Two Metropolitan Police officers committed gross misconduct during the “disproportionate” and “humiliating” strip search of a 15-year-old black girl at school, who was wrongly suspected of carrying cannabis.
00:00This has been a deeply controversial recent issue hanging over the Metropolitan Police.
00:10A ruling on Thursday by a disciplinary panel found the actions of P.C. Christina Lynch and P.C. Raphael Chemieski,
00:19who have now both been dismissed without notice, amounted to gross misconduct after that strip search of a 15-year-old girl in Hackney.
00:30In December 2020, a number of key issues were highlights.
00:35The panel heard how authorisation was not sought for the Internet search,
00:42which left child Q feeling demeaned and physically violated.
00:48An appropriate adult was not present, a key safeguard of a child's rights.
00:54And the girl's mother was not told of the situation.
00:59Of course, the child was incorrectly suspected by her school of carrying cannabis.
01:06Panel chairman Commander Jason Prins described the incident as a disastrous and negative interaction between police and a black teenager,
01:18but said race had not been the reason why child Q was treated so badly.
01:25He added, the search was disproportionate, inappropriate and unnecessary.
01:31And it was humiliating for the child and made her feel degraded.
01:36Outrage over child Q's treatment led to protests outside Stoke Newington Police Station.
01:43The one that was toned and heated with a manc欢
01:50When the man was treated was outright of a temporary event, it was unauthorized.
01:53The man was observed to the man who lived to the women's fight against the women's queer people.
01:57The girl passed away the man's death by an infant.
02:00The man was a laden and he worked to the women's fight against the women's fight against the women's fight against the women's fight against the women.
