00:00However big or small, our homes should be a haven.
00:04I really need Clean It Fix It's help.
00:07Hi.
00:08But we're all feeling the pinch at the moment.
00:10Where to start?
00:11I hate DIY because I'm terrible at it.
00:14I think it's important to know your limitations.
00:16Awful.
00:17What on earth is that?
00:19It's not always easy keeping a house in order.
00:21I'm going to clean it.
00:22Tommy's going to fix it.
00:24Spot off.
00:26Simple as that.
00:27But you can take back control of your home.
00:29Look at the slug, he's got his own bath.
00:31Ooh, that's massive.
00:32With clever, common sense hacks.
00:35Sip.
00:36Come back up again.
00:38All done on a shoestring.
00:40From the old to the new.
00:42Wow!
00:43This is simply unbelief.
00:45Sometimes I'm just too good.
00:48We'll show you how you can make life-changing improvements in just 24 hours.
00:52That's actually my house.
00:54And on a next-to-nothing budget.
00:56I'm not having it!
00:58With better use and a spruce up of your space.
01:01Wow!
01:02This is amazing!
01:04Oh!
01:05Oh my word!
01:08No way!
01:11This is not our room!
01:13Never have.
01:14Of course you can, my pleasure.
01:16Our team of experts is here to help.
01:23Asha!
01:24Whoa!
01:25Do you reckon you can clean them?
01:26Anything can clean.
01:27We're cooking on gas.
01:29Master builder Tommy Walsh brings over 50 years of DIY experience.
01:33Look at that.
01:34You can actually dance on that.
01:36Looks good, doesn't it?
01:38Maxine Dwyer runs one of the UK's top extreme cleaning companies.
01:43Ah!
01:44Proof is in the pudding.
01:45Dirt is in the sponge.
01:47And creative carpenter Asha Edwards prides himself on being a perfectionist.
01:52You can tell I've done this before, can't you?
01:54A work of art.
01:55Cheers!
01:56Cheers!
01:57Cheers!
01:58So which household needs the team's help today?
02:05Hi, I'm Asta.
02:06And I'm Sid.
02:07And we desperately need the Clean It Fix It team to help sort our home.
02:12One year ago, HR consultant Asta and husband Sid, who works in banking, moved into their first house in London.
02:20It's an old house, but obviously it needs a lot of updating.
02:25And this busy working couple have a looming deadline for getting their home ship shape.
02:30We found out that we're pregnant and they're twins.
02:34More the merrier.
02:37Having twins is expensive.
02:40And this house needs money, but the pot is finite.
02:45Raising just one child costs on average over £11,000 a year.
02:50But a tight budget isn't the only thing holding them back.
02:54Well, I hate DIY because I'm terrible at it.
02:58I don't have the confidence that I can actually make it better.
03:01And rather I think, what if I make it even worse?
03:04So this is the kitchen.
03:10It's quite dated.
03:11The drawers are broken.
03:13This one is stuck.
03:15This one is a hole.
03:18And then this one here just completely falls off.
03:23There's actually no proper ventilation in the kitchen.
03:27And the doors don't quite shut properly, which means that the entire house can smell of cooking.
03:33Upstairs, a nursery needs creating from scratch.
03:40The room we've identified is my study.
03:43That would mean my study needs to be relocated somewhere else.
03:47I work from home most days in the week and right now it's just a mess.
03:54And next door we've got this little single bedroom.
03:59All we've done is painted it.
04:01So the twins got lucky and they've got the room with the best views.
04:05And I've been demoted to this one, which is now going to be our study.
04:10And with the babies due in just four months, the couple's approach to cleaning has had to change too.
04:16I'm not very mobile at the moment and that means that Sid has to do it on his own.
04:21It's been quite difficult trying to keep up in terms of cleaning and fixing stuff and keeping the house in good order.
04:27So we need someone else to really help us get it in a state where we can welcome two little other humans.
04:38Today is the big clean and fix.
04:41Asta and Sid head out to give the team free reign in their home.
04:45And show you can make a difference in just 24 hours with the simplest of changes.
04:50So do you think he was optimistic of me wearing shorts?
04:54Definitely. Pretty cold.
04:56With the budget as tight as time, Tommy's asked along his friend, Joe Bahari, who has 20 years DIY and furniture upcycling skills.
