Gujarat, June 25 (ANI): Started in 2003 by then CM Narendra Modi, Shala Praveshotsav is Gujarat’s flagship school enrollment drive aimed at bringing children—especially girls—into the education system. Held every June, the campaign sees top officials reaching remote villages to enroll students, provide school kits, books, and mid-day meals. Over the years, it has significantly reduced dropout rates, improved girl child enrollment, and revived faith in government schools. Complementing it is the Kanya Kelavani drive, which targets social barriers and early dropouts among girls. Evolving with time, the initiative now also emphasizes retention, digital learning, and inclusive education. This year’s campaign begins on June 26, continuing its legacy as a movement for educational equity and empowerment.
