00:00In September of 2022, 47-year-old Sarah Delagarde slipped on a platform at High Barnet Station
00:11in North London and fell down at the gap between the train and the platform. After being hit
00:18by two separate trains, she was taken to hospital and had to have an arm and a leg amputated.
00:25She now uses two prosthetic limbs. She is bringing a legal claim against London Underground
00:32Limited, which is of course part of Transport for London, with the first hearing in the case
00:39held at the Royal Courts of Justice on Wednesday for a breach of duty. A TfL spokesperson said
00:48that they were responding to a legal claim bought by Sarah Delagarde, but it was not
00:56appropriate to discuss details of their defence while this case is ongoing. They added our
01:04thoughts continue to be with Sarah and her family following this terrible incident and we will
01:11continue to make every possible effort to learn from any incident on the Tube network.
01:19I expect TfL's leadership to come and explain their position at trial in public. TfL can
01:27no longer defend my claim behind closed doors. It's time to confront some hard truths. TfL's
01:38initial reaction to my incident was to label me as a drunk woman and suggest it was all
01:43my fault. The spaceless claim has since been retracted, but not before they scrutinized everything
01:50down to my choice of footwear. I wore flat shoes, not high heels for the record. You know those
01:58TfL be kind posters which you see plastered across the city, that doesn't match how they've actually
02:05treated me. More bullying than kindness. This shows a big gap between what they say and what
02:12they do. Back in October last year Mayor Sadiq Khan specifically told TfL not to victim blame,
02:21it was revealed in court today that TfL continues to allege that this incident is entirely my fault.