05:04Yeah, it's great to work with you again and I'm really looking forward to today. It should be great.
05:08I think we're just through air.
05:11Here we go, guys. Come on in.
05:13Wow, nice wide hallway.
05:15That's a nice staircase.
05:17Into the kitchen.
05:18Wow, lovely and bright.
05:19Yeah.
05:20Oh, look at this.
05:22They've used this to cover up the crack tile.
05:24This is the worst crack tile.
05:26Oh, and it's wobbly as well.
05:28It's going to be no good with the babies, is it?
05:30Nope.
05:31Cover it back up for now.
05:32Look, Maxine, there's some limescale hair for you.
05:35Look at you.
05:36I know you love your limescale.
05:38What's through here?
05:40That door's not shut.
05:41Oh!
05:42It's a sticky door.
05:43No, it's not.
05:44There you go.
05:45There's a missing drawer there.
05:47Yeah, that's what caught my eye, but then there's a drawer.
05:50Ah, that's where it is.
05:52Seems to match the space on top of the unit.
05:55Oh!
05:56Oh, dear.
05:57I see the problem.
05:58Yeah, so let's go upstairs and see what else is going on here.
06:01It's the big houses.
06:02Yeah, that's a good idea, yeah.
06:07Standard bedroom.
06:08Is this going to be the nursery?
06:09I think so.
06:10Where's the bed going to go?
06:11I'm going to have to dismantle all the furniture
06:13and have a good shift around.
06:15Yeah, there's a lot of furniture in here as well.
06:17The walls are a bit bland as well, aren't they?
06:19Might need a bit of softening if it's going to be a nursery.
06:21It's quite wine.
06:22A bit of colour and pizazz.
06:24Ah!
06:25Come on, then.
06:28This is quite a good size for an office, isn't it?
06:30Well, again, there's a load of furniture in there.
06:32Although I quite like that chest of drawers.
06:34That'd be useful in the nursery.
06:35But then look at the walls.
06:37It's white.
06:38It's all white.
06:39Including the white sheet on the window.
06:40Look at that.
06:41Oh, my goodness.
06:42It's not a curtain, is it?
06:43Shall we start getting our tools out and get started?
06:45Yeah.
06:46We better.
06:47A lot of furniture to shift, isn't it?
06:48There is.
06:51The team has its work cut out,
06:53transforming Sid and Astor's tired and cluttered home
06:56into a clean and child-friendly haven.
06:59In the kitchen, Tommy will repair the drawers
07:02and add vertical storage.
07:04Replace the dangerous floor tiles
07:06and fix the sticking door.
07:08Maxine will deep clean and organise its storage solutions.
07:12The large bedroom must be turned into a colourful nursery,
07:17with a plan from Asha.
07:19And Joe will make a harmonised nursery set
07:22from the mismatched furniture.
07:26They'll convert the tiny bedroom into a fit-for-purpose office space
07:29for Astor.
07:30And Joe will add a professional window dressing.
07:33And any clutter will be set to one side for the family to go through later.
07:39With the babies due soon, there's not a moment to lose.
07:43The first job I'm going to do is clean the sink area.
08:05Look at this.
08:07We always forget to clean under the drying rack.
08:11Lime scale settles in the corners where the feet are
08:15and that will harbour bacteria, lots of bacteria.
08:18And then you're putting your clean plates on a dirty surface.
08:21It's not good.
08:23If not cleaned properly,
08:25a kitchen sink can have over 17,000 bacteria cells per square inch.
08:30Use a sponge on this area.
08:33For the draining board, you use this bit.
08:36It's time to make up my mix now.
08:39I love lotions and potions.
08:42I'm going to put half a cup of white vinegar,
08:45half a cup of water into the spray bottle.
08:48Then you put the trigger back on.
08:51And that's my vinegar and water solution.
08:55Vinegar is antibacterial, so no need to use harsh chemicals,
08:58especially with babies around.
09:02I'm going to put some bicarbonate of soda in this tea strainer
09:05and just kind of whack it on like this.
09:09The reason why I'm doing this with a tea strainer
09:14is because it will disperse it evenly.
09:16The sink is full of grease.
09:21Absolutely greasy.
09:27Spritz it just like this.
09:29Can you see that fizzing?
09:31Beautiful.
09:32Absolutely beautiful.
09:34While it's fizzing,
09:36watch this now.
