00:00At the 27th pick in the 2025 NBA draft, the pick now in for the Brooklyn Nets once again,
00:07courtesy, I believe, of the Denver Nuggets, 27th overall. It is a big man in Danny Wolfe,
00:15the seven-footer out of Michigan who can do a little bit of everything on the basketball
00:20for, as we saw last year at Ann Arbor, and of course, during his time in New Haven
00:25for the Bulldogs as well. Two back-to-back members of the tribe, by the way,
00:31in Ben Serra from Israel, and Danny Wolfe, of course, at 27th overall.
00:37So, as of this moment, the Nets have used all five of their first-round picks.
00:43So what draft grade would you give this Nets front office on night number one?
00:49An F.
00:50Okay.
00:50But I'm... It's an F because of the fact that there's no...
00:55They took three point cards.
00:57Right.
00:57Like, that's the part I don't get.
01:00Listen, personally, I love Danny Wolfe.
01:02I love his game.
01:03I love the fact that this kid excelled, you know, made a run, looked good, obviously,
01:07in that 13-4 game versus, I do believe, Auburn.
01:10Yeah.
01:10And kind of played himself into a powerful offer.
01:14Played really well at Michigan.
01:16Him and Vlad Golden as a double-big combo.
01:19What it allowed...
01:20It showed Danny to do is his ability to play inside and out.
01:23I think that is important for him and something that they don't have in Brooklyn.
01:28If you think about De'Ron Sharp and you think about Nick Claxton, those are back-to-the-basket,
01:32offensive rebounds.
01:33This is a guy who can stretch the floor.
01:34Play that modern-day European basketball.
01:39And you start looking around with all the international flair.
01:42Jordy Fernandez being from Spain.
01:44It seems like the Nets are really going with an international flair.
01:47Again, a type, to say the least, Kevin Walsh and Tom Vecchio.
01:52Kev, JY gave the Nets an F.
01:55Do you give them anything better?
01:58Yeah.
01:58First of all, I'm challenging the F grade he gave.
02:03He sneaky-liked Agor Demmon until I bullied him into not, like, flagging Demmon.
02:07And he's obsessed with Danny Wolfe.
02:09So I'm challenging that grade immediately.
02:12I'm also challenging that they only took three point guards.
02:14The entire selling point on Danny Wolfe is that he's, like, a seven-foot point guard.
02:20So they – what are you timing out, coach?
02:22Time out.
02:23Time out.
02:23I got five left.
02:24Now, listen.
02:25Wait.
02:25Where's Danny Wolfe?
02:26He's not even up here.
02:27Okay.
02:27We'll get him up here in a second.
02:28But, listen.
02:29We have four monitors.
02:29No, we won't.
02:30It's because – yeah, we need five monitors up here.
02:33It's because of the fact, Kev, you took three point guards.
02:37That doesn't make sense.
02:39Do I like Igor?
02:41Not at eight.
02:42In the mid-teens, yes.
02:43Do I like Danny Wolfe where they got him?
02:46Yeah.
02:46Oh, there he is.
02:47Do I like Danny Wolfe where he got him?
02:48Yes.
02:49But to me, Kevin, like, you're a basketball guy.
02:52If you're a coach like me and the gym wants you to say, hey, I got good news for you.
02:59I got you a point guard.
03:01But the bad news is I got you three.
03:03So I got you three point guards.
03:06None of them are ready to step in and play right away.
03:08They're all kind of projects in their own way.
03:10Like, if I'm Jordy Fernandez, I mean, I'm sure you're on board with it, but it doesn't make a lot of sense.
03:16You got to agree with that.
03:18Go ahead, Todd.
03:19I don't think it makes a lot of sense because none of them are scoring threats, really.
03:26Right?
03:27Where it's like you look at them and you're like, well, he's a fantastic passer, but he can't really.
03:31Yeah, shooting.
03:32He needs to develop the shooting.
03:33So if one of them was just a pure scoring guard, you can make the argument that he would fit a piece.
03:39But when they all are kind of bigger bodied, you know, 6'6", 6'8", they're not great shooters.
03:44All they do is pass.
03:45It's like you need to have some type of scoring because if the identity of the Nets are trying to build are a tough defensive team that can score in stretches and it's led by just a handful of players.
03:57I'm not sure if that's going to work.
03:59I think one of the fascinating things is that this team prioritized big ball handlers.
04:04Yeah.
04:05Right?
04:05In terms of certainly you see that with Demen and Sarov.
04:08You know, it's not that Nolan Traore is small.
04:11And again, Danny Wolfe shouldn't be left out of the conversation.
04:14Wolfe is at his best actually with the ball in his hands.
04:18I just think it's interesting for this team to select five times.
04:23You would have thought they would have taken some swings on some pedigree freshmen.
04:27The Montverde boys, right?
04:29When you think about Liam McNeely.
04:31I'm not even going to get into eight.
04:32What about, you know, Asa Newell?
04:34Asa Newell, could that have possibly been something that this team concerns?
04:38I just think it's, and of course, Chase Richardson, it's a really surprising use of five draft picks.
