00:01The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission has opened eight new investigation papers into

00:05undeclared high-value assets linked to the late Daim Zainuddin, his family members, and

00:11a cousin of the former finance minister.

00:14MACC Chief Commissioner Azam Baki said the investigations were prompted by new information

00:19received from overseas, adding that the findings stem from investigations carried out in 2023.

00:24Azam also confirmed that although Daim died last November, MACC will move forward with

00:30recommending the forfeiture of the assets in question but added that it is up to the deputy

00:34public prosecutor to agree or not.

00:37In January last year, Daim claimed trial to a charge of failing to comply with the terms

00:42of an asset declaration notice issued by MACC.

00:46He was accused of failing to declare ownership of 38 companies, 19 land plots across five

00:51states, six properties, Amanah Saham Nasional Berhad and Amanah Saham Nasional accounts,

00:56and seven luxury vehicles.

00:59His wife, Naima Khalid, also faces an asset declaration charge.

01:03She is accused of failing to declare her ownership in various companies, several plots of land,

01:08and two vehicles.

01:10After Daim's death on November 13 last year, the prosecution withdrew the charges and the

01:14court granted an order discharging and acquitting him.