09:38Perfect, wonderful operation.
09:40Look at this.
09:41This will clean and sanitize it.
09:43Once the vinegar touches the bicarbonate of soda,
09:47it bubbles up.
09:49And that's where the magic begins.
09:51Can you believe it?
09:55Take the sponge and just work in a circular motion.
10:01This is absolutely brilliant exercise for your bingo wings.
10:05If you're not doing it properly,
10:07you will not feel your muscles working.
10:10Ah!
10:11Hi, Maxi!
10:12Can you show me your bingo wings?
10:15My bingo wings?
10:16Yeah, go on.
10:17These old things!
10:18Look at that!
10:20Let me see your biceps.
10:22Where's your biceps?
10:23No, I'm not going to embarrass myself.
10:25Right, Maxi, you've got work to do.
10:28See you later.
10:29Bye!
10:30Do not forget, under here.
10:38Oh!
10:39It's gleaming!
10:40Absolutely wonderful and it smells nice.
10:46Wow!
10:53Ah, here you are, Tommy.
10:54Do you need a hand?
10:55Yeah, wouldn't mind giving me a bit of a hand.
10:57I just came in to have a look at this unit as well.
11:00You can give me a hand clearing that out.
11:02Yeah.
11:03Get the unit downstairs.
11:04Yeah.
11:05To be worked on outside, yeah?
11:06Yeah, that would be great.
11:09Got another one ready for me?
11:17Nice and light without those drawers in, isn't it?
11:19Yeah.
11:20But, decent bit of furniture.
11:21Yeah.
11:22Should scrub up nicely.
11:23So, all you've got to do is get started.
11:27I can't wait to see what you're going to do with this.
11:29Yeah, thanks.
11:30Give it a good sand as the first step.
11:31That's it.
11:32That's a start.
11:33See you later, Tommy.
11:37With living costs soaring, seeing whether existing furniture
11:40can be repurposed or reinvigorated before buying new
11:43is a good idea.
11:44Joe's first job is to sand down the old varnish and scratches
11:49from the chest of drawers.
11:51I use a sander like this, which comes with these sheets
11:55that go on top of your sander.
11:57The lower the number, the course of the grain.
11:59So, start with a low number, like a 40 or a 60,
12:01and that means it's a really coarse grit,
12:03which means it's going to take all the big lumps and bumps off,
12:05and then you want to work down to a finer grit,
12:08so a much higher number,
12:10and then you get that nice kind of finished,
12:12lovely smooth surface to it.
12:14And make sure that you're going with the wood,
12:16not against it,
12:17and not in circular motions and creating kind of damage as you go.
12:21MUSIC PLAYS
12:36While Tommy waits for Maxine to finish in the kitchen,
12:39he's prepping to paint the feature wall in Aster's new study.
12:42This is going to be the feature wall.
12:47This wall is going to be one that's going to have
12:50the most beautiful colour, and I'd better get started.
12:55Tommy has opted to paint the room green
12:57because it's believed to lessen stress
12:59and help longer-term focus.
13:01Perfect for a home office.
13:11I'm right-handed, so I like to start on the right-hand side
13:14and move left across the wall.
13:17I'm cutting in all the edge,
13:21and then I'll bring the roller into play and just roll it out.
13:24If you put the roller, try to get it in the corner right tight,
13:27it normally then rubs off on the ceiling,
13:31and that means more work,
13:33because then you have to paint the white again.
13:35MUSIC PLAYS
13:40You need to fully load your roller.
13:45Don't do it too skimpy.
13:46You've got to put some paint on the wall.
13:48Well, as long as you keep it all going in the one direction,
13:52it seems to be seamless.
13:55In the bedroom next door, before Asher can come up with a plan for the new nursery,
14:06he needs to clear the decks.
14:08Dismantling is always easier than reassembling.
14:12But it's important to keep track of all of your screws.
14:19Keeping any flat-pack furniture instruction manuals bundled together with fixings
14:23makes for easier assembly later.
14:29It's a good-sized room, but still a long way from being an inviting nursery.
14:33The main thing is this room is lacking character,
14:37so I need to add a load more colour in here.
14:40And I'm thinking to disguise the fact that there's no skirting board on this back wall,
14:46perhaps a mid-height panelling detail would sit really well in here,
14:52giving this room some character.
