00:00with the 28th overall pick, JY, the Celtics on the clock, and that selection is now officially
00:06in. From Spain, Hugo Gonzalez will now head to Beantown to play for the Celtics. When you look
00:15at Hugo Gonzalez, the prospect, plays for Real Madrid, the basketball club, over there in his
00:21native country, just started representing the Spanish national team on the senior level,
00:27only 19 years old, turned 19 just back in February. What do you make of the pick by the Celtics
00:33to draft Hugo Gonzalez? His ability to get to the basket is unprecedented, and he plays
00:39hard defense. The question that you have in him is, can he develop his outside shot, one,
00:45and number two, his decision-making is a little, a lot to be designed. I also want to point out
00:50that he looks more like he plays for Real Madrid. I thought this was a soccer team. I was looking
00:54at them. I'm like, what? The Neymar is going on? Neymar played for Real Madrid, or no, or
00:59AC. Barcelona, my goodness.
01:05That's why I coach basketball and not soccer.
01:12But Hugo Gonzalez, listen, his ability to approve his three-point shot decision-making will be
01:20the test here. But with him going to Boston, this is obviously, could be a stash pick, maybe
01:24there for another year, Ben. But also, it could be someone that, if he comes there, he's going
01:28to sit the bench and learn. All right, mister, I know all the club teams from Spain, that being
01:33the flag. Kevin Wallace, what do you make of the pick for the Boston Celtics?
01:38I'm going to end up hosting pro soccer today, just because I know one of the most famous athletes
01:42in the world, which team he played on in between Barcelona and Madrid. My goodness.
01:49I think it's a really interesting pick and what he brings to the team. I don't think he
01:52plays in the NBA this year. I think he stays overseas.
01:55Really?
01:55Yeah. There's no path to him seeing consistent playing time between White, Simons, and Pritchard.
02:03I don't think there's enough guard playing time. And to see, what is he, 19, right?
02:07He's 19 and just about 19 and a half. There's no, there's no path to him playing.
02:13So I actually, one, am not fully convinced that you have a situation where Boston is
02:22done trading. I don't fully believe that, right? And I know, obviously, that would then,
02:29I would also just say, Hugo Gonzalez had a ton of hype as a prospect, but Real Madrid, the
02:37basketball club is a good one. And it's not always as easy to get minutes. If you're not
02:42Luka Doncic, that's why Yegor Demmon went to BYU in order to give himself that playing
02:48time. I actually think there's a fascinating conversation to be had about the route Hugo
02:53went and the route Demmon went. Again, it's not like, look at the Demmon numbers. They're
02:58not good, but he got to play and he flashed the passing. He gets drafted eighth. Hugo, who
03:05I think had more pedigree a year ago than Demmon can't crack the rotation as easily and ends
03:13up going 28. But this is the stuff that we talk about. You're Hugo Gonzalez. You end up
03:20with the Boston Celtics organization. That's a thumbs up to me, Ben.
