Before he can graduate, cocky high school student Michael Corben (Richard Grieco) travels to France on a school trip to earn a missing French credit. But when a British intelligence agent mistakes Michael for a spy of the same name, they rush him to headquarters and assign him to capture the evil Augustus Steranko (Roger Rees), using a plethora of espionage gadgetry. Michael has the time of his life -- until he crosses paths with two assassins (Tom Rack, Carole Davis) who want him dead.

00:21:13The receivables aren't there.
00:21:15You've seen the numbers.
00:21:16So we have a cash flow problem.
00:21:18It isn't just a cash flow problem.
00:21:21Jean, one of your employees sent me this.
00:21:26A memo from John.
00:21:28Ordering all sales staff to take lie detector tests about missing money.
00:21:33Jean, you know where that money is going.
00:21:35There's no way I can arrange a new loan.
00:21:38Hey, Liz.
00:21:40Sorry, I'm late.
00:21:42What do I sign?
00:21:43You don't.
00:21:45What?
00:21:49Oh, come on, Liz.
00:21:51It's always slow until the students get back.
00:21:53You seen the projections?
00:21:54Yes, I have, and I think they're optimistic.
00:21:57I'm sorry, John, there's nothing I can do.
00:22:00I'm out on a limb as it is.
00:22:03So that's it?
00:22:11We'll close up shop and walk away with nothing?
00:22:15I'll tell you what I like to do.
00:22:17Sell the inventory, take the cash and get out of town.
00:22:21And they'd still be looking for us.
00:22:25Not if they thought we were dead.
00:22:26What?
00:22:30What are you talking about?
00:22:32What we've done before.
00:22:34Insurance.
00:22:37Life insurance.
00:22:38We can't do that.
00:22:40Yes, we can.
00:22:43Think about it.
00:22:45If you were to die, we can collect a million, your policy.
00:22:49No more Ohio, no more work.
00:22:51You could be laying in the sun.
00:22:54Get serious.
00:22:56I am serious, Gene.
00:22:59We can do this.
00:23:00How?
00:23:02I mean, I can't just disappear.
00:23:06And insurance companies don't pay up unless they are sure someone is dead.
00:23:12So we need a body.
00:23:14Someone who looks like you.
00:23:16So we just go out and dig one up?
00:23:19Richard Boggs could get us one.
00:23:25You are serious, aren't you?
00:23:30You really think we can get away with this?
00:23:35Nobody caught us before, did they?
00:23:39Who's going to catch us now?
00:23:49But the doctor always prescribes for his friends.
00:23:59It's a tradition.
00:24:01Well, beam me up, Scotty.
00:24:08So how's the sweat business?
00:24:09Booming?
00:24:10Night trust?
00:24:11Oh, not exactly.
00:24:12No?
00:24:15Why do I get the distinct feeling this is not purely a social call?
00:24:19It's always social, Richard.
00:24:22You know that.
00:24:23But we do have a business proposal, if you care to hear it.
00:24:26Sure, I'm always interested in new propositions.
00:24:31We have an insurance problem.
00:24:33In search of a medical solution.
00:24:37We'd like to know if you can get us a body.
00:24:40A body?
00:24:41For a fee, of course.
00:24:44Gene's planning a fatal heart attack in the next few months.
00:24:46I will be resting in peace in Miami.
00:24:50Ah, so the stiff will have to look just like him.
00:24:53It's interesting.
00:25:02It's difficult, but not impossible.
00:25:07John, look.
00:25:15If I comb my hair like this, do I look older and sicker?
00:25:21You always look sick.
00:25:23Be serious.
00:25:25Sick enough to die?
00:25:28Absolutely.
00:25:29But then, after you're dead, nip over here, tuck there, you'll be fine.
00:25:40Do you think Richard will really go through with this?
00:25:44He'll go through with it.
00:25:45Richard has some expensive habits.
00:25:48He needs money.
00:25:50And he'll do anything for me.
00:25:52John.
00:26:02So, 50,000.
00:26:0425 down, 25 on delivery.
00:26:07Deal.
00:26:07Now, Richard,
00:26:09Gene's policy expires in a month.
00:26:12What happens if you can't find a corpse in time?
00:26:17I don't know.
00:26:20Would you want me to look for a live one?
00:26:32Dan, I don't want to hear it.
00:26:33From now on, I am the only one who signs checks.
00:26:38That's final.
00:26:39That is absolutely final.
00:26:45John.
00:26:47I cannot operate this way.
00:26:49First, he has a one-day sale that goes for three weeks.
00:26:51Then, he won't reorder.
00:26:51Now, he wants to take away my checking privileges.
00:26:54I'm the accountant, for God's sakes.
00:26:57I know.
00:26:58Everyone, please listen.
00:26:59This is hard for me.
00:27:05I would have told you all sooner, but, um...
00:27:09Gene didn't want me to.
00:27:12Gene is sick.
00:27:14He has a heart condition.
00:27:16And, uh, his doctors have told him he's got only a few months to live.
00:27:19Oh, my God.
00:27:19Oh, jeez.
00:27:21I'm so sorry, John.
00:27:22I had no idea.
00:27:23No wonder he's acting strange.
00:27:24He'll be going to California for treatment.
00:27:27I don't know if he'll be back.
00:27:28Oh, my God.
00:27:29Well, I...
00:27:30Please don't say anything.
00:27:32He'll kill me if he knew I told you.
00:27:46What a performance.
00:27:48Oscar, Calip.
00:27:49You'll get a Lifetime Achievement Award once you're dead.
00:27:51So, is the staff heart broken at my departure?
00:27:57Well, there won't be.
00:27:58He wants to find out about your retirement plan.