14:54This wardrobe is a sturdy unit,
14:57and I think it could fit in nicely in this room
15:00with a little bit of love and attention.
15:02So maybe if Jo isn't too busy,
15:05I can let her have a go of sanding it down and adding a bit of colour.
15:11Jo's paused her work outside
15:13to make sure the way she decorates her upcycled pieces
15:16harmonises with Asher's walls.
15:18Asher!
15:19Hello!
15:20So you're painting the panelling?
15:22Yes.
15:23And the wall?
15:24Yes.
15:25OK, all right.
15:26Well, maybe I could bring the colours that you're using there
15:28into the two pieces of furniture,
15:29and then we could have a nice contrast
15:31and bring that theme into the room a bit.
15:33Sounds like a plan!
15:34Brilliant!
15:35Great!
15:36Well, I will get cracking.
15:37All right, cool.
15:38Thanks, Asher.
15:39See you later.
15:40So I've given the top a light sands, and it looks like it's going to come up really well.
15:59So I'm now going to do the fronts of the drawers and the side of the units,
16:03and make sure that everything looks nice and uniform.
16:06It's really important after you've sanded to give your piece of furniture a good clean down,
16:13otherwise all that dust is going to end up in your paint or your varnish and ruin your finish.
16:21So make sure you get a clean cloth and give it a wipe down just to get that dust away.
16:38Varnish has a double function, providing a protective barrier to the wooden top while bringing out its natural warm tones.
16:50This is starting to look really great. I'm really pleased and I'm really excited about the outcome.
16:54It's going to look fantastic in the nursery.
17:05So I'm going to paint the wall first, fix the panel in, and then paint the panel in.
17:12It's always important to mix up your paint.
17:16Back upstairs, Asher is using a clever tip from the world of interior design,
17:21inspired by Tommy's choice of paint colour in the office.
17:25So this is a nice soft green that I'm going to use to paint the wall.
17:31And it's going to be complemented with this slightly darker green,
17:36which I'm planning to use to paint the panel in.
17:41And the furniture.
17:44Using various shades of the same colour throughout a house
17:47can help your decorating scheme flow from room to room.
17:53Hopefully Joe will approve.
18:02With the morning almost over, Maxine's about to deep clean the kitchen appliance
18:07most of us ignore for three months at a time.
18:09The first stage is to make up your paste.
18:13A smidge of washing up liquid, not too much.
18:16A shake of bicarbonate of soda.
18:18And then we're going to add some water.
18:22Perfect, there you go.
18:23Careful, because this could scratch your sink.
18:28So what you do is put a cloth underneath it in the sink.
18:32You need the brush to get in between the little bits,
18:36because that's where a lot of the dirt gathers.
18:38A cold fridge will slow but not stop bacteria from growing,
18:44which means you'll need to regularly clean the inside, including the drawers,
18:47if you want to keep germs at bay.
18:49The final step is to use a soft rag and wipe, and you can just run it off like this.
18:58There you go.
19:00I'm going to clean the fridge with baking soda and water, and spritz it with the white vinegar.
19:09There you go.
19:23You have to be careful with the seals.
19:26If you see any food caked in it, do not take a knife to it,
19:30because if you do, the fridge will no longer work as it should.
19:33So just gently wipe it with a cloth.
19:37Perfect! Look at that!
19:40Losing cold air through a broken seal not only adds to your electricity bills,
19:45but can speed up food deterioration, even with the door closed.
19:49These are for the baby bottles and bits and bobs.
19:53Nice and clean.
19:58It's not only the fridge which needs an overhaul.
20:00Kitchen cupboards are often neglected.
20:04You have the bottles, you need space for the sterilisers,
20:07you need space for the formula.
20:10Right.
20:11We need space on the kitchen top,
20:13and a lot of the stuff that is on the kitchen top needs to find its right storage areas.
20:20Lots and lots of different smells.
20:25There we go. Nearly done.
20:26I've got antibacterial washing-up liquid, bicarbonate of soda and white vinegar.
20:34But you must be careful how you wash it, because if you chuck loads of water down,
20:40it will swell up the wood.
20:42Most UK kitchen cabinets are made from chipboard, which isn't waterproof.
20:46We're giving it a lovely old spritz, and that's the final part.
20:51All done and dusted and ready to be organised.
