00:00However big or small, our homes should be a haven.
00:04I really need Clean It Fix It's help.
00:07Hi!
00:07But we're all feeling the pinch at the moment.
00:10Where to start?
00:11I hate DIY because I'm terrible at it.
00:14I think it's important to know your limitations.
00:16Awful.
00:17What on earth is that?
00:18It's not always easy keeping a house in order.
00:21I'm going to clean it.
00:22Tommy's going to fix it.
00:25Spot on.
00:25Simple as that.
00:27But you can take back control of your home.
00:29Look at the slug, he's got his own bar.
00:31Ooh, that's massive.
00:32With clever, common sense hacks.
00:34Sip!
00:35Come back up again.
00:38All done on a shoestring.
00:40From the old to the new.
00:42Wow!
00:43This is simply unbelief.
00:45Sometimes I'm just too good.
00:47We'll show you how you can make life-changing improvements in just 24 hours.
00:52This is actually my house.
00:54And on a next-to-nothing budget.
00:56I'm an addict!
00:57With better use and a spruce-up of your space.
01:01Wow!
01:02This is amazing!
01:04Oh!
01:07Oh, my word.
01:10No way!
01:11This is not our room.
01:13Never have.
01:13Of course you can, my pleasure.
01:15Our team of experts is here to help.
01:22Asha!
01:23Whoa!
01:24Do you reckon you can clean them?
01:26Anything can clean.
01:27We're cooking on gas.
01:28Master builder Tommy Walsh brings over 50 years of DIY experience.
01:33Look at that.
01:34You can actually dance on that.
01:36Looks good, doesn't it?
01:37Maxine Dwyer runs one of the UK's top extreme cleaning companies.
01:43Proof is in the pudding.
01:45Dirt is in the sponge.
01:47And creative carpenter Asha Edwards prides himself on being a perfectionist.
01:52You can tell I've done this before, can't you?
01:54A work of art.
01:56Cheers.
01:56Cheers.
01:57Cheers.
01:57So which household needs the team's help today?
02:05Hi, I'm Sal.
02:07I'm Sophie.
02:08I'm Kate.
02:08I'm Rich.
02:09And we're calling Clean It, Fix It to help us a bit in the house.
02:15School health practitioner Sarah and advanced paramedic practitioner husband Rich spend their
02:20days caring for other people, all the while raising four kids in their new Malden home.
02:24So I work for the ambulance service full-time, but I also do a part-time job in the GP surgery.
02:30We work 13-hour shifts.
02:32That means that there's not a lot of spare time.
02:35Instead, it's very family-focused, getting everybody to and from their activities.
02:40They're so busy saving lives that keeping on top of the cleaning schedule has become a struggle.
02:45Well, pretty much anything above eye-line could definitely do with a clean.
02:49We all try and chip in to try and get as much done as we can.
02:53On top of this, their lack of DIY knowledge is causing other issues.
02:58A knife has a blunt end so it can be used as a screwdriver.
03:01I think it's important to know your limitations.
03:03We're not quite sure how to fix things and therefore they never kind of get done.
03:11But now the most heavily used part of their home has started to suffer.
03:15Here we are in our dining room, which is the cub of the house, where we all like to sit, eat, chat, homework, all the rest of that.
03:25This is our high-traffic area.
03:27We've got storage.
03:29And we can see that the storage is well used.
03:32And then other issues that we have are the ceiling.
03:37We had leaks in and it hasn't been re-plastered yet.
03:41Their double-length dining room is a great space, but it's not working to its best potential.
03:46Computer space at the back is pretty much where all the home admin gets done.
03:51And also where we have all Richard's shifts.
03:54It's pretty difficult to memorise.
03:56Upstairs, the overcrowding problem continues.
04:03This is the first room that most of us see in the morning and it isn't really the most pleasurable of spaces.
04:11The grout's pretty dirty.
04:14So we've got these jacuzzi jets that were in the bath when we got it.
04:18And they've got loads of limescale all around them and we can't really work out how to...
04:23Get rid of it.
04:24How to get rid of it.
04:25Pasty storage area.
04:27Yeah, there's lots of areas in here, really, that we could really help with some cleaning and fixing.
04:37Today is the big clean and fix.
04:40OK, guys, everyone ready?
04:42Let's go!
04:43The family head out to give them free reign in their home.
04:49What will they be able to achieve in just 24 hours and on a limited budget?
04:55What will they be able to do with sunshine?
04:56I'll make the most of it because the forecast ain't great.
05:00Yeah, I think this is the one for us.
05:01Let's see what we've got.
05:08A little bit cluttered, to say the least.
05:10Yeah, it is.
05:11Cool.
05:12That's a nice bit of sculpture.
05:13Oh, it's an ornament.