00:28:04What?
00:28:05Kind of a musky thing?
00:28:06Mm-hmm.
00:28:06Mm-hmm.
00:28:10Sit down, relax, tickle the fish.
00:28:13I'll just be a minute.
00:28:30Hey, Peter?
00:28:32Yes?
00:28:33Who's this guy, Richard Boggs?
00:28:35He's, uh...
00:28:36He's my partner.
00:28:36Is he as nice as you?
00:28:39He's much nicer than I am.
00:28:45Keith?
00:28:46Mm-hmm.
00:28:48There's no need to wait out there.
00:28:49Come on in.
00:28:50So.
00:29:00So.
00:29:03Dinner was wonderful tonight.
00:29:05It was, wasn't it?
00:29:13It's for you.
00:29:14It's for you.
00:29:20Are you crazy?
00:29:36No, I'm sorry.
00:29:37I'm so sorry.
00:29:38I really am.
00:29:39Sometimes I...
00:29:39You damn near killed me.
00:29:41What the hell is that?
00:29:42It's just a thing.
00:29:43I take too many drugs, I get a little...
00:29:44Come here.
00:29:46Come back.
00:29:46Come back.
00:29:47You're bleeding.
00:29:47Let me stitch you out.
00:29:50That's good, huh?
00:29:55Yeah.
00:30:05Ben, what's up?
00:30:06I thought you'd better hear this in person.
00:30:10When Gene left yesterday, he wasn't traveling light.
00:30:13He took 1.8 billion in company funds.
00:30:17What are you talking about, John?
00:30:18I'm going to have to call the FBI.
00:30:20Damn, please, no.
00:30:22Gene's lost his marbles.
00:30:24If he winds up in jail, it'll kill him.
00:30:25You're getting a lot of trouble for this.
00:30:27I'll find him.
00:30:28I'll get the money back.
00:30:29I promise, just don't call the FBI.
00:30:32I'll take care of it.
00:30:33All right?
00:30:36I'll call you later.
00:30:45Out.
00:30:45Damn it, it's all falling apart.
00:31:02Fox blew it.
00:31:03He had a guy lined up, but he got away.
00:31:05Now, Elders is threatening to go to the FBI about the money we took.
00:31:08So what are we going to do now?
00:31:09You've got to stop him, and the insurance policy runs out on me in two weeks.
00:31:15We can't die yet, that's for damn sure.
00:31:17I have no choice.
00:31:19I'll have to take the money back.
00:31:20What?
00:31:21All of it?
00:31:22Not all of it.
00:31:23I'll say I used a quarter of a million to buy you out.
00:31:25A quarter of a million?
00:31:26Yes.
00:31:26You can squeak by on that for now, can't you?
00:31:29Or do you want the FBI crawling all over us?
00:31:32Now, where's the money?
00:31:36It's in a safe deposit box under my new name.
00:31:41Wolfgang Eugene von Snowden.
00:31:44Are you kidding me?
00:31:47Snowden was my father's name.
00:31:49I never knew him, but it does have a nice ring to it, don't you think?
00:31:54John?
00:32:00Yes?
00:32:00I did not do it, and I did not do it!
00:32:04I don't care what you are paying me.
00:32:07Richard!
00:32:08I tried this alone, and it did not work.
00:32:11Have the cops been there?
00:32:13No.
00:32:14Well, then you have nothing to worry about.
00:32:16Maybe this wasn't such a good idea.
00:32:18You'll just have to line up another body.
00:32:21West Hollywood is full of fading gays.
00:32:22You could pass for Gene.
00:32:23No, John.
00:32:24No, no.
00:32:25I cannot do it.
00:32:26I'm not going to do it.
00:32:27I am not going to do it unless you come out here and you help me.
00:32:30You come out here and you help me!
00:32:32Now shut up for a second, will you?
00:32:35I'll figure something out.
00:32:37How dare you tell me to shut up?
00:32:38You get your ass out of here!
00:32:40Come on!
00:32:45Gene, you just have to get going.
00:32:46Richard's looking for another body.
00:32:49But he needs you out there to help.
00:33:01You know what I said when I first saw you, Peter?
00:33:04No, what did you say, Ellis?
00:33:08I said to myself, here's a man who will know a good idea when he hears it.
00:33:16So, are you going to tell me a little more about this cheese cake recipe?
00:33:21No.
00:33:22No, no, no, no, no.
00:33:24I can't.
00:33:24I can't.
00:33:25It's an old family secret.
00:33:27Only two people in the world know their recipe.
00:33:29All right, my mother and me.
00:33:33Alec, two more.
00:33:36So, if you're going to share this little secret, I'm going to have to invest.
00:33:44Is that it?
00:33:48Absolutely.
00:33:49Absolutely.
00:33:49Well, I think it might be a good idea for us to start a company to market the rest of you.
00:33:55Gene!
00:33:56Gene, this is a friend of mine, Ellis Green.
00:33:59Gene knows a lot about companies.
00:34:01Gene Hanson, and it is a pleasure.
00:34:06Are you between a couple?
00:34:09No.
00:34:09No.
00:34:09You always travel with the doctor?
00:34:20Isn't that carrying safe sex a bit for?
00:34:23I'm going to check you out, Ellis.
00:34:25Oh, really?
00:34:26Yeah, if I'm going to invest in you, I want to give you an EKG.
00:34:32These are real heartbreakers, aren't they?
00:34:33Is this going to hurt?
00:34:40EKGs are painless.
00:34:42Take a strap and out.
00:34:56I'm going to get a pill for this.
00:34:57Lie down and relax.
00:35:01Relax.
00:35:02Breathe deeply.
00:35:02Ah, okay.
00:35:06Just relax.
