00:00The High Court here has stated its earlier ex parte order to freeze assets in London worth £132 million
00:08or about RM758.2 million belonging to Naima Khalid and her family.
00:14Justice Azhar Abdul Hamid will hear the application by the widow of former Finance Minister Daim Zainuddin
00:20to intervene in that case on July 9th.
00:22The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission had applied to freeze the assets claiming they were potentially
00:27linked to offences under Section 4, Sub 1 of the Anti-Money Laundering, Anti-Terrorism Financing
00:33and Proceeds of Unlawful Activities Act 2001.
00:37The London assets include two commercial buildings worth £55.2 million,
00:42five luxury residences valued at £77.1 million and a bank account held under the Ilham Foundation.
00:48A separate court also fixed August 1st to hear Naima's application to intervene in MECC's ex-party bid
00:55to freeze over RM544 million worth of investment funds belonging to her, her family and associates in Singapore.
01:04Justice K. Muniandi set the date after hearing submissions from Deputy Public Prosecutor Mahadi Abdul Jumaat
01:09and Naima's counsel, Senior Lawyer Gurdjel Singh.
01:13Mahadi told the court that MECC sought to freeze 12 investment accounts believed to contain undeclared Malaysian funds,
01:19but Gurdjel argued the order should not be issued without first hearing from those affected.
01:24Naima, who is currently facing an asset declaration charge, is accused of failing to declare her ownership
01:30in various companies, several plots of land here and in Penang, and two vehicles.
