll recite the monologue, when the time is right in front of a group of friends,
03:26to test how well she's mastered her public speaking skills.
03:29The monologue is from Romeo and Juliet, and Sophie remarks that she's not a fan.
03:34In her opinion, love is rational.
03:36Daniel counters that if she has such a view, then she's never been in love.
03:39They've still got a meeting the following day.
03:42Daniel plans to work with Sophie's fears to further harness her skills.
03:46Over dinner with Evelyn, Sophie admits that she's learned a thing or two from Daniel,
03:50but it's nothing life-changing.
03:51To confront Sophie's fear of heights, Daniel picks a tall building that also holds sentiments for him.
03:57It takes a moment, but Sophie starts to relax, especially when she sees the view the ledge has to offer.
04:03The whole city is on display, jogging their memories from his high school to her first apartment.
04:08They even take a picture together after Sophie helps Daniel keep to tradition and take one for his dad,
04:13who lives upstate now.
04:14Sophie isn't the only one who has a big day to prepare for.
04:18Friday comes, and a nervous Daniel sends in his final draft of scripts for review.
04:22Now, he'll have to wait for feedback.
04:25The next fear Sophie needs to face is skating.
04:28She was good at it until she took a fall and had to get surgery.
04:31Regardless, she's still got the moves.
04:33Turns out, so does Daniel.
04:34With her fears confronted, they move on to body language.
04:38An avenue for them to get closer, metaphorically speaking anyway.
04:41Sophie tries to learn her lines to the teeth, but Evelyn advises that there is room for improvisation,
04:47and Sophie should take it easy on herself.
04:49When her mother leaves, Sophie goes back to practicing her lines.
04:52The trail run is here, and Tom comes to help set up the tech for Sophie's speech.
04:57There's a small waiting crowd, and Sophie is nervous to face and address them.
05:01When she gets on the stage, it's worse.
05:03She's struggling to remember the techniques, struggling to keep her breath under control.
05:07Unable to stomach another minute, she bolts, and Daniel quickly addresses the confused crowd
05:12before going after her.
05:13Sophie is frustrated that she's made no headway with the situation.
05:17She snaps when Daniel tries to encourage her, remarking that public speaking is easy for him,
05:22so he can't pretend to understand her stage fright.
05:24Like every other human, Daniel has his own shortcomings.
05:28He's not much of a writer.
05:29Sophie can sympathize with him and offers to help him edit because she wants to return the favor.
05:34He's been patient and kind with her.
05:36Daniel agrees to let her help him.
05:38During their next meeting, Sophie pinpoints her biggest fear.
05:41Standing in front of a crowd and being perceived as weak.
05:44The phobia started after her dad passed away.
05:47She wanted to prove she was okay, but it backfired.
05:50And she's still not over how people took pity on her at that moment, because she wasn't stronger.
05:55Daniel assures her she's strong, talented, and beautiful.
05:58The last adverb catches her attention, and threatens to cause awkwardness.
06:02At least until Janice's call interrupts.
06:05The talent agent has arranged for Sophie to be on a podcast.
06:08Daniel thinks it's a good medium to help Sophie practice facing a crowd.
06:11While they're talking, he gets an idea he sure will help Sophie address a fear she's failed to mention.
06:17Sophie excuses Daniel and Tom so they can talk.
06:19Feedback is in, and the producers are asking for a whole new idea.
06:23Tom comes up with one.
06:24Tailoring episodes about real-life clients like Sophie.
06:27Daniel isn't sold, pointing out several reasons why it could lead to a fallout between him and Sophie.
06:32Tom persists that they could draw inspiration and let Sophie know what they're up to after her interview.
06:37Daniel agrees on the grounds that they'll scrap the idea if she's uncomfortable with it.
06:42Sophie is afraid of small spaces.
06:44It's the fear she failed to mention.
06:46To conquer it, Daniel enlists Evelyn's help, and she lends them a closet in the flower shop.
06:50They pretend it's a podcast space, and Sophie's worries start to melt away.
06:54In small spaces full of lovers and two attractive people, it's inevitable that they have a moment,
07:00and like every legendary movie, that moment gets interrupted.
07:04Daniel and Sophie break their gaze the moment Evelyn pulls the door open to ask for a favor.
07:08Sophie has a gift for Daniel.