00:35:09Relax, relax, relax, relax.
00:35:12Deep breaths.
00:35:16That's it.
00:35:18Deep breaths.
00:35:21You can even fall asleep if you like.
00:35:25Ah.
00:35:30Ah.
00:35:30That's it.
00:35:35That's a boy.
00:35:39That's a good boy.
00:35:42Good boy.
00:35:44Good boy.
00:35:44Oh, my God.
00:36:14Cash, I'm delivered.
00:36:37You know, listen to me.
00:36:38Dan, we're all mad about what Gene did.
00:36:41But I got the money back.
00:36:42I'm just trying to dig out.
00:36:46How?
00:36:48John, our suppliers aren't going to do us any favors.
00:36:50Just what?
00:36:51Ask again.
00:36:52John, it's for you.
00:36:54Hello?
00:36:58John, what's the matter?
00:37:01Gene's dead.
00:37:05Is this his full name, doctor?
00:37:07Melvin Eugene Hanson?
00:37:09That's right.
00:37:10How long was he a patient?
00:37:11Well, maybe seven or eight years.
00:37:14He owned a clothing store in Ohio, but he still came here for business.
00:37:19Not yet, guys.
00:37:20We'll be a few minutes.
00:37:21May I look at the file?
00:37:22Yes, of course.
00:37:24You say he complained of chest pains.
00:37:26That's right.
00:37:27Why didn't he go to a hospital?
00:37:28I suggested it.
00:37:29I suggested it, but he kept on insisting that he hated hospitals.
00:37:34He had been drinking quite a bit, and he did have a history of heart disease, so I agreed to meet him here.
00:37:43So what happened?
00:37:45What do you mean, what happened?
00:37:46Oh, I gave him an EKG, and I went into my office to pull his chart, and while I was in there, I heard a thud.
00:37:58I came back in here, and I saw him on the floor.
00:38:01What time was this?
00:38:03About 6, 6.15.
00:38:07I called 911.
00:38:09The line was busy.
00:38:10I administered CPR for about 40 minutes.
00:38:14Called 911 again, and finally got through.
00:38:17If you will excuse me, I will go into my office and see if there's anything else I can find for you.
00:38:28The emergency line was busy at 6 a.m.
00:38:32Kind of stiff for a guy who's only been dead an hour.
00:38:35Yeah.
00:38:39Last reading here says 12.04 a.m.
00:38:43Let's get a lab technician down here.
00:38:46Get some photos and prints.
00:38:48Captain, the last reading on that EKG machine was 12 midnight.
00:38:51Boggs didn't call this in until 6 a.m.
00:38:53The supervisor from emergency services remembers only one time when all the lines were busy.
00:38:58Yeah, the day of the Whittier quake.
00:39:00So what was the good doctor doing for six hours?
00:39:03Helen, I think we should ask the coroner to do a sexual assault examination.
00:39:07Take a look at this.
00:39:08It's an assault complaint.
00:39:10Filed two weeks ago against Boggs.
00:39:12By a guy who claims the doctor used a stun gun on him.
00:39:15I know about it.
00:39:16I sent in the paperwork.
00:39:16But I just had a call.
00:39:18The DA's not interested in pursuing any of this.
00:39:21Well, why the hell not?
00:39:22Because the guy's gay.
00:39:23So's the doc.
00:39:24Probably so is your corpse.
00:39:26So they're just going to write it off?
00:39:28Rough sex.
00:39:29It got out of hand.
00:39:30Or so they think.
00:39:31Now listen.
00:39:32Boggs may be loose with the scripts and he may hang out in West Hollywood.
00:39:35But in Glendale, he is a very respected member of the community.
00:39:39His brother was a cop for Pete's sake.
00:39:42So that's what this is about.
00:39:46Come on, Frank.
00:39:48You and I both know we've got something here.
00:39:49The coroner isn't interested.
00:39:51The DA isn't interested.
00:39:52Well, at least let me make a couple of calls.
00:39:53No.
00:39:55We move on.
00:39:55Now come on, Connie.
00:40:01What are you telling me?
00:40:01You did a thorough autopsy on this guy and found nothing?
00:40:04What I'm telling you is there's no evidence of sexual assault.
00:40:07No burn marks.
00:40:08No needle marks.
00:40:10No traces of poison.
00:40:11Nothing that could be consistent in any way with traumatic death.
00:40:15No sign of a struggle at all?
00:40:17None.
00:40:17And you checked under his fingernails.
00:40:21You know me.
00:40:22I give the complete manicure.
00:40:26Well, what did you find?
00:40:28In terms of disease?
00:40:30Non-specific focal myocarditis.
00:40:33What the hell is that?
00:40:34Infection of the heart muscle.
00:40:36He was also HIV positive.
00:40:41Non-specific focal...
00:40:43Myocarditis.
00:40:44Yeah.
00:40:45Is that usually fatal?
00:40:47This guy's intake?
00:40:48Definitely.
00:40:50On a part with some cops, I know.
00:40:52Listen, if you don't have anything, I'm gonna have to release this body.
00:40:55There's some guy here to pick it up.
00:41:03Detective Pete Stanford.
00:41:04You are...
00:41:05John Hawkins.
00:41:06I'm here to claim the body.
00:41:08Could I see some identification, Mr. Hawkins?
00:41:10Oh, sure.
00:41:12There you go.
00:41:13I also brought a copy of his will.
00:41:16You're the executor.
00:41:24Yes.
00:41:25So you remember the family?
00:41:27No, Gene was my business partner.
00:41:29And my friend.
00:41:30I'm sorry for your loss.
00:41:33Let me ask you a question.
00:41:34Did you know his doctor, Richard Boggs?