20:56Shelf organisers will help Asta and Sid keep their cupboards orderly, freeing up more storage space.
21:05And some have snazzy handles, making them even more convenient.
21:11Now Maxine is finished in the kitchen, Tommy can finally get in to address all its other problems.
21:27Now I'm ready for action.
21:31Let's see what's going on here.
21:33As we look down and see why this door doesn't shut.
21:37It's catching on the frame.
21:39So what we'll do, we'll sand down the frame, and we'll also sand down the door.
21:45Very convenient place for the socket.
21:48You should always wear a mask and goggles when you sand, to avoid inhaling the sawdust or getting it in your eyes.
21:57Unlike Joe's straight line sanding earlier, Tommy's orbital sander is designed to move in circles.
22:03It can gently remove fine layers of paint without leaving scratches on the wood underneath.
22:12Voila! Perfect!
22:13Now for those troublesome kitchen drawers.
22:18Because the drawers are broken, that storage is not available.
22:22So we almost need the storage to be fixed for us to be able to create the space for what we need in the immediate future.
22:30None of the drawers work because the runners are all worn and broken.
22:34And this is the thing about a kitchen, so many people pull a kitchen out when it can be simply repaired.
22:39With even the cheapest new kitchen costing more than £8,000, Tommy's budget fixes will be music to Asta and Sid's ears.
22:48Right, let's get this down.
22:51Look, you can see one of the runners is missing, and the other runner that's in place is a bit damaged.
22:58It's a bit bent there, so I'll take this one off and replace it with new runners.
23:05You can get them from any big DIY store or go online.
23:10They come as a full set, so you get two pairs of runners, one pair for the drawer and the other pair for the carcass.
23:17Another low-cost tip to mend a wobbly drawer is to check if the screws in the runners underneath have become loose.
23:30There you go. Snug as a bag in a racket.
23:33Outside, Joe's revamping the chest of drawers old door knobs using a nifty trick.
23:44Putting them in this card and having them kind of hanging over the edge here means that I don't have to hold them awkwardly
23:50and I won't get fingerprints on my nice, fresh paintwork.
23:52If you do have the same base colour throughout your home, a cost-effective tip is to use cheap tester pots
24:00to give contrasting and distinctive pops of colour in each room.
24:04So all the knobs are done, and they're nice and dry.
24:08And the drawers are looking great, so add in just a little touch more splash of colour.
24:12What a transformation. I'm really pleased with them. I love the green and the pink together. It looks amazing.
24:33And I'm really glad that we kept that wood look around it because I feel like it just adds a bit of difference to the feature.
24:38And, yeah, I hope Aster and Sid are happy.
24:45The clock's ticking and there's still loads to be done.
24:49I'm getting a bit concerned now, so I'm just going to crack straight on.
24:56Outside, Asher's also feeling the squeeze.
24:59He's only now started to cut the MDF panelling for the nursery's back wall.
25:03I'm going to use this 18mm as the main styles in the panel.
25:10And then I also have 6mm MDF.
25:13That's going to be a backing to hide all of that textured wallpaper.
25:18And in between each panel, along the edges, I have this decorative moulding
25:24that will help add extra character.
25:26But before he can get decorative, Asher must add a base layer.
25:31OK, so I've got some undercoat primer here.
25:36The undercoat's job is to create a nice, solid foundation for the topcoat.
25:42The topcoats look pretty, but it's not as hard-wearing as the undercoat.
25:45So that's this panel done. I can set this to the side. Grab my next one.
25:57Whilst everyone's paint is drying, the team take the opportunity for a five-minute refuel.
26:06How's everyone getting on?
26:09Yeah, pretty good, I think.
26:11Oh, brilliant. Hello, Asher.
26:13Hello, hello.
26:15How are you getting on, Asher?
26:17There's a lot to do.
26:19It's important we get this right for the family.
26:22They're expecting newborns. Twins.
26:24Yeah.
26:25I'm a twin.
26:26I forgot to mention that I'm a twin.
26:28Are you?
26:29There's two of me, would you believe it?
26:32Oh, gosh.
26:33Could you imagine her?
26:34I know, I could imagine them fighting over who's doing the cleaning.
26:37Yeah.
26:38No, I always did it.
26:40Right, guys, I've got to crack on.
26:43Go on then, run on.
26:45See you later.
