00:00last night DRS a late night trade between the Boston Celtics and the Portland Trailblazers

00:05Drew Holiday an integral piece of that Celtics team that won an NBA championship banner number

00:1018 inside TD Garden just a year ago now on his way to Portland in return the Trailblazers send

00:18Anthony Simons in two second round selections back to Boston again we had kind of talked about

00:25this as we were waiting for NBA finals games to play out in the Eastern Conference finals between

00:31not the Celtics but the New York Knicks and the Indiana Pacers following that devastating injury

00:37to Jason Tatum the ruptured Achilles and the Celtics disappointing end of the year in the postseason

00:42that can only be considered a disappointment we understood Boston was going to make some changes

00:48this offseason it's the first domino to fall Drew Holiday now traded to Portland yeah and you might

00:54say to yourself like hey man that's a really good return back for Drew Holiday and technically it is

00:57because you need some scoring but also understand this they're scoring with a team that's not very

01:02good and then they're scoring with a team that you hope is going to make a deep playoff run in the

01:06Celtics even without Jason Tatum next year but understand this too like do you remember when like

01:10you know Marcus Smart left Boston oh the heart and soul well they sort of replaced it with Drew Holiday

01:14one of those great teammates here by the way just looking at his bio here three-time NBA teammate of the

01:19year which he won in 2020 2022 and 2023 and also three-time all defensive team first team three-time

01:26all defensive second team in the NBA so you're losing one of those guys that goes hey I'm okay

01:30without the spotlight here I'll get mine when I get mine I'll play great defense and be an absolutely

01:34superstar teammate here and you got to love that if you're Jason Tatum and Jalen Brown it's like look

01:39we're gonna fight for the basketball anyway we don't need another guy in here that thinks he can

01:42score 20 points he's the perfect teammate so maybe he goes back to Portland and sort of resets

01:47the process there because he was supposed to be in Portland and that three-way deal four-way deal

01:51whatever went down doesn't wind up in Portland yeah and obviously ended up there with the Boston

01:55Celtics which was a great move for the Celtics I actually like this deal for both franchises but