05:14Yeah.
05:15Flat tires.
05:16Ah!
05:17All right.
05:18Shall we go in here and have a look at this next room?
05:21Yeah.
05:22Yeah.
05:23Yeah.
05:24Plenty of work to be done in here.
05:25Look at the drawers.
05:26Yeah.
05:27There's everything in there.
05:28And this wall completely covered in kids' art and all that.
05:31I can see the value of that, but really it's taken over, so that needs to be reduced.
05:37And this needs to be repaired, the plaster work, and painted.
05:41Well, it's a really big room.
05:43They have lots of friends and families coming over.
05:45It's true, but it needs brightening up a little bit.
05:47Look, there's an office area down there as well.
05:50Oh, they've even got a meal planner, look.
05:53It'd be nice to separate this from the dining room, though, wouldn't it?
05:56Yeah.
05:57They've utilised all of the space really well, though, but it's just a bit chaotic.
06:01Yeah.
06:02It needs to be brightened up a bit, you know?
06:04Look at the wall.
06:05Don't paint this wall, thanks.
06:07The measuring wall.
06:10I've got this in my house.
06:12Enough of you.
06:13Let's go upstairs and have a look.
06:15OK, yeah.
06:23Oof.
06:24The bathroom.
06:25The first thing that catches my eye is this big storage unit covered in dust.
06:31Look!
06:32Look at all of that!
06:34So you probably have to find a different way of storing this stuff.
06:38Yeah, the grout that he's doing.
06:40And the jets as well.
06:41Look at the jets.
06:42Look, there's a picture of Maxine there.
06:46You've got to say, that is a good one.
06:49Well done!
06:52And that's me.
06:53Help!
06:54Help!
06:55Help!
06:56Come on, let's go and get the tools out of the motor.
06:58Come on, then.
06:59The team has their work cut out, creating a home that will be both beautiful and efficient.
07:11Tommy will focus on the double-length dining room office.
07:14He'll paint the walls in two colours to define distinct zones, increase the storage to help with the organisation, and tidy up the ceiling leak.
07:22In the bathroom, Maxine will deep-clean the lime-scaled shower, bath, sink and wire shelving.
07:32While Asha will build a bespoke water-resistant bathroom unit that not only offers more storage, but also saves cleaning time.
07:39Any clutter will be set to one side for the family to go through later.
07:46With so much to do, there's not a moment to waste.
07:49Asha's first job is coming up with the design to improve the chrome shelving, overfilled with all the family's toiletries and medicines on show.
08:16Both Rich and I are in health.
08:19That means that we have an interest in keeping everyone well and healthy.
08:23Therefore, we've got a lot of over-the-counter medicines.
08:29So, this storage unit is a bit of an eyesore.
08:32You can see all the dust building up everywhere.
08:35Cluttered spaces can cause double trouble.
08:39Dust gathers unseen, and they're less likely to be cleaned on a regular basis.
08:43Hello!
08:45Maxine!
08:46Hello!
08:47You've come just in time!
08:49What's behind there?
08:50Come and have a look at the dust all down there.
08:53Probably hasn't been moved in ages!
08:55You know what it's like!
08:56Yes, yes, yes!
08:57It's skin!
08:59It's hair!
09:00I was touching it!
09:02It dust mites!
09:03Where's the gloves?
09:04I found some!
09:05They're too small for me, Maxine!
09:07No, they're not!
09:08They're too big for me!
09:09Look, put them on!
09:10Let me see!
09:11What the length!
09:12Oh, yes, it's true!
09:13It's true!
09:14I'll let you off then!
09:15Put them back in there!
09:16I'll do the cleaning!
09:17You concentrate on building!
09:18So, the shelving unit, what is your plan?
09:20This is metal and you're a woodwork guy!
09:23So, I'm actually going to reuse the metal framework.
09:27However, I want to house it in a box in, so it's not going to collect all of this dust.
09:33And it will be a bit prettier to look at as well.
09:36Oh!
09:37It's going to be a teamwork combo in here, me and you!
09:39Definitely!
09:40Yeah!
09:41Perfect!
09:46So, I'm planning on cutting the legs.
09:48I then can create a nice housing for the framework to sit inside.
09:57And perhaps create some extra shelves just on the side.
10:01So, all of the small little shampoo bottles can have a home outside of the unit.
10:07And the inside can be dedicated to all of the medical supplies.
10:13And then it will be a lot tidier.
10:15Downstairs, Tommy's addressing more of the family storage problems.
10:31Now, this unit, although nice and stable, there is a bit of movement on it.
10:43And they should really be fixed back to the wall because the danger of them being overloaded with weight and then falling forward.
10:49They were supported at one time, but someone's undone all the screws.