26:47And it's going to be a busy afternoon.
26:50Asher must complete the nursery panelling.
26:52Tommy needs to free up space on the kitchen worktops with vertical storage.
26:58Maxine has to get both the new office and nursery's spick and span.
27:03And Joe has to give another piece of furniture some TLC.
27:09But first, Tommy wants to tackle the kitchen's broken floor tiles.
27:13With twins about to arrive, when they want to play around in the kitchen
27:17or crawl around, there is the risk, because these are very sharp edges
27:20of hurting themselves.
27:23So I'll chop these out and we'll replace them with some new tiles
27:27that we found in the garden.
27:33Handily, the former owners of the house had left some spares in the shed.
27:36A very important tip when you're doing tile repairs is to make sure that the area is completely dust free.
27:51Then knock up some PVA adhesive and water with a brush, apply that over there.
27:57Seals it in and also acts as a bonding agent for the adhesive.
28:00Once you're giving that five, ten minutes to dry, put the adhesive down, tiles down, job done.
28:10It's a pre-mixed one. Give it a bit of a stir and take it straight out of the tub.
28:17To avoid any raised, sharp edges, it's important to spread the adhesive flat with a tile trowel
28:23before positioning the new tiles in place.
28:25The old magic fingers, they've done it again.
28:41Right, I think it's time for me to get my hands on this wardrobe.
28:52It's in really good condition, really sturdy piece of kit for the nurseries.
28:56If I take the doors off and the drawers out, then I can take those outside and give them a lick of paint
29:01to match the drawer unit. Another pillow as well. Look at that.
29:13Right, I'm going to set this up out here, which is a nice, high, sturdy workplace.
29:18Although, it does smell a bit of bin.
29:22Joe's using the same green again to ensure the nursery feels harmonious.
29:26I'm going to use a foam roller, which gives you a nice, flat finish on a piece of wood,
29:32so you don't get that grainy finish, and it's a good way to get a nice, even coat on.
29:47And that's the first coat on this door done, and I'm just going to get started on door number two.
29:50Did I hear someone ask for a wet rag?
29:55Oh, just in time! Hello, my dear!
29:58I've just slipped with my roller, and I could do with just a little bit of a wet rag on that one.
30:02Is this permanent paint?
30:04It is permanent, but because it's water-based and it's not dry, you can just wipe it up with a wet rag
30:09if you do happen to make mistakes, which I don't do very often, but there are times, there are times.
30:15You can see your first door.
30:17Yeah, you like the colour?
30:18Yeah, it's wonderful. Anyway, I'm off.
30:21Thanks for the rag, much appreciated.
30:23Bye!
30:24In the nursery, Ash is about to start attaching his panels to the wall, and he's using a laser level to help align them.
30:46The panels are simply fixed to the wall using a nail gun.
30:49That is the paneling done. Now I just need to frame up a few raw edges, put the moulding in, and add a little bit of colour.
31:00OK, I've got all my mouldings cut to size. What I'm doing now is pre-assembling, so gluing them all together outside of the frame.
31:18And then, I can slide and fit it in, all in one piece. And I'm using the two-part glue.
31:28Ash is applying adhesive to one side of the cut frame, and activator to the other. He then holds them together to bond.
31:35It dries. Easy as that.
31:39The moulding is simply glued into place, and the panelling is ready to be painted.
31:44This green is absolutely beautiful. Nice and warm. It's fitting for a nursery. The twins are going to love it.
31:56The twins are going to love it.
32:10We're running out of time today. Time is against us. I've just come to the boot to pick up a few bits and bobs, and I'm off.
32:16The twins will spend most of their time in the nursery, so it's important to get a deep clean.
32:28I'm in the nursery, and I'm sanitising all areas.
32:33So I'm going to clean with antibacterial soap and water.
32:44Dusty.
32:45As babies crawl and put things in their mouths, they pick up germs.
32:49Look at this underneath here.
32:53And they're far more susceptible to pollutants found in house dust.
33:03With time almost up, the team need to give a final push.
33:09In the office, a curtain fashioned from a bed sheet isn't a professional look.
33:13Whilst a fitted sheet is an ingenious window covering, I'm not sure it's fit for purpose.
33:19So I'm going to take this down, and I'm going to put a blind up instead.
33:21Right, that looks good.
33:22I'm just going to fix this chain guard.
