00:00He never brought home anything except trash.

00:06He really feels the need to bring us stuff.

00:12And me being a documentary filmmaker,

00:14I ended up making a tiny little spy camera

00:17just to see what he's up to.

00:20He brings lots of little scraps of plastic,

00:24a full pot of flowers that had dried up.

00:27He's brought home hundreds of trash gifts now by this point.

00:38There were other cats in our apartment complex.

00:40The animal, Simone, was sort of the big one.

00:42It was a street cat before our neighbor took her in.

00:44We think he wanted to groom her as a way of connecting

00:47and she would never have it.

00:52One of his first interactions with her that we caught on camera

00:55was him trying to bring her a trash gift.

00:58He goes into the house, grabs this plastic bag,

01:01and he comes out and she's not there anymore

01:03and he's gnawing after her.

01:08It's kind of heartbreaking.

01:15There's sometimes where she'll let him hang out

01:17up to a certain distance.

01:18And then he always just pushes his luck.

01:25I think she's just an older, more mature woman

01:28who doesn't have time for this playful, naive guy's advances.

01:36The best part has been learning about him

01:39and being able to connect deeper with him in a unique way.
