00:00so Kevin Durant is now back in Texas as he goes to the Houston Rockets in what is a blockbuster

00:18move but only because he's involved uh trade with the Phoenix Suns as the Rockets trade Jalen Green

00:24Dylan Brooks and the 10th overall pick to the Suns in exchange for Kevin Durant on the Houston side

00:31that's what this part is going to be focused on on the Houston side this has been the guy they have

00:36been looking for the Rockets feel like they are close everyone in basketball feels like the

00:42Rockets are close so why not make that big splash they just didn't have that dude at the end of

00:48games that could get the ball and really feel like you could close things out now they have that guy

00:54and I understand this is not Kevin Durant with the Golden State Warriors it might not even be Kevin

00:59Durant with the Brooklyn Nets but all they need from him is Kevin Durant very good basketball scorer

01:08and this will be a home run for the Rockets it just it fits everything that they need and some

01:15of the criticisms about like you hear from Knicks fans like ah I don't want doesn't play defense

01:19anymore cool uh you got like a team that you can just like stand arm and arm and just cut off the

01:27whole court with the length that this team has now and how good they are defensively they just needed

01:32this they just needed the scoring to get them there and you look at like compare think about

01:37what we're talking about here and how similar this is to the Magic and everything with the Bane

01:43situation where it's okay well Bane not really that great defender but we got enough good defending um

01:48elite level defending on Orlando's part that we can kind of make up for that it's kind of the same

01:52in Houston but one is smaller and one much bigger because Houston's defense isn't as good as Orlando's

01:58I don't know if anyone's is and that is including the team that just hoisted a championship but it's

02:03still very very good now I would suggest that Kevin Durant uh greater than signed Desmond Bane

02:09at this point um even still with Kevin Durant being at a bit of an advanced age so I I think that

02:16this is such a a smart move and then when you compare what was given up in those and how it

02:21was justified for Orlando to give up everything for Desmond Bane with the well he just fits what

02:26they needed so you just have to do that okay this fit exactly what the Rockets needed and they with

02:32all due respect they didn't give up much to get the exact threat that you need let's look at what they

02:38gave up Jalen Green it just it wasn't working um it felt like a bad mix with the emergence of

02:44Thompson the continued progression of Shangoon um Fred Van Vliet being there to kind of distribute

02:49did the best that he could but it just it it wasn't really working and so you would watch the

02:55playoffs and you would go long stretches forgetting the dude was out there and so it was like okay

03:00that's that's not ideal for a former very high pick who felt like he could be a difference maker

03:05and also like kind of all the things we're talking about with the Rockets um he should have been that

03:11for them and he wasn't so there was an opportunity for him to kind of step up and be the guy and he

03:15wasn't and they are in a spot where you have you have a really good coach you have obviously seen

03:20the emergence of a couple very talented young players now feels like the time to make this move

03:25this guy feels like he can be the big trade ship that we have you do lose something in Dylan Brooks

03:29he's just a dog man but if you need to make this trade to bring in Kevin Durant you make that a hundred

03:37times out of a hundred and you just figure it out and then the 10th pick like this is a good draft

03:41coming up on Wednesday but it doesn't feel like that big of a deal that it should be the difference

03:46maker and making this trade or not um like that the Raptors have nine and I'm like oh we're right

03:51on the cusp of getting someone that really can contribute to this basketball team um the Rockets

03:57didn't need another young player to throw into this mix they have a good accumulation of talent and we saw

04:03with the Thunder sometimes that's all you need right you you get a couple make a couple moves

04:07on the edges to fit the exact stuff that you need and you go with that not everyone's the Thunder

04:11though and this is a great way to utilize what you have still in some talent that maybe the value

04:19has taken a step back on and now you can push forward with this team that this is a this is the

04:23exact dream when you are building a team like this is you accumulate a lot of young talent talent a bunch

04:30of it breaks through some of it doesn't but it keeps its value enough that you can still flip it

04:34on to something else um so some fantastic fantastic team building here from the Houston Rockets we'll

04:41talk a little bit more about that in a second but I do want to remind you that the next stream coming

05:28Jabari Smith and Cam Whitmore as interesting assets if they need to make the salaries work

05:34Fred Van Vliet is uh right there with the potential to uh do that sorry getting a phone call uh you have

05:42Fred Van Vliet who is there who I think they would like to hang on to him but if they need to make a

05:47big move for salary purposes then you have Fred Van Vliet and his 44 million dollars that you can put

05:54into a trade um and then I think the biggest piece that you have is the Suns 2027 pick which they just

06:04made more valuable by taking Kevin Durant away from the Phoenix Suns so they have they have young

06:10pieces that teams would want they have a big contract to help make the money work and you have

06:16an incredibly valuable first round pick in the future they they have some chips that they can

06:21play with man and it is it is going to be interesting to see how the Rockets manage this

06:26offseason in what is a stacked western con we'd be talking about them as the favorites in the east

06:30by but they'd be minus 800 favorites in the east if uh they were over there right now but um

06:37geography has them out in the west
