In this heartfelt update, I share my health journey after a scary seizure at home. I’m getting blood tests to track my sodium, electrolytes, and troponin levels to assess any heart stress. My elevated troponin suggests my heart was slightly strained during the seizure—like a bruise, not the permanent damage of a heart attack. I open up about feeling lightheaded and faint, which is terrifying as a mom to my toddler, Spencer, especially when we’re alone. To manage my sodium levels, I’m drinking hydration drinks like Gatorade, and blood tests are now key to staying on top of my health.

00:00But the troponin levels because Luke's wanting to check the troponin levels
00:04that's apparently the sign of whether you've had a heart attack or not and my
00:07troponin levels really went up high but I think it's because my heart just
00:11got the equivalent of bruised because I was
00:14low on oxygen during the seizure so hopefully my heart muscle's just been a
00:19little bit bruised and not actually died which is what
00:22happens in a heart attack so now today we just have to check
00:27um how the salt levels are going and how the potassium levels are going to see
00:31hopefully if we're keeping them under control
00:35hyponatrium i think that's how you pronounce it i keep getting it wrong
00:39is a life-threatening condition actually so if your salt is too low
00:45which mine was mine was in the clinical range of being too low
00:49so i've been um drinking you know it's not an ad for any one particular
00:54hydrolite brand obviously but i've been sort of swapping and
00:58changing something having a gatorade um and then i've got a powdered formula
01:03as well with no added sugar that's got the potassium the sodium
01:07um the chloride but um i'm still lightheaded i'm still sort of struggling
01:12with quite a bit of lightheadedness and um also headaches and sort of faint
01:19feeling like like even this morning it was a weird feeling i wanted to sort of turn
01:23around and it almost felt like the floor was slipping under me like it was sort
01:27of a bit strange and i've got to be honest it's frightening me
01:31like i'm frightened to be at home alone with spencer at the moment because
01:35you know if i had another seizure and it was just me and spencer at home that's
01:38obviously a really bad situation
01:47oh relax or just keep it oh yeah yeah yeah you tell me what to do
01:52my veins false advertise a little bit though like they look really good
01:56but they slip away so um i've just had a blood test just then and now we're checking the sodium levels
02:02and also potassium levels and um checking liver function and also checking troponin levels
02:19so when um when they brought me into ed and i had a second seizure which is when they then took me
02:44into the resus area all the blood tests and and everything they sort of quickly did on me showed
02:51that my troponin levels had gone really sky high and troponin levels is unfortunately an indicator of
02:58a heart attack which is terrible news but thankfully in my situation it looks like
03:06the troponin levels went up because my heart muscles been bruised and that's probably because
03:10a lack of lack of lack of oxygen so as i was lying there on the floor at home because of course where
03:16by the time luke found me i i was already turning purple so my my breathing was um compromised and as
03:24soon as he turned me on as soon as luke turned me on to the side and cleared my airways then my breathing
03:30started to improve again but it it would appear that i was oxygen deprived for a little while so that's
03:38probably why the troponin levels have gone up and what it does is it sort of um luke described it
03:43really well actually he said that it's like my heart muscles had a really big punch and so part of
03:49the muscle is really bruised as opposed to an actual heart attack where part of the muscle actually dies
03:57so they've done a cardio echogram they've done an initial ct scan so they can't see any huge brain
04:02tumors or anything which is a really big relief so at this point they really are veering towards the fact
04:08that i really was it really was low salt and i didn't realize how important salt was for neural
04:14connections so if you think of neural connections talking to each other through the electrical signals
04:22salt is a is a really key component of that sort of um chemical reaction that's going on so to be low in
04:30that is a is a classic trigger for seizures so anyway today i've had this blood test so we're continuing
04:36along with this i guess um you could i was sort of hoping that a couple of days of just slugging big
04:42bottles of gatorade might just sort of you know fix everything i guess but it turns out that recovery
04:48is a little bit slower than i would have liked okay just hold up please thank you so much that's really
04:53cool look i genuinely didn't feel that blood tests are going to be our best friend just to see what those
04:58levels are doing and really watching my diet um really watching that i'm not drinking too much
05:05water called water intoxication so even if i feel thirsty it may not be it might just be a bit of a
05:11dry mouth and i'm also really looking at the color of my urine like i know that that doesn't sound all
05:17that great but in hospital they restricted me for for um 24 hours on 1.2 liters of water and
05:26anyone that knows me knows i can actually drink 1.2 liters of water in an hour so to have that over
05:3424 hours the urine i was the my urine output it was a color i'd never seen before as in it was dark
05:44so now whenever it's getting too pale and i'm feeling lightheaded i sort of watch i sort of think to
05:50myself oh perhaps i'm sort of lapsing into that drinking too much fluid so i'm diluting whatever salt
05:55is in my body and i'm also eating salted peanuts and um just just trying to have a bit more of a
06:02balanced diet so look i'm you know really passionate about this this is another medical topic that's come
06:08up that we can cover and yes hyponatremia i i really hope i'm pronouncing that right i'm very sorry if i'm
06:16not but basically in lactation or in breastfeeding is a thing that can happen to women so and it's happened
06:24to me so i will continue to keep you updated on on how this goes and hopefully i'll be able to get my
06:30body back in some sort of balance again