00:41:38Yeah.
00:41:39I saw him once or twice as a patient.
00:41:41Gene and I both used to live out here.
00:41:44And Gene and Dr. Boggs were friends?
00:41:46Yeah.
00:41:47Sort of.
00:41:48Boggs is gay.
00:41:49Was he your friend?
00:41:50Yes.
00:41:51Yes, he was.
00:41:54Was there any, uh, anything between the two of them?
00:41:58You mean, was something going on?
00:41:59Yeah.
00:42:00No way, man.
00:42:02Gene was into younger guys.
00:42:04Like yourself?
00:42:05Nah.
00:42:05I'm not gay.
00:42:09The coroner will fill out the papers.
00:42:11He's all yours.
00:42:12Thanks.
00:42:34Thanks.
00:42:35Thanks.
00:42:35Thanks.
00:43:36I got to get to the bank.
00:43:38You book a little.
00:43:39We're going to have some fun tonight.
00:43:41You understand?
00:43:41Yeah.
00:43:42Okay.
00:43:50David, champagne.
00:43:51Thanks.
00:43:52Who's that?
00:44:03I don't know.
00:44:03It looks like I'm on.
00:44:13Haven't you got enough women?
00:44:15It's never enough.
00:44:16How come?
00:44:20No, I mean, seriously.
00:44:21It's a challenge.
00:44:23A click.
00:44:25It makes me feel alive.
00:44:27I like making women happy.
00:44:30Where would I be without them?
00:44:31And where would you be without my cast-offs?
00:44:35Here.
00:44:40Do I know you from somewhere?
00:44:43I know you.
00:44:44I know all about you.
00:44:48I know.
00:44:49You don't remember, do you?
00:44:52Two summers ago.
00:44:55My birthday.
00:44:56You were the best present I ever had.
00:45:04Jenny.
00:45:06Jenny Swift.
00:45:07I...
00:45:08I don't believe this.
00:45:10What are you doing in Columbus?
00:45:12I just moved here.
00:45:14You know, I'm celebrating.
00:45:16Can I buy you a drink?
00:45:18Sure.
00:45:19Bill.
00:45:20Can we get a bottle of Dom Perignon now?
00:45:23To go?
00:45:25Sure.
00:45:28Captain, you got a second?
00:45:30Yeah, what is it?
00:45:32I got something I want to show you.
00:45:35Dennis, can you excuse me?
00:45:36Sure.
00:45:37All right.
00:45:39Now, these are the EKG readouts
00:45:40that Richard Boggs did on Eugene Hansen
00:45:42in 85, 86, and 88.
00:45:46I thought I told you to let this go.
00:45:47Just watch.
00:45:5085 here.
00:45:5186 here.
00:45:56Damn it.
00:45:57Boggs faked the records.
00:45:59He ran all these the night of the murder
00:46:01and then just juggled them around.
00:46:03Now, we've already got a couple of reporters
00:46:05nosing into this.
00:46:06We're going to get a lot of heat
00:46:07if we don't move on it right away.
00:46:09There's not enough here to indict.
00:46:11You don't have motive.
00:46:12You don't have fingerprints.
00:46:13Well, you don't even have the damn corpse anymore.
00:46:15Well, let me sniff around a little bit.
00:46:16Put some pressure on Boggs.
00:46:18What you sniff is a high-profile case.
00:46:21All right, Stanford.
00:46:21Knock yourself up.
00:46:23Captain, what about resources?
00:46:25What?
00:46:26Well, I need a telephone card
00:46:28and unlimited overtime,
00:46:29travel expenses,
00:46:30somebody do the grunt work.
00:46:32Dream on, Stanford.
00:46:33I can't even give you an office.
00:46:35Well, just work out of Isabel Sweets.
00:46:37You guys are just jealous?
00:47:00You look at a place like your office.
00:47:04Jealous.
00:47:04Hey, how you doing?
00:47:16I love what your decorators don't want to place.
00:47:18All me, pal.
00:47:19All me.
00:47:21Response from your DMV request?
00:47:24Oh, yeah.
00:47:26Take a look at these prints.
00:47:27It's not the guy in the morgue.
00:47:43Oh, my God.
00:47:46I could start by doing a meloplasty on the cheeks.
00:47:49And then I could do a blepharoplasty
00:47:53to remove the wrinkles around the eyes.
00:47:55And how will I look?
00:47:57A lot younger, certainly.
00:48:00Can you make me look like this?
00:48:02Well, maybe not exactly.
00:48:05This man's a lot younger.
00:48:07But I can probably take
00:48:11ten years off your face.
00:48:14Really?
00:48:15Ten years?
00:48:16Uh-huh.
00:48:18Look, I don't mind if you change the way I look completely.
00:48:24Really, I don't.
00:48:26Just don't leave any scars.
00:48:28I never cared for scars.
00:48:31Weren't they a badge of honor in your country at one time?
00:48:35What?
00:48:37Dueling scars in Germany.
00:48:41Mr. Von Snowden, right?
00:48:44Oh.
00:48:46Ah, yes, of course.
00:48:48Silly me.
00:48:54You have a very bad ear infection, Irving.
00:48:57Dr. Boggs?
00:48:58Yes.
00:48:59Glendale PD.
00:49:00I have a search warrant for you.
00:49:03You might want to reschedule your patients.
00:49:05We're going to be here a while.
00:49:06Oh, that's fine.
00:49:07What's going on?
00:49:08Okay, search for the place.
00:49:09I'm calling my attorney.
00:49:11Sorry.
00:49:12Oh, Dr. Boggs, this comes under the warrant.
00:49:23Well, a stun gun.
00:49:27Now, certainly beats the anesthesia, huh, Doc?
