A 50-year-old man has been fined RM5,500 by the Johor Baru Magistrate’s Court for driving a 4x4 pick-up recklessly and causing damage to another vehicle.

Muhammad Firdaus Abdullah was found guilty of driving negligently along Jalan Susur 6, Jalan Tun Razak on June 22.

00:00A 50-year-old man has been fined 5,500 ringgit by the Johor Bahru Magistrates Court on Wednesday
00:08for driving a 4x4 pickup recklessly and causing damage to another vehicle.
00:15Mohamed Firdaus Abdullah was found guilty of driving negligently along Jalan Susur 6, Jalan Tun Razak on June 22.
00:22According to the charge sheet, he drove without due care and full attention, thereby endangering other road users.
00:30In a video that has gone viral, he was seen repeatedly reversing his vehicle into another car before driving away from the scene.
00:38Mohamed Firdaus had pleaded guilty when the charge was read to him in court,
00:43but repeatedly interrupted the proceedings in an attempt to explain what caused the conflict.
00:49In mitigation, he appealed for a minimal penalty, as he is currently unemployed and caring for his wife and seven school-going children.
00:58Together with the fine, Magistrate Noor Fatin Mohamed Farid also ordered for Mohamed Firdaus' driving licence to be endorsed.