10:53So, I've straightened up the bracket, put a new plug in the wall and I'm going to screw this back home.
10:59I feel happier now because this is much safer than it was.
11:11Solid as a rock.
11:13And this is remnants of the flood.
11:19That must have happened to this ceiling.
11:22To help the dining room further, Tommy turns to a quick fix that Brits spend £24 billion on a year.
11:40This is a flat pack storage box, but it's also going to double up as a bench with an upholstered cushion at the top.
11:48And the golden rules, as you know, measure twice, cut once.
11:52With the flat packs, read the instructions twice thoroughly, then attack the project.
12:10This combined seating and storage bench might be a stretch at £114, but it's doing two jobs and fits in with the family's existing scheme.
12:26Looks good, doesn't it?
12:31Maxine's first job is the bathroom's chrome-plated shelving.
12:35It's important to dust anything that you're washing, simply because the minute water touches it, it will make it even harder for the little balls of fluff to come off.
12:50You should always dust from the top first and work your way down.
12:54Get all the dust off and then you can good old wet wash.
12:59I'm going to make up a solution of a bit of water, baking soda.
13:04So that's a bit of a paste and a tip of washing up liquid.
13:10Vinegar, baking soda and washing up liquid will help lift any grease and dirt and is safe to use on chrome.
13:17This is absolute perfect teamwork between me and Asha.
13:21Woo! Create some bubbles here.
13:25Wonderful!
13:27Maxine!
13:40Hello, my dear!
13:42How are you getting on?
13:43Not too bad.
13:44Is the dust coming off all right?
13:45Yes, it's coming up perfect.
13:46How much longer until I get it back?
13:48Not long.
13:49Easy, easy, easy peasy to wash up.
13:52Yep.
13:53Oh!
13:54The stool's giving way.
13:55Do you want me to reinforce it?
13:57No, this is supposed to go up and down just like this.
14:01Snazzy!
14:02Hello tummy luck!
14:03I can see you can play that.
14:05Where's the music, though?
14:06I thought you were singing.
14:07Come on in.
14:08Once cleaned, the chrome shelving will sit inside Asha's bespoke cabinet and hide away the family's medical supplies.
14:16But Asha needs to construct it from material that is suitable for bathroom use.
14:21So I've got this green, moisture resistant MDF.
14:25If you were to use standard MDF in the bathroom or wet areas, over time it will start to expand and swell.
14:33It's not ideal.
14:35So this green stuff, it's not waterproof, but it's moisture resistant.
14:41So it stands a better fighting chance against the water.
14:45So my first step is to get a cotton list ready.
14:50I'm going to cut everything I can now, whilst the weather is still on my side.
14:56Asha's clever design adds open shelves to the side of the cabinet, giving the family easy access to all their day-to-day toiletries.
15:04That's my first cut done.
15:12A million more to go.
15:14spread of the City's cascade set up at the factory those days.
15:15Yes, it is.
15:19One, two, three, four things that is finished, as입.
15:24Two things that are bevoring out there is still here, I sided else and renovate the doors,
15:39Next up on Tommy's dining room to-do list is painting.
15:48You always have to remember a very simple law of painting and decorating.
15:54And the finish is only ever as good as the amount of effort you put into the preparation.
16:00So we've got to get this as smooth and sellotape and adhesive free as possible.
16:04Surface fixings are relatively easy to remove,
16:08but some deeper fixings, like wall plugs, require special attention.
16:13So the right way to do it is a little tip.
16:16Take a screw, screwing, don't have to go too far in.
16:20So what I'm going to do, pull it out with the claw in the hammer,
16:24but I don't want to do any damage, so I'm going to be putting a scraper underneath the hammer.
16:29So, fill that with some filler, then dry, rub it down, and Bob's your uncle.
16:37With the prep complete, it's time to tidy up one of Sarah's biggest bugbears.
16:43OK, so we have bare plaster work, which we're obviously not proud of.
16:47We haven't quite got around to painting it yet.
16:53Tommy has chosen a bright white shade of paint today that will help bounce light around the room.
16:58Not only when you're doing a ceiling, to use one of these extending rods,
17:02because you haven't got to climb up ladders and run the risk of falling off a ladder
17:06or stepping down into the paint roller tray.
17:09But also, it gives you good coverage.
17:12It's important that when you're patching in a ceiling like we are here,
17:17that you don't just do the patch.
17:19You've got to go over the whole ceiling,
17:21so that it looks all uniform the way it should do.
17:24And remember, painting the ceiling before the walls
17:29will stop spray from the roller dripping onto your work.
17:41Before Asher can fit his new cabinet, Maxine needs to work her magic.
17:46This is unbelievable.
17:48Tons and tons of dust.
17:49First of all, before I wash down, I need to get rid of the dust.