00:49:33Hey, Christy, check this out.
00:49:36Wow.
00:49:38Wow.
00:49:38Pretty cool, huh?
00:49:39Yeah, that's great.
00:49:41Oh, have you seen Dan Alderson?
00:49:43Uh-uh.
00:49:44A detective Stanford from the Glendale Police called.
00:49:46He said it was urgent.
00:49:47Did he ask for me?
00:49:48Uh-uh.
00:49:49Cool.
00:49:49Mm-hmm.
00:49:50Oh, have you.
00:49:51Got one in.
00:49:52All right.
00:50:01Stanford.
00:50:01Stanford.
00:50:14Detective Stanford.
00:50:16This is Dan Alderson from Just Sweats.
00:50:18Let's get your message.
00:50:21Yeah, Mr. Alderson, thanks for calling back.
00:50:23I have kind of a strange question I'd like to ask you.
00:50:26Have you seen Gene Hansen?
00:50:28Since April, I mean.
00:50:31What are you talking about? He's dead.
00:50:33Well, we don't think he is.
00:50:36This isn't funny. Are you serious?
00:50:38Yes, I'm serious, Mr. Alderson.
00:50:41How about his partner, John Hawkins? Is he still with the company?
00:50:44He's on vacation in Mexico, I think. Why?
00:50:48Would you ask him to call me when he gets back?
00:50:50I may want to come to Columbus and talk to the two of you.
00:50:54You bet.
00:50:55Thanks a lot.
00:51:01John Hawkins, you're not going to believe this. I had the surgery.
00:51:24A little bit more work, I'm going to look just like you.
00:51:26Gene, shut up. Listen. Cops know about the body.
00:51:30What?
00:51:31I don't know, but they know.
00:51:35Did you talk to Richard?
00:51:37Forget Richard. He's toast. His phone's probably tapped.
00:51:41What are we going to do?
00:51:43You do whatever you have to.
00:51:45I'm going to take the money and run.
00:51:46I don't believe this. They're really on to us.
00:51:50Yeah, they're really on to us.
00:51:53But they still gotta catch us.
00:52:08I...
00:52:09Here we go.
00:52:31Yeah, I need a couple of birth certificates.
00:52:34Colin Chandler.
00:52:36Born July 23rd, 1961.
00:52:39Why won't he take a cashier's check, John?
00:52:43Because the bank will be closed by the time I get the date.
00:52:46Now, the guy's got me by the short hairs, Liz.
00:52:48Now, I need those sweats in the stores this weekend.
00:52:53Aren't you going to count it?
00:52:56I trust you.
00:53:06John!
00:53:06What's up?
00:53:11Hey, that's my stuff.
00:53:13I'm borrowing these, you mind?
00:53:15Sure.
00:53:19What are you doing, John?
00:53:20I'm taking a little vacation.
00:53:25I'm going to hell of an expensive one.
00:53:28Hey, cut the bull, John.
00:53:30What the hell's going on here?
00:53:32Josh, you're a nice guy.
00:53:34But keep your day, John.
00:53:35What the hell is that supposed to be?
00:53:36We can keep everything here, except the Mercedes.
00:53:42Promise that to my mother.
00:53:44Josh, have a nice life.
00:53:47I plan.
00:53:57Even when I'm out.
00:53:57I'm going.
00:54:00And I'm going.
00:54:04guitar solo
00:54:34Are you here for the Grisco party?
00:54:41Yeah, of course. Thanks.
00:54:47Top Gun was the first feature we invested in.
00:54:50But I raised all the money for this one myself.
00:54:53It would be great if you let us shoot part of the movie here.
00:54:56Well, I don't know if Walter would.
00:54:59You know, there's a small part we haven't cast yet.
00:55:02Have you ever acted before?
00:55:05Not since college.
00:55:07I mean, it's tiny, but you get to work with Redford.
00:55:12You're not serious, right?
00:55:14I'm very serious.
00:55:19Walter.
00:55:21Excuse me.
00:55:22I want you to meet Josh Grist.
00:55:24Hi, Josh. Welcome.
00:55:25Nice to meet you.
00:55:25Nice to meet you.
00:55:26I was just talking to your lovely wife about your beautiful home.
00:55:29I can't.
00:55:30I can't.
00:55:31Trust me, she's perfect.
00:55:33And the house is just what we're looking for.
00:55:35You're not going to believe who just called her back.
00:55:37So exercise the option.
00:55:39Oh, come on.
00:55:40That's nothing.
00:55:42How much do you need right away?
00:55:43I'll get on to the usual suspects, all right?
00:55:47But I'll bet I can get you ten grand.
00:55:54Right this minute.
00:55:57Now get those rice nailed down before the close of business, okay?
00:56:00It's all set.
00:56:03My partner wants to see the house, and he wants to meet you.
00:56:06This is fantastic.
00:56:07Josh, this is wonderful.
00:56:08I can't believe this is happening.
00:56:10You are coming sailing with us, right?
00:56:12Sure, as long as I can be back in town by Friday.
00:56:15This is just great.
00:56:16Who do I make the checkout to?
00:56:18Better make it to my partner.
00:56:19Sure.
00:56:20What's his name?
00:56:21Hawkins.
00:56:22John Hawkins.
00:56:23I'll be right back.
00:56:26You guys are great, Diane.
00:56:30Step out of the car.
00:56:41What is this?
00:56:43Hands behind your head.
00:56:44It's a lace your fingers.
00:56:45Lean against the car.
00:56:47What's going on, guys?
00:56:50What did I do, please?
00:56:51Quiet, sir.
00:56:53The license says Walter Driscoll.
00:56:54I am Walter Driscoll.