07:10It's a writing journal that should help him with his writing, and Daniel appreciates the gift,
07:15promising to check it out the minute he gets home.
07:17On the day of the podcast, Sophie is dressed, ready and waiting, but still nervous.
07:23Daniel shows up for support and wishes her luck when Georgia calls Sophie in.
07:27The anxiety intensifies when Sophie learns there's a new segment that's been added to the show.
07:32She hasn't practiced for it, and she starts to fidget even though Georgia tells her it's no big deal.
07:38Sophie remains a deer in the headlights, and Georgia finally notices.
07:41When she finds her voice, Sophie calls off the podcast and lies that she's under the weather.
07:46Georgia believes her and agrees to reschedule.
07:49Immediately, Sophie shuffles out and pulls Daniel along with her before her cover gets blown.
07:53Sophie sulks outside the building, beating herself up about messing up but desperate to get over her issue in time for the next milestone.
08:00Daniel sympathizes with her and suggests they have a dinner date to help relax and recover.
08:05Daniel meets Sophie at the restaurant, penning something down.
08:07She tells him she's working on her second novel, something she's planned to do regardless of her rising fame.
08:13Sophie writes because she has control of what happens, unlike the real world.
08:17She feels empowered when writing, the same way Daniel feels empowered on a stage.
08:22Daniel has read her book and sincerely admires it, noting that it carries a unique, powerful voice that cannot be silenced.
08:29This inspires him to suggest that she approach her book tour, not as a mere formality or technicality,
08:34but as a real opportunity, almost an agenda, to continue sharing that vital voice.
08:39Cue the romantic music and Daniel asks for Sophie's hand to dance.
08:44They're about to kiss when the song switches to something more upbeat and they follow suit, becoming playful and momentarily forgetting about their undeniable feelings for each other.
08:53Sophie remembers Daniel's scripts and asks him about them.
08:56He replies he's starting from scratch, and Sophie suggests she could help review the existing work and brainstorm new ideas.
09:04Daniel insists she head home and rest instead, as it's been a busy day.
09:08Sophie does the opposite of resting, practicing, and still messing up her public speaking skills in the mirror.
09:14Daniel sends in the scripts, seemingly having a change of mind.
09:18Sophie replies she'll have a look right away.
09:20She's having a look when she finds the draft episode about her.
09:23The following day she confronts Daniel about it, feeling used, he tries to explain, but she isn't having it, just wanting him to leave.
09:31When Evelyn arrives with lunch, she and Sophie talk about what happened with Daniel.
09:35Sophie still questions Daniel's intentions.
09:38Hurt that he didn't ask her permission to be used in his series.
09:41Evelyn suggests that she should give him a listening ear and understand why he did what he did.
09:46Meanwhile Daniel is sulking, and Tom is convinced that his friend is going through a heartbreak.
09:50Daniel comes knocking and hands Sophie a gift he was planning to give her before their fight.
09:55He also apologizes and explains the thing with the episode, and Sophie decides not to be so mad at him anymore.
10:01He hovers at her door even after she's closed it, conflicted about maybe wanting to say or do more.
10:07Ultimately, he walks away.
10:08Sophie takes out his gift from the bag, revealing a framed picture they took at the ledge of one of the city's tallest buildings.
10:15The big day arrives, and Sophie tries to put herself and her emotions in order.
10:18She's hoping to meet Olivia Winters before the interview, but that won't be possible.
10:23Her first encounter with the icon will be in front of an audience.
10:26Frightening.
10:27She starts out rocky, but maybe it's Daniel or Evelyn's presence that helps her nerves.
10:32She starts to relax and ease into her answers, applying the techniques Daniel taught her.
10:37The interview goes well, and Meredith is ready to seal the book deal.
10:41Janice is also very excited and impressed.
10:43She points out that Daniel was all smiles watching Sophie.
10:46He's still waiting for her, and Sophie wastes no time running into his arms.
10:51The bad blood is behind them, and Sophie is more receptive about the episode about her.
10:56She suggests that they should collaborate on the project, one out of many to come.
11:00And as for that kiss?
11:02They reserve it for the end now that their fears are out of the way.
11:04But they don't do it.
11:06But it does not guard the الديer.
11:08So if you're listening, they're ready for dinner.