17:53That's for sure.
17:55This area is where Asher's unit is going to go.
17:58There is a mammoth amount of dust.
18:01With the average person shedding 10 grams of dead skin a week,
18:05it's no wonder this high footfall room has a lot of dust.
18:09Oh, look at that.
18:10But Maxine's special brush can get into every nook and cranny.
18:13Here's the loofah time now.
18:15Ooh.
18:19Drag it across.
18:23Get the dust.
18:24This is the deal.
18:25You need to keep your radiators clean and dust-free
18:28so that they can work efficiently.
18:31Dust on a radiator acts like insulation,
18:34reducing the heat warming the air.
18:36Your heating system must work harder to warm the room,
18:39costing you more money.
18:41Something there.
18:43Ooh, found it.
18:44Don't need nothing less.
18:48Just good old soapy water.
18:51Can you see the difference?
18:54Yeah.
18:58Scrubbing bush.
19:00Baking soda and white vinegar.
19:03Can you see that bubbling?
19:04Ooh.
19:07Have a rag underneath because it will drip.
19:09Grout is porous and absorbs dirt and moisture,
19:14making it a breeding ground for bacteria in a steamy bathroom.
19:17You just use the edge of the brush.
19:19You can see a line.
19:20So you work to the line.
19:23See a line?
19:23Work to the ground rather than like this.
19:25It won't happen.
19:26Yep.
19:27Even the bathroom floor can be tackled with the same cleaning concoction.
19:35We're in a circular motion.
19:37Get rid of the scum.
19:40And this will clean it, sanitise it,
19:42and deodorise it.
19:44So I've just about finished constructing this open storage shelf.
20:04And this is just going to be that extra storage for the family.
20:09All I'm doing is using a bit of wood adhesive.
20:14And then I use my nail gun just to hold it in place.
20:20The screws give it that extra security.
20:23Then just wipe off the excess glue.
20:27And that is good to go.
20:29The next thing I need to do is give this a lick of paint.
20:37Ooh, that's massive.
20:48Even though this is moisture-resistant MDF,
20:51it's still important to go through the correct stages of painting and prep work.
20:57So I'm using primer undercoat to seal and provide a solid coat for the top coat.
21:12Woo-hoo!
21:13That could have been real bad.
21:17Now Tommy has solved the dining room storage problem,
21:20he can turn his attention to its next issue.
21:22What I would like for the dining room is that it's a multifunctional space
21:28and it can be used as that easily and quickly
21:32without having to clear loads of stuff.
21:36Tommy has a simple trick for defining zones in open-plan areas,
21:40helping keep everything in its place.
21:42Two different paint colours.
21:44I think those two colours work exceptionally well together.
21:47I can't wait to see the walls covered in it.
21:56Here we go.
22:01Looking great.
22:02And as it dries,
22:04that will dry probably just a toned lighter.
22:07And that will be even nicer.
22:08I prefer to cut it in rather than use tape
22:25because I think you get the paint exactly where you want it
22:29and it's quicker.
22:31Talking of time,
22:33I've got loads to do
22:34and very little time to do it in.
22:35Upstairs, Maxine's going great guns
22:41tackling the family's bathroom issues.
22:45It's our chores
22:46to clean the bathroom every week
22:48but sometimes they don't get done
22:50just because we have a lot on
22:52throughout the weekends
22:53and that's the only time we have to do it
22:55but we try and do it when we can.
22:58Your bathroom should be cleaned weekly
23:00with the toilet and sink getting attention
23:02every couple of days.
23:03I'm going to do the wash basin.
23:06I've got my solution.
23:08It's the same.
23:09Bicarbonate of soda,
23:10white vinegar
23:11and a tip of washing up liquid.
23:15I'm going to smear the taps with it.
23:19When hard water evaporates,
23:21it can leave behind lime scale
23:22which will eventually form hard calcium deposits
23:25especially on your taps.
23:26This toothbrush is good for doing
23:29right underneath the taps.
23:31Oh, look at this.
23:33You can see.
23:35Absolutely wonderful.
23:37Right here like this.
23:38Ooh.
23:40At where a rag may not get.
23:43So this is good to scrub
23:45and leave on.
23:46Do not take it off yet
23:48because we're scrubbing.
23:50Oh, did you see that?
23:51That flipped.
23:52Just click.
23:55Brush it like you're brushing your teeth.
23:57That's it.
23:58Oh, wow.
23:59It's never ending.
24:00It's coming in.
24:01It's coming in.
24:03With the morning fast disappearing,
24:05Asha must also make a start in the bathroom.
24:11So I'm fixing to the wall
24:13some French cleats.
24:14This is a handy bracket system
24:18where one part is fixed to the wall.