00:56:56The computer says Walter Driscoll is an alias for John Hawkins.
00:56:59Son of a bitch.
00:57:02He did my credit cards.
00:57:03He did my bank account.
00:57:04He did my wife.
00:57:06He did me.
00:57:11He sends me postcards.
00:57:14New York, Nevada, New Mexico, Bahamas.
00:57:18You want to see his little black book?
00:57:20It's full of Hollywood names.
00:57:21You know, you're as big a hustler as he is.
00:57:27I gotta be.
00:57:28The detective threatened to lie under your car if we don't take this honor.
00:57:32Let me level with you, Mr. Walsh.
00:57:34I've got a department that's overextended.
00:57:36I've got superiors that are uninterested.
00:57:39I don't have any place else to turn.
00:57:40I can't catch this guy by slapping his face on post office walls or on the sides of milk cartons.
00:57:45I need your audience.
00:57:46I need you.
00:57:47You're my last resort.
00:57:48Hey, beautiful.
00:58:00How are we doing today?
00:58:05How about a cold one?
00:58:07In your dreams.
00:58:08Hey, fellas.
00:58:10I can handle it.
00:58:11You know, if you want to get rid of those jerks, act like I'm your boyfriend.
00:58:18Move into the groove-in?
00:58:21Sorry, boys.
00:58:24Come on.
00:58:26Would you like some?
00:58:28Oh.
00:58:29Well, is this part of the service?
00:58:32Absolutely.
00:58:32Absolutely.
00:58:32How about we start over here?
00:58:39How's that feel?
00:58:41Very nice.
00:58:42Yeah?
00:58:46Stop.
00:58:48That's you, baby.
00:58:49Queen of hearts.
00:58:51Oh, my God.
00:58:52He does car tricks, too.
00:58:54Take care.
00:58:55Take care.
00:59:02Oh.
00:59:04Yes.
00:59:04Oh.
00:59:06Oh.
01:01:07Lance, this is the second call we've gotten from Fort Lauderdale.
01:01:11Guy says he just saw Hawkins going into the Palm Hotel.
01:01:13Stanford's in Miami, right?
01:01:15Yeah.
01:01:15Get on him.
01:01:15Janice, get me Peter Stanford in Miami.
01:01:21Police officers are following moves.
01:01:23Everybody stay quiet.
01:01:24Everybody stay healthy.
01:01:25What is going on here?
01:01:26Come on.
01:01:27What the hell is going on here?
01:01:29Look at that kid's back.
01:01:31Sit her down.
01:01:32Get over here, man.
01:01:33Let's go.
01:01:33Somebody talk to me or get the hell out.
01:01:37Where is he?
01:01:38Who?
01:01:38What are you talking about?
01:01:39Him.
01:01:41Jerry.
01:01:42His real name is John Hawkins.
01:01:43He's wanted for first degree murder.
01:01:44Now, where is he?
01:01:46I don't know.
01:01:47But you know him.
01:01:49Know him?
01:01:50Honey, I just spent the best three nights of my life with him.
01:01:52He's going to be the best three nights of my life with him.
01:02:22He's going to be the best three nights of my life with him.
01:02:26Yeah, yeah, sure.
01:02:28You know what?
01:02:28I'm going to be the best three nights of my life with him.
01:02:31Let's go.
01:02:35What?
01:02:36Is someone after you?
01:02:37You're all after me.
01:02:41Happy anniversary?
01:02:43Hey, John.
01:02:44Yeah, it's been a year since you've been chasing the bastard.
01:02:48How about you run another profile on him?
01:02:50You know, I think he's getting off taunting you too.
01:02:53You got anything new?
01:02:55Not really.
01:02:57Boggs is in jail, but he's giving us nothing.
01:02:59I don't know where in the hell Hanson is.
01:03:03This was taken to St. Bart's.
01:03:05And this woman saw the show and called in.
01:03:09We missed him by half a day.
01:03:11I don't get it.
01:03:12Why isn't he running scared?
01:03:14Staying still, he's scared of.
01:03:16He loves the game.
01:03:18Getting a lot of pressure from back home.
01:03:20If I don't come up with something soon, I'm going to get cut off.
01:03:23Hey, you're not giving up on me.
01:03:26Yeah, right.
01:03:27Good job.
01:03:55Hello?
01:03:56Hi, it's John.
01:03:59John?
01:04:00Where the hell have you been?
01:04:02Malibu's been asking for you.
01:04:06John?
01:04:07Hello?
01:04:20So, uh, you're the Black Buddha.
01:04:21Well, pal, your name's listed in this book, under BB.
01:04:32This is John Hawkins' book.
01:04:35He wanted to murder.
01:04:35I haven't seen you.
01:04:40When was the last time you heard from him?
01:04:45Listen, Buddha.
01:04:46You can talk to me about John Hawkins, or I can put a serious cramp in your career.
01:04:51I don't care how many heavy hitters you service.
01:04:52He called about three days ago.
01:04:58From where?
01:05:01Somewhere.
01:05:03Here in town.
01:05:05He was here?
01:05:06Doin' what?
01:05:10Trickin'.
01:05:11With who?
01:05:14Guys use handles in this business.
01:05:19No names.
01:05:24They use real numbers, don't they?
01:05:28Why don't I call a few?
01:05:29This guy out in Malibu, he only wants a job.
01:05:37Calls him his Palomino.
01:05:41His what?
01:05:42He calls him his Palomino.
01:05:52Calls him his Palomino on account of a spot.
01:05:57A spot?
01:05:59What spot?
01:06:00He got a white spot.
01:06:04Down there.
01:06:14I'll be in touch.
01:06:16Let me go.