33:31I'm just putting this final bit in.
33:43Put your finger on the trigger.
33:45Maxine's making some colourful fabric art for the nursery.
33:53All done.
33:54In the kitchen, Tommy is providing storage that cleverly uses the full height of the room.
34:01There you have it.
34:02Small job.
34:03Big impact.
34:04All I've got left is to hang these wardrobe doors and then it's going to be looking beautiful.
34:07With the couple returning shortly, there's just time for some finishing touches.
34:17It's a clever bit of kit.
34:18No dangerous cause.
34:19It's a clever bit of kit.
34:20No dangerous cause.
34:21A few last minute adjustments.
34:22Look at that.
34:23Isn't that beautiful?
34:24It's a clever bit of kit.
34:25No dangerous cause.
34:26augmented reality.
34:27Look at that.
34:28Isn't that beautiful?
34:29It's a clever bit of kit.
34:30No dangerous cause.
34:43It's a clever bit of kit.
34:44No dangerous cause.
34:46A few last minute adjustments.
34:48Look at that.
34:50Isn't that beautiful?
34:51It's so beautiful.
34:56And they're done.
35:01Maxine, Joe and Asha depart, leaving Tommy behind to greet Sid and Asta.
35:06We're done, guys.
35:08Yeah. Long day, though. It was exhausting.
35:10It certainly was.
35:12Let's get some rest.
35:13Oh, let's go.
35:14Bye. Bye, bye, bye.
35:17So with 24 hours and a limited budget,
35:20what has the Clean It, Fix It team managed to pull off for these busy parents-to-be?
35:26We hope you enjoy your new space from the Clean It, Fix It team.
35:33Hi.
35:34Hi.
35:35Welcome home.
35:37Thank you so much.
35:38Come on in and take a look at what we've been up to.
35:40The first part of our surprise for you is here in the kitchen.
35:54Oh, wow.
35:58When the team arrived, the kitchen had little storage for the twins' feeding supplies.
36:03The fridge and sink needed attention.
36:05The floor tiles were broken and dangerous, and the door wouldn't shut.
36:12But with Maxine's deep clean, the kitchen is now spotless and organised,
36:16while Tommy's DIY fixes have provided far more storage space and made it baby safe.
36:23Oh, wow. It looks...
36:24Absolutely new, to be honest.
36:27So all your drawers work now, they run, fitted new runners to them, and your cutlery drawer...
36:34Yes.
36:35Oh, wow.
36:36...is back where it should be, close to the sink.
36:37So glad about the drawers being fixed, because that just thoughts a lot of issues we had with the kitchen.
36:43Maxine cleaned all this inside and out, and she's done the sink, the worktops...
36:47Oh, it looks fantastic.
36:48...and everything.
36:49And I do need to mention the fridge.
36:52She's created some extra storage space in there for independent bottles and baby foods and all that.
36:57Do you mind if I take a look?
36:58Yes, take a look.
36:59You want to see?
37:00Yeah.
37:01And it's so clean. Oh my God, this is amazing. This is like a brand new fridge.
37:07Fridge, yeah.
37:08And I love, I love the storage baskets on top as well, that...
37:12So stuff that you don't need to get access to can go in these storage baskets.
37:17Oh, wow.
37:18And then that gets them up there out of the way, but it's still stored.
37:21Now you may also have noticed that your door is closed.
37:25So that...
37:27Oh, wow.
37:28A solid thud.
37:29A properly working door.
37:30It works fully, you know.
37:32And also, you had some badly broken tiles that were dangerous.
37:37And we found that you had some stored in the garden.
37:40We don't even need the mat anymore.
37:42Oh, brilliant.
37:43That's great.
37:45Are you happy with what we've done in here?
37:46It is fantastic.
37:48Thank you for giving it its life back.
37:51It was on the death knell, but it seems to be refreshed.
37:54So thank you so much.
37:55This is fantastic.
37:56I think it's perfect.
37:57I think this is exactly what we wanted.
38:00While they loved the kitchen, what will they think of Asta's new office space?
38:06Earlier, the spare room felt lifeless and cramped.
38:09With just a single bed, a sheet at the window and mismatched furniture.
38:16But Tommy's vibrant feature wall with Jo's blind and bright furnishings
38:20have given it a complete makeover.
38:22While taking out the bed and swapping out furniture has made the room feel larger.