24:22The second part is going to be fixed
24:24to the back of my unit
24:25and they can interlock
24:27just by lifting and hooking together.
24:32Just like that.
24:34Once the first cleat is secured to the wall,
24:37even a heavy cabinet can be hung securely.
24:39How come my tile didn't crack?
24:46It's about the speed.
24:47So I start off nice and slow.
24:49Even when you're doing the tile?
24:51So if you're drilling in the middle,
24:53then you'll need a different type of drill bit.
24:55But where I'm going in the middle with the grout,
24:57I can use my masonry bit,
24:59do it nice and slow to start it
25:01and then you can speed it up.
25:03Wow.
25:04That is absolutely brilliant.
25:05It's all in the tekkers.
25:06Meanwhile, Maxine's solution
25:09has been doing its job on the grime
25:11and built up limescale in the sink.
25:14Look at the colour of this.
25:17Oh, wonderful.
25:20It's a drop in from where?
25:22Oh!
25:24When you think you're finished,
25:26you haven't.
25:27Look at this.
25:28I was rinsing down
25:29and look at,
25:29I turned this and bam.
25:31There you go.
25:33That's the sink done now.
25:35Yeah, all finished.
25:36It's looking a lot better than it was.
25:38But the worst limescale offenders
25:40in this bathroom
25:41are the shower and bath.
25:43It's bath time.
25:44Here we go.
25:45Here's my solution.
25:48There you go.
25:50Continuation of my baking soda solution.
25:53The shower head needs cleaning.
25:55I'm going to do this first of all.
25:57Once it builds up,
25:58it's a nightmare to get rid of,
26:00so it's best to keep on top of it.
26:03It's not only limescale
26:04that can cause problems.
26:06Wet and warm bathrooms
26:07are the perfect conditions
26:08for bacteria.
26:10Mould grows on shower heads
26:11and can lead to respiratory problems.
26:14Let's have a look
26:14and see if it showers
26:15as it should.
26:17Woo!
26:17You can put it in the bag overnight
26:21with vinegar,
26:22but I'm short for time.
26:24I can't be doing it overnight,
26:26so you just give it a good old scrubbing.
26:30Remember, don't yank this
26:31because the minute you have a break in this,
26:33that's the end.
26:34You have to buy a new one.
26:37Let the limescale remove on.
26:38And down here as well.
26:51Rinse this off.
26:55Maxine's store cupboard ingredients
26:57can also be used on the acrylic bath.
27:01This is a new bit of kit
27:02and it works wonders.
27:05There's a lot of limescale in here.
27:08It's like a big electric toothbrush.
27:11When the limescale is too far gone,
27:15you have to come in with a tough voice.
27:17Extreme limescale.
27:20Electric spin scrubbers,
27:22costing around £40,
27:24can be helpful for large expanses
27:26when time is short.
27:27You see the difference instantly.
27:30An old toothbrush is perfect
27:32for nooks and crannies.
27:34This task is to clean the jets.
27:38White vinegar,
27:39washing up liquid
27:40and bicarbonate of soda.
27:45But yeah, I'm using this solution
27:47and a delicate brush
27:49because it's good for the environment
27:51and it doesn't damage the water jet.
27:54It's quite a buildable limescale here, though.
27:57Oh, this one's come up lovely.
27:59Oh, wow, look at this.
28:03Let me rinse this off now.
28:04Rinse it and see.
28:07All done.
28:09Whee!
28:11Now Maxine is finished cleaning,
28:13Asha can crack on with the storage.
28:16OK, ready for the next stage.
28:18I've got the back all fixed and secured
28:21and you can see 45-degree angles
28:24facing down,
28:26ready to be accepted
28:27by the 45-degree angles
28:30facing up.
28:32So I just need to
28:33offer it in place.
28:38Just like that.
28:42Simple as that.
28:45Asha can now affix
28:47the rest of the unit
28:48and open shelves
28:48onto the back panel.
28:49How are you getting on inside?
29:00It's coming on good.
29:01Yeah, yeah.
29:01Yeah, there's a lot of work
29:02to do up in the bathroom.
29:05DIY and that sort of stuff
29:06comes very low on the list.
29:08They're too busy saving lives.
29:09Well, that's right.
29:10And they know the value
29:11of time
29:13so they want to spend
29:15their time
29:15enjoying themselves.
29:17I don't blame them.
29:17True.
29:18Well, let's cheers to that then.
29:20Cheers indeed.
29:21To the big boys
29:22and the good girls.
29:23Hooray!
29:24Uh-oh!
29:25Look at the rain!
29:26The rain's coming down
29:26a bit too much.
29:27Let's go.
29:28And it's no bad thing.
29:30With Sarah, Richard
29:31and the girls
29:32returning very soon,
29:33the team need
29:33to pick up the pace.