01:06:16Last time we aired this story, your calls put us just a few minutes behind our fugitive.
01:06:26His name is John Barrett Hawkins.
01:06:28If you've seen him, call this number.
01:06:301-800-CRIME-90.
01:06:34John Hawkins understood the odds.
01:06:37His mother was a Las Vegas car dealer.
01:06:39His father was never around.
01:06:41Fresh out of high school in 1980,
01:06:43Hawkins loaded up his mother's old Econoline van
01:06:46and headed for Hollywood
01:06:47to take a gamble on becoming a star.
01:06:51Hawkins loved a jet-set lifestyle.
01:06:54The high living ate up the profits.
01:06:56So when the business started to fail,
01:06:58police say the owners hatched a scheme to fake Hanson's death.
01:07:02Cash in on his life insurance policy worth more than $1 million.
01:07:07By the time the insurance company got the news,
01:07:10John Hawkins had already cashed in his chips.
01:07:12He said a gambler's goodbye.
01:07:20Hello?
01:07:21Hey, Jen.
01:07:23It's me.
01:07:25John?
01:07:26Where the hell have you been?
01:07:27Are you okay?
01:07:28Yeah, sure.
01:07:28I'm in L.A.
01:07:29Why don't you come visit me?
01:07:31What?
01:07:32After you ran out on me?
01:07:33Yeah, we'll go to the beach.
01:07:34Have some fun, you know?
01:07:35No, I don't think so.
01:07:37I just got back from a trip.
01:07:39John, people are saying you're in trouble, are you?
01:07:43I can't really talk over the phone.
01:07:45Well, why not?
01:07:46I can't.
01:07:46Not over the phone.
01:07:48John, you're scaring me.
01:07:50Just come visit me.
01:07:53Come out here.
01:07:55Hey, Jen.
01:07:56Looks like I'm finally...
01:07:57I was your best present, remember?
01:07:59I'll think about it.
01:08:00Police say John Hawkins was a sex machine who could hustle men for $5,000.
01:08:07Hey.
01:08:08What's this?
01:08:10Leads.
01:08:11300 call-ins for America's most wanted.
01:08:14And a couple of take-out menus.
01:08:17You're gonna need them.
01:08:17I'm so sorry, Jenny.
01:08:24I'm so sorry.
01:08:26I did something stupid.
01:08:27I laundered some drug money for some people through the company.
01:08:30Now the feds want me to testify.
01:08:32Thank God.
01:08:33I can't do it, Jenny.
01:08:35They'll kill me.
01:08:36I mean, they're already threatening my parents.
01:08:39John, look out!
01:08:40Jenny, do as I say.
01:08:49Remember, my name is Jerry.
01:08:54Hey, man.
01:08:55Look at this.
01:08:55Sorry, man.
01:08:55I didn't see you.
01:08:58Give me that truck.
01:09:00Would you like me to call the cops?
01:09:01I know a guy down the street.
01:09:02We could use his phone.
01:09:04Yeah.
01:09:04We'll be right back, okay?
01:09:06Yeah.
01:09:09What are you doing?
01:09:10No cops for God's sake, okay?
01:09:12What about the car?
01:09:13Forget about the car.
01:09:14We'll get another one.
01:09:16Let's go.
01:09:17Yeah.
01:09:28Never was much of a Boy Scout.
01:09:33You can't get into it, huh?
01:09:37I'm freezing.
01:09:39Get some dry wood.
01:09:40Get some dry hay.
01:09:46I'm freezing.
01:09:54Get some dry wood.
01:09:54How many of these do you have, Jerry?
01:10:22Maybe we should go back to Atlanta.
01:10:24Jenny, I just want to thank you.
01:10:46I'm glad you're here.
01:10:47Yeah.
01:10:48Mama, I'm okay.
01:10:49I'm fine.
01:10:53Yeah.
01:10:54Mama, I'm okay.
01:10:55I'm fine.
01:10:56What?
01:10:57He's what?
01:10:58This was on TV?
01:10:59You son of a bitch!
01:11:00What the hell are you doing?
01:11:01You liar!
01:11:02You bastard!
01:11:03What did I do?
01:11:04What did I do?

01:14:19Hello, Gene.
01:14:34Do you know who I am?
01:14:36Yes.
01:14:43Let's talk about John Hawkins.
01:14:45What have you got for me?
01:14:47What have I got?
01:14:50I'll tell you about John.
01:14:55When John walked into a room,
01:15:01there was magic.
01:15:05The place simply lit up.
01:15:11Man is amazing.
01:15:12Gene, Boggs has been indicted for murder.
01:15:22And we've got you cold.
01:15:23We're facing the death penalty.
01:15:29Now, we know that Hawkins had you and Boggs do his dirty work for him.
01:15:35Do you know what he's going to say when we nail him?
01:15:37He's going to say it was Gene's idea.
01:15:43I wasn't even there.
01:15:44I have nothing to say about John.
01:15:55He's my friend.
01:15:56We've aired the story of John Hawkins several times these past two years.
01:16:13But tonight, we've got some new information.
01:16:16Last September, Hawkins applied for a passport using the name Bradley Bryant.
01:16:20His hair is slicked back, and he may be using colored contact lenses to alter his eye color.
01:16:26Gene Hansen, his partner in crime, has been arrested in Texas and is being extradited to face charges in California.
01:16:33Miss Weber, my name is Peter Stanford.
01:16:35I'm a detective.
01:16:37And I'm calling because your business card was found in the apartment of a man named John Hawkins.
01:16:42Do you know John Hawkins?
01:16:44Vaguely. Why?
01:16:46He's wanted for murder, miss.
01:16:47Oh, my God.
01:16:49Well, we talked on a plane once, but that was a long time ago.
