Rishikesh (Uttarakhand), June 26 ANI: State-of-the-art sewage treatment plants (STPs) have been set up in Rishikesh and Muni ki Reti area to clean the Ganga under the Namami Gange Mission. Two STPs of 26 MLD (Lakkadghat) and 7.5 MLD capacity are operational to treat an average of 20 MLD sewage generated daily in Rishikesh. The STP at Lakkadghat is based on modern SBR technology, which purifies dirty water in a phased process. The 5 MLD STP located at Chorpani area of Muni ki Reti is equipped with MBBR technology, which successfully treats 3.5 MLD sewage per day and releases it into the Chandrabhaga river. Both STPs have labs and real-time online monitoring systems, which continuously check water quality and provide data to central/state agencies. Namami Gange Mission is a meaningful and visionary initiative towards maintaining the purity and uninterrupted flow of Ganga.

00:00Craddled in the lap of nature along the sacred Ganga, the spiritual town of Rishikesh and the adjoining Muniki Reti area are witnessing transformative efforts under the Namami Ganga mission to purify and conserve the river.
00:17Seavage treatment plants established under the mission in these regions are treating around 25 million litres per day of sewage using advanced technologies, an essential step towards reducing pollution in the Ganga.
00:32Rishikesh alone generates an average of 20 MLD of sewage daily. To manage this, two STPs of 26 MLD and 7.5 MLD capacities have been constructed more than sufficient to handle the city's sewage load.
00:48The 26 MLD STP at Lakkar Ghat, completed in 2020, is the largest in the city. It treats approximately 190 million litres of waste water daily from six major drains.
01:00This facility uses cutting-edge sequential batch reactor technology which manages the treatment process in controlled phases.
01:08Through batch cycles, it efficiently removes solid, organic and chemical waste, transforming it into clean water.
01:16Even with variations in inflow, this system maintains consistently high treatment quality, helping preserve the purity and sanctity of the Ganga.
01:26This plant has been constructed in 2018. In 2020, we have completed the construction in 2020.
01:36In 2020, we have continued five years of operation maintenance.
01:39This has been created by SBR.
01:43SBR is a sequence batch reactor.
01:45The STP has a new technology.
01:47which is a very good technology.
01:49In this technology, we have made four tanks.

01:58Similarly, the 5 MLD STP at Chorpani in Muniki Reti, built over 9,600 square meters, plays a vital role in the Clean Ganga mission.
02:10Fully equipped to handle the area's daily sewage load of 3.5 MLD, this plant operates on moving bed biofilm reactor technology.
02:18It treats around 5 million liters of wastewater every day before discharging it into the Chandrabaga river, which eventually merges with the Ganga.
02:27This modern treatment system not only safeguards the environment, but also ensures a legacy of clean water and a pristine Ganga for future generations.
02:36The SDPs established under the Namami Ganga mission are equipped with modern infrastructure,
02:44It is a laboratory setup and it is a sensor-based system in our sensor-based system.
02:48So, we will know that the parameters of our honorable NGT and CPCB are in terms of the values of the NGT and CPCB,
02:55then our goal will be able to understand that our quality is right.
03:01The STPs established under the Namami Gangye mission are equipped with modern infrastructure.
03:06State-of-the-art laboratories regularly monitor the quality of both incoming sewage and treated water.
03:12This data is uploaded in real-time to an online monitoring system which is routinely reviewed by authorized central and state government agencies.
03:20The Namami Gangye mission is making steady and impactful progress in its commitment to restoring the purity and uninterrupted flow of the river Ganga.
03:29The day is not far when the sacred Ganga, a timeless symbol of faith, culture and nature, will once again flow in its pristine, life-giving form.