29:37Asha must finish
29:38the bathroom's
29:38new storage unit.
29:39Tommy has to transform
29:42the office end
29:42of the dining room,
29:44leaving Maxine
29:45to spruce up
29:46the unit Tommy
29:47fixed earlier.
29:51It needs to be
29:52cleared by me
29:53washing up soap
29:54and then
29:55a spritz of vinegar.
29:57Ooh!
29:58Look at this.
30:01Washing up liquid
30:02will clean the surface
30:03while vinegar
30:03acts as a disinfectant.
30:05Absolutely glorious
30:13storage space.
30:15Squeeze it out
30:16and then give it
30:16a spritz of your vinegar.
30:18Just a little spritz
30:19and then...
30:29With the cubed unit
30:31properly cleaned
30:32for the first time
30:32in years,
30:33the family now
30:34needs a time-saving
30:35system
30:35for how
30:36they store items.
30:38We have found
30:39some things
30:40in some cubes
30:40that we haven't
30:41seen for years.
30:42I found my iPod
30:43that I had
30:44about 10 years ago
30:45in a Play-Doh drawer.
30:47Everything is put
30:48into cubes
30:49where there's spaces
30:50and then
30:51we can't find it.
30:55Tommy's idea
30:56is to use each cube
30:57to organise
30:57a different aspect
30:58of this busy
30:59family's life.
31:01They're a big family
31:02so obviously
31:03they have a lot
31:04of stuff.
31:05there's no pattern
31:06of order
31:06to where all the
31:07stuff is stored.
31:09So what we're
31:10trying to do
31:10is organise it
31:12better
31:12and give them
31:13the individual boxes
31:14for individual
31:15things.
31:16By using
31:17these extra storage
31:19baskets
31:19we will free up
31:20the space
31:21for the plastic ones
31:22to go up on top
31:23of the unit
31:24so we'll get another
31:25five or six boxes
31:26of space
31:27that we never had before.
31:28right now
31:30we're going to start
31:31off with all
31:31the bike stuff
31:32and it's also
31:36good not to
31:37overfill them
31:38because that
31:39discourages you
31:40from looking
31:41through it
31:41to get the piece
31:42that you want
31:43right at the bottom.
31:45Now for the final
31:46piece of the puzzle
31:46tidying up
31:50everything
31:50and also bringing
31:51colour
31:52to the party.
31:53Perfect.
31:56Costing around
31:57three pounds
31:58a cube
31:58it's easy
31:59on the pocket.
32:00You could go
32:01even further
32:01with discreet
32:02labelling
32:02or allocate
32:03different cubes
32:04to different
32:04family members.
32:06That's that one.
32:11In the bathroom
32:12Ash has constructed
32:14the body
32:14of his storage unit
32:15attached it
32:16to the back
32:16panel with screws
32:17and glue
32:18and is now
32:18assembling
32:19the open
32:19side shelf.
32:23Okay so I'm
32:24about to add
32:25this extension
32:27of shelves
32:28to the side
32:29of my unit.
32:34So that has
32:35gone in
32:36pretty good
32:37but I still
32:38need to screw
32:39and fix it
32:41to the wall.
32:51Pretty happy
32:52with it.
32:53and it's just
32:54the right size
32:55as well.
33:02This is a
33:03very busy
33:04house.
33:05Rich is a
33:06medic
33:06and he has
33:07a planner
33:08for his work
33:09so that's
33:10crucial
33:10and also
33:11they have
33:12this whiteboard
33:12and this
33:13was in the
33:14dining area
33:15it's not really
33:16the right place
33:16for it
33:17so I'm going
33:18to put this
33:18up in the
33:19home office
33:20end of the
33:20room.
33:23Even if you
33:24don't have
33:25two jobs
33:25you need
33:25to juggle
33:26like Richard
33:27separate planners
33:28side by side
33:29for your personal
33:29and work
33:30engagements
33:30can help
33:31you stay
33:31organised.
33:32That's
33:341200
33:34so 600
33:36is halfway
33:37there.
33:40With the day
33:41almost over
33:41it's time for the
33:43team to give it
33:43the final push.
33:44the final push.
33:50Okay
33:51that's the
33:51metal cage
33:52in
33:52and now
33:54all I need
33:54to do
33:55is put
33:55all the
33:56medical gear
33:56back in.
34:08Cleaning
34:09the blinds
34:10just got
34:11the soft
34:11detachment
34:12for the
34:12vacuum cleaner.
34:14And there
34:15you go.
34:16Maxine
34:16manages to
34:17squeeze in
34:17a job
34:18in the
34:18lounge
34:18that's not
34:19even on
34:19her list
34:19for the
34:20day.
34:21Gently
34:21does it
34:22though
34:22because you
34:23don't want
34:23to break
34:24the blinds.
