00:00Well, here in the state of Florida, we expect it to be hot in the summer, but not typically this early.
00:06Usually that real field temperature that active weather puts out doesn't start to play out on a regular basis until the month of July and August.
00:13But so far this week, all of Central Florida has had a real field temperature in those triple digits, and no end is in sight.
00:21So folks have been doing what they can to try and avoid this oppressive heat as best as possible.
00:26Of course, the hottest time of the day here is in anywhere from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
00:32We talked to lots of people that were out and about, and we talked to moms specifically to get some ideas on what they do to try and stay cool during this heat wave.
00:42We like to go to like parks where there's like a lot of trees because just in case.
00:48Or like water, like the splash pads, because it's like a park and a splash pad.
00:54We wait till it's dark to go out walking.
00:56Or anything like that.
00:57Or go early because it's just really hot.
01:00We just got down here to Florida, so I don't recall running down here as much, but I've been running in the morning, and it's much easier than noon for sure.
01:09Now here in the Orlando area, they typically get about 100 days a year where that AccuWeather real field temperature is in those triple digits.
01:18But in the month of August, and even sometimes earlier, that real field temperature can be well over 105 for multiple days.
01:26So very dangerous conditions.
01:28You want to make sure that you're wearing the light-colored clothing if you're going to be out in this heat.
01:32Also limit that exposure.
01:34Make sure you're obviously hydrating.
01:36You know that.
01:36But the one key thing is to make sure you hydrate before you feel thirsty.
01:40If you're getting thirsty, then you're already dehydrated.
01:43Reporting from Altamont Springs, Florida, I'm Leslie Hudson for AccuWeather.
