00:00We really thought, DRS, as the draft lottery played out in the middle of May,
00:04it was going to more than likely, look, flag one, Harper two, Bailey three.
00:10But Ace Bailey's had an interesting pre-draft process.
00:13He has not done well in interviews.
00:14He has canceled some workouts and pre-draft visits
00:18with teams selecting early on, including the 76ers at third overall.
00:24Here are the odds on Ace Bailey.
00:26And the confounding thing remains, DRS,
00:28he is a minus 200 favorite to be a top five pick
00:32and yet is not favored to go one, two, three, four, or five.
00:38The spot where he is favored with the shortest price is sixth overall at plus 130.
00:43It's where the Wizards are selecting right now.
00:47Ultimately, DRS, when is Ace Bailey going to hear his name called on this Wednesday in Brooklyn?
00:52I think he's still going to be a top five pick, but understand this.
00:54Here's what doesn't make sense about what Ace Bailey and his team are doing right now.
00:58Because you could say like, okay, I want to tank my draft stack.
01:00I want to get to a certain team.
01:01I understand that.
01:02Like, we don't want to go here.
01:03We don't want to go here.
01:04We want to be in Brooklyn.
01:05We want to be in Washington where maybe I can get a team where we're going to be bad,
01:09but I can really mature and I can shoot 15 times a game.
01:12Nobody's going to yell at me even 20 times a game and not be with a veteran presence.
01:15Who's going to say, hey, you're going to come off the bench.
01:17You're going to learn the hard way here.
01:18But understand this.
01:20What he told the Philadelphia 76ers, or at least his camp, it contradicts everything there.
01:23I don't want to go to Philadelphia, but now word comes down that he goes, all right, we'll
01:28work out for you, but guarantee me the number three pick that you're going to pick me.
01:31Well, wait a second.
01:32You don't want to be in Philadelphia, but if I work out, guarantee me that you'll pick
01:36me at three, even if I don't want to be there.
01:38But if you don't guarantee, I don't want to be in Philadelphia because it's not a good
01:42fit.
01:42But if you guarantee the number three pick and it's you, I'll go there.
01:45See what I mean?
01:45It doesn't make any sense even which way you try to explain at this point.
01:49So the fact that he's dropping is crazy, but also it's just like the whole thing is
01:52this kid probably if he again had good workouts and good interviews, we always know how the
01:58draft process works.
01:59The minute the ping pong balls come down, it's one, two, and three, and Harper is supposed
02:02to be the two.
02:03But we see in college football all the time.
02:04Hey, Stone Cold, surefire number one at the end of the football season.
02:07And he goes, hey, man, this guy's tearing it up.
02:09He has great chalk talk right now.
02:11He had a private workout that absolutely slayed.
02:13He might be moving up in the draft.
02:14We always get movers and shakers.
02:15We just never think it's going to be the mover and shaker going like, I'm a good player.
02:19Let me tank my stock to move down.
02:21Like what happens if Ace Bailey had great interviews, but again, a great workout.
02:23So it's like, hey, he's going number two overall to the, you know, San Antonio Spurs.
02:27And where does he benefit from that?
02:28In money.
02:30The higher you go, the more money you make over that rookie deal.
02:32And it's not like a, hey, it's $100,000 a year difference or 50 grand.
02:36It's millions.
02:37It could be tens of millions of dollars that he gives up by slotting lower here.
02:42And nobody knows how things work out.
02:43You could hurt your ankle bad.
02:45You could hurt your Achilles.
02:46You could have a knee issue here.
02:48You could not be the player that everybody thought you would be.
02:50But you know what?
02:51If you got drafted too, you got five years of a really good contract that you can turn
02:56in and retire off of.
02:57And I'm not saying that seven, eight or nine, you can't do that, but that's a lot of money
03:00to pass up and have that much gratitude to the NBA by going, I'll pick where I go and
03:04watch it turn out.