34:29Yeah.
34:32You can see
34:32them shiny
34:33and clean
34:34now.
34:38And with
34:39a few
34:39last minute
34:40adjustments
34:41that's it.
34:49That looks
34:50better
34:50doesn't it?
34:51Tommy's
34:52kindly
34:52taken all
34:53these pictures
34:53off the
34:54wall.
34:55They're all
34:55keepsakes
34:56and I'm just
34:56filing them.
34:58Lovely
34:58wonderful
34:59pictures.
35:01Job done.
35:03Pictures
35:03sorted.
35:03They're finally
35:13done.
35:13Perfect.
35:19Maxine and
35:20Asha depart,
35:21leaving Tommy
35:22behind to greet
35:22Sarah, Rich and
35:24the girls.
35:24Finally finished,
35:25Asha.
35:26It's been a long
35:27day.
35:27It certainly has.
35:29Let's be off.
35:29There we go.
35:32The rain.
35:35So with 24
35:36hours and a
35:37limited budget,
35:38has the Clean It,
35:39Fix It team
35:40managed to make
35:41the busiest rooms
35:42in the home
35:42organised and
35:43attractive enough
35:44for this time
35:44strapped family?
35:46We hope you
35:47enjoy your new
35:48space from the
35:49Clean It, Fix It
35:50team.
35:50Aw.
35:52Hello.
35:53Welcome home,
35:54Sarah and
35:55Richard,
35:55Sophie and
35:56Kate.
35:57Do you want
35:57to come on
35:58in?
35:59Right, the
36:04first thing I
36:05want you to
36:05see is upstairs.
36:12So...
36:12Oh, my God.
36:15Wow.
36:16Oh, my God.
36:18It looks so
36:19different.
36:22Before the team
36:23arrived, the
36:24bathroom was
36:24besieged by
36:25limescale.
36:26The ugly open
36:27wire storage was
36:28full of dust.
36:29But Maxine's
36:32deep clean has
36:33banished the
36:34bathroom of
36:34limescale, so the
36:36surfaces are bright
36:37and clean.
36:39While Asha's
36:40attractive,
36:41moisture-resistant
36:42unit protects the
36:43chrome shelving
36:43inside and provides
36:45increased capacity.
36:47Absolutely
36:48incredible.
36:49Oh, my God.
36:52Oh, my God.
36:52Oh, wow.
36:55All organized.
36:55Look at it.
36:56It looks so much nicer.
36:57Oh, wow.
36:58That's so much better,
36:58isn't it?
36:59Yeah.
36:59Much better.
37:01What do you think,
37:01Sophie?
37:02It's so much more
37:03organized now.
37:03It's just, like,
37:04so ugly.
37:06What are you saying?
37:07It's so nice to just
37:09get it all away.
37:10And, yeah, it looks much
37:11better.
37:11It does look much
37:12better.
37:13Maxine has cleaned
37:14all the grout
37:15and the bath,
37:17those jets.
37:19Yeah.
37:19She's got them
37:20and the shower,
37:21which was all
37:23limescaled up
37:24completely.
37:25Yeah.
37:25She stripped that
37:26right back.
37:27It's in very good
37:27condition now.
37:28Oh, wow.
37:29And she also did
37:30the sink.
37:31And everything's
37:32been given a good
37:33clean holder.
37:35Wow.
37:35And there's a new
37:35curtain.
37:36And a new shower
37:36curtain, yeah.
37:37Do you like what
37:38we've done?
37:39Really love it.
37:39It's fantastic.
37:40It's amazing.
37:40Really, really good.
37:42Well, I think now
37:43we should go downstairs
37:44and have a look
37:45at the next room,
37:46yeah?
37:46OK.
37:47Brilliant.
37:48On their way,
37:49there's just the chance
37:50for Tommy to show
37:51off a few bonus fixes
37:52the team squeezed
37:53in in the lounge.
37:58Maxine's deep clean
37:59of the Venetian blinds
38:01has brightened up
38:01the space.
38:02And leftover paint
38:03from Tommy's dining
38:04room ceiling has
38:05covered up the
38:06plaster eyesore.
38:08Oh, wow.
38:10This is a whole
38:11new dynamic.
38:13So, what do you
38:13think?
38:14Well, I can't
38:16really talk.
38:17It looks so...
38:17I haven't seen the
38:18blinds like that
38:19for a very long time.
38:20Very long time.
38:21I love it.
38:21I'm sort of...
38:22The plaster has gone
38:23and that's...
38:24I've just been there
38:25forever.
38:26It's going to be
38:26the catalyst as well.
38:27And I'll be very
38:28pleased if that's the
38:29case.
38:30Next, I'd like to
38:31bring you into this
38:32room.