38:28Best of all, Asta will be able to work right next door to the twins.
38:33Oh, my God. This looks amazing.
38:36I did this lovely feature wall so that when you're working and you're having your video appointments,
38:43it will look really nice as opposed to the rest of the room being white.
38:47But it contrasts nicely.
38:48There's a colour, it's like the green and the yellow and it's just really livened up the room.
38:54And there's a brand new...
38:56Oh, blind!
38:57...align to put on there.
38:58Excellent.
38:59So we don't have to use that horrible bed sheet anymore to cover up the space.
39:03You can't have this place.
39:05This is mine.
39:06Just the colour and the whole scheme around.
39:10Totally transformed from the way it looked earlier.
39:13Well, this will really be handy for you if you're working.
39:16Yeah.
39:17Because you'll be next door to the nursery.
39:19Yeah.
39:20And I still get a green background.
39:22I used to get access to greenery when I was on the other side and I was upset about giving up that part of my window.
39:26But actually, I've got the green space, so thank you.
39:31And now for the most important transformation of all, the twins' nursery.
39:38Before, the bedroom was jam-packed with mismatched or broken furniture, with Asta's office squeezed into the corner.
39:44But now, Asha's painting and panelling adds personality, and his furniture edit creates space for the twins' cots.
39:54Jo's up-cycled chest of drawers and wardrobe in the same shade as the panels pull the scheme together,
40:01while her patterned child-proof blind increases the nursery fun.
40:06Oh!
40:09Oh, wow.
40:10Oh, this looks amazing!
40:12Okay, I am going to cry.
40:16This is so beautiful.
40:18This is really nice.
40:19It's not a bedroom anymore, is it?
40:21No.
40:22It's a little home for the babies.
40:24The babies, yes.
40:25Oh, this is lovely.
40:27These cots you already had, so we put them together.
40:31Yeah.
40:32And this was a unit...
40:33Oh, my God!
40:34...that was here.
40:35That's been up-cycled.
40:36That's turned in...
40:37No, that's a gruffy little unit which had no handles.
40:39That was in that...
40:40Yeah, I think...
40:41Yes, this was in the other room.
40:43And if you open the wardrobe, you can see...
40:45Oh, wow!
40:47Look at those nail hangers!
40:48Oh, it's so cute!
40:50Oh, look at that!
40:52Look at that!
40:53In preparation!
40:55Oh, this is stunning!
40:57It's got all racking in there and everything for the children's clothes.
41:01This is beautiful.
41:02This is beautiful.
41:04You've got us more ready in one day than we've been in the last six months.
41:08This is unbelievable.
41:10I think we were pretty stressed about how we were going to do up this room.
41:14And that's like...
41:15This is absolutely perfect.
41:17And the room just has so much more space.
41:19Like, I didn't think we could fit in two cots here.
41:22And it's got character.
41:24I couldn't have thought of it.
41:25But now it all makes sense.
41:26It looks brilliant.
41:28You've imagined this better than I ever could.
41:32Well, we've given you a little nudge to put you back onto the perfect road.
41:36Yeah.
41:37That's true.
41:39And on that note, I think it's time for me to say goodbye and let you enjoy your new space.
41:47I really do wish you the best of luck with the verse.
41:49Thank you so much.
41:50And it's really been a pleasure to meet you both.
41:52And you.
41:53It's been lovely to be able to do something for you.
41:57Bye.
41:58See you.
41:59Take care.
42:01Oh, this is so nice.
42:05Sid and Asta, they're a really lovely couple.
42:08And they're about to enter a brand new chapter in their lives.
42:11And it's a real nice feeling to feel that you've been able to contribute in a positive way to that next chapter.
42:18Well, that's it from the Clean It Fix It team.
42:21Until the next time.
42:22See ya.
42:25The team have sorted Sid and Asta's issues with their home, giving them a good start for when the twins arrive.
42:31But after a few weeks, how are they getting on in their new spaces?
42:37Hey team.
42:38Just wanted to thank you.
42:40We are having a wonderful time.
42:42Really enjoying our nursery.
42:44Completely getting organised and excited for the little ones to arrive.
42:48Thank you for making this so easy.
42:50If you're really enjoying this, we will get into a room for you, if you will, please reных your house for a while.
43:09And it's fun to have fun at all.