38:33There's more.
38:34There is more.
38:34And you've only had
38:35a day.
38:35I've only had a day
38:36and I think you'll be
38:37pleased with what
38:38you're about to see.
38:40But it's the
38:40transformation of the
38:41multifunctional dining room
38:43which will have the
38:43biggest impact on this
38:45time-restricted family.
38:47Earlier, the
38:48unfinished dining room
38:49was a muddled mess as
38:51it tried to work as a
38:52space for the family to
38:53eat, work and play.
38:55Storage was overflowing
38:56and clutter was spreading
38:58from one half of the room
38:59to the other.
39:02But Tommy's extensive work
39:04has worked wonders.
39:06He's painted the walls in
39:07two complementing colours to
39:09zone the dining and office
39:11areas.
39:12He's maximised the storage in
39:13the cubed unit while also
39:15making it safe.
39:17His flat-packed bench provides
39:19extra storage and seating and
39:21he's given the stained ceiling
39:22a complete refresh.
39:24Wow.
39:27Oh, my God.
39:28Sorry, is this actually my
39:30house?
39:30I'm like, I can't, this is
39:33just like...
39:34So different.
39:35I'm blown away.
39:37What do you girls think?
39:38I just...
39:39It's so good.
39:40It looks so different.
39:42Yeah, it's amazing.
39:44Oh, look at the cubes.
39:45The games.
39:46All your games are all in this
39:47top one.
39:48And you've got another layer
39:49of storage.
39:49So that freed up these ones
39:51to go on the very top.
39:53It looks so nice.
39:54Like we've lost our tower.
39:57Our leading tower of...
39:59Our tower of Tosh.
40:00And I fitted this back to
40:02the wall.
40:02Oh, did you?
40:03Because it was a danger.
40:06Yes.
40:06So now it's solid.
40:08That's brilliant.
40:09Because that was something
40:09that worried me.
40:10All the colours over there.
40:11Yes, we've zoned it with
40:12colour.
40:13It's amazing.
40:14It's honestly wild.
40:16It's just so different.
40:19I just can't believe it.
40:20Yes, it was wild.
40:21I love the colours.
40:22I love the colours.
40:23We've also got you this
40:25cabinet over here that has
40:27got storage.
40:28And there's also the seat
40:30on top.
40:31So that if you have people
40:32round, you'll get an extra
40:33two or three people.
40:34Yeah, that's fantastic.
40:35That's always a bit of a challenge.
40:36That is always a challenge.
40:38Running around trying to find
40:39numerous camping tables
40:40and camping stairs.
40:40Tables and stalls and...
40:42Wow.
40:43Plaster.
40:44Look at the plaster.
40:45Oh, look at the plaster.
40:46Again, we've got rid of
40:47all that plaster.
40:48Oh.
40:49You've got some of your
40:50home back and somewhere
40:52nice for you to enjoy
40:53a lovely dinner.
40:56Do you want to go into
40:57the pink zone and have
40:58a closer look at the work?
41:00Definitely.
41:01And the idea was to give
41:03this area a bit of a lift
41:04so that you'd be able to
41:05find encouragement to go in
41:06and actually work in this
41:07space.
41:07Yeah, that's nice and
41:09bright.
41:09But we did stick to the
41:10rules about what you
41:12wanted to do.
41:12Yes.
41:12I have this in my house.
41:15Very important.
41:17Thank you so much.
41:18I think on that note, I
41:19should let you enjoy
41:21your new space.
41:23I'll let myself out.
41:25So I'll see you.
41:25Enjoy it all.
41:27Bye.
41:28Bye.
41:29It looks so good.
41:31Think you can keep it this
41:32tidy, girls?
41:33Hopefully.
41:34Oh, he's loving that.
41:37Look.
41:38I think, well, I can't
41:39possibly do it in a day,
41:40but it just shows that you
41:41can.
41:42Thank you, Clean It Fixer.
41:46What a lovely and
41:47deserving family.
41:50I mean, Richard's a
41:52paramedic.
41:53Sarah was a paramedic,
41:54but now she's in a different
41:55part of the medical
41:56profession.
41:57But they give of
41:58themselves the whole time.
41:59So it's really nice just
42:01to give something back.
42:03Another happy family.
42:05On to the next one.
42:07The team have sorted
42:08Sarah and Richard's issues,
42:10giving them the restart
42:11they needed to make the
42:12best use of their home.
42:14But after a few weeks,
42:16how are they getting on
42:17in their new spaces?
42:18We're really enjoying
42:20the stairs.
42:21We're just playing a
42:22little family game at the
42:23moment.
42:24All in, we're really,
42:25really pleased with the
42:27family space that we
42:29we've now got.
42:30Thank you very much.