01:16:54Well, I'm sorry, detective.
01:16:55I'm sorry I can't be of more help.
01:17:01I think you ought to be going soon.
01:17:03But not just yet.
01:17:08So, how will you get out of the country?
01:17:10There's ways.
01:17:30British Consulate, passport and immigration.
01:17:32Yeah, I need a copy of my passport.
01:17:35Jeffrey Donald Copter.
01:17:37C-O-P-T-E-R.
01:17:39Hi, Carol.
01:17:51Do you still sell tights?
01:17:54Uh-huh.
01:17:54Flashstones with seams.
01:18:04I recommend them.
01:18:06Oh, really?
01:18:07Absolutely.
01:18:16Are you on the flight to London tonight?
01:18:17Are you?
01:18:20Uh-huh.
01:18:24Then you better get a move on.
01:18:35Hi, Danny.
01:18:36I've got the light to it.
01:18:37Oh, dear, ma'am.
01:18:39Hi, Carl.
01:18:40This is a friend of mine, Jeffrey Cocktail.
01:18:42Oh, Jeffrey.
01:18:43Is everything okay?
01:18:44Oh, yeah.
01:18:44How's the angle?
01:18:46Never better.
01:18:47Thanks.
01:19:06Stanford.
01:19:07Hey, Peter.
01:19:08How was London?
01:19:10English.
01:19:12Stuart has had the right guy, but our boy was long gone.
01:19:15Too bad.
01:19:16At least you're getting to see the world.
01:19:17Yeah.
01:19:18Two and a half year world tour.
01:19:21Damn.
01:19:22What?
01:19:23He's still sending me postcards.
01:19:25Well, I got some great news.
01:19:27Oprah wants us on her show.
01:19:29No kidding.
01:19:30Nope.
01:19:31It's all set.
01:19:32It airs here and in Europe.
01:19:34It's a whole new audience and a whole new shot.
01:19:37Let's get busy.
01:19:41Come on, Marika.
01:19:42Think about Brazil, the beaches, the music, the sex.
01:19:54What about my job?
01:19:57Let me show you my boat.
01:20:06Hey, I know you.
01:20:09I used to work for you in one of your stores, just sweats.
01:20:11No, you got the wrong guy.
01:20:13No, no, no.
01:20:13You're John Hawkins.
01:20:16Sure, you're the guy that...
01:20:18You got the wrong guy.
01:20:22Hey.
01:20:23Go.
01:20:26What else you got?
01:20:27The usual.
01:20:29London bank account with no money in it.
01:20:31An Irish woman with no clue as to who he was.
01:20:34And an Irish passport application under a phony name.
01:20:37You know, this guy's always been able to separate out the parts of his life.
01:20:42Women think he's straight, men think he's gay.
01:20:44So maybe on the show we can tear down those walls and show the public the whole picture.
01:20:49Good.
01:20:49Hawkins with different looks.
01:20:51Before and after pictures.
01:20:52Crime scene photos.
01:20:54The viewers need to know that this is about a killer on the run and a grieving family left behind.
01:20:59Would Alice Green's mother come on the show?
01:21:03I can ask her.
01:21:03I talked to her last week.
01:21:05She said to be sure and thank you for what you've done.
01:21:08Tell her I've been there.
01:21:09I know how she feels.
01:21:11He's wanted for insurance fraud and murder.
01:21:13And we've been dogging this guy for nearly three years now.
01:21:16But he's very clever, very good looking, and he's a great con man.
01:21:20He's also bisexual, so he can adapt to a lot of different social situations, gay or straight.
01:21:25So, this is one of your more difficult cases.
01:21:29One of the ones that has been most frustrated.
01:21:31We know he's traveling under different names and at least four different passports.
01:21:35Irish, British, American and Canadian.
01:21:38But there's one thing about John Hawkins that hasn't changed.
01:21:40He's still a party animal.
01:21:42Bastard.
01:21:43So if any of your viewers have spotted him, please have him call this number.
01:21:461-800-CRIME-91
01:21:48John?
01:21:50Yeah.
01:21:51A woman just called from Holland.
01:21:53She dated Hawkins and she's hopping mad.
01:21:55Not about the murder, but because he was gay.
01:21:58Does she know where he is?
01:21:59He's sailing on a boat to Sardinia.
01:22:01A catamaran called a Carpe Diem.
01:22:03Carpe Diem?
01:22:04Latin for seize the day.
01:22:08Maybe this will be our day to seize him.
01:22:11Benning Johnson, Naval Intelligence.
01:22:12Hey, there's a white catamaran on the other side of the bay.
01:22:25The guy with the girl?
01:22:27You think that's him?
01:22:29What did Gundale say about this guy?
01:22:30His zipper never closes?
01:22:32That's him.
01:22:32Uh-oh, he's living with a senorina.
01:22:37$100,000 boat.
01:22:39He'll be back.
01:22:41Let's get the catamaran yeti.
01:22:42Here he comes.
01:22:57Let's go.
01:23:01Excuse me, sir.
01:23:18Yeah?
01:23:19Can I see your passport?
01:23:21Oh, sure.
01:23:22Here you go.
01:23:22You're British?
01:23:29That's where I was born.
01:23:34Jeffrey Donald Copter.
01:23:36Captain.
01:23:36Jeffrey Donald Copter.
01:23:40Is that your boat, Mr. Copter?
01:23:43Yeah.
01:23:44Can I ask what this is about?
01:23:46Routine, sir.
01:23:47Nice boat.
01:23:49Thanks.
01:23:50Good night.
01:23:50Mr. Hawkins.
01:23:52Let's go.
01:24:22We need him alive!
01:24:48The oldest scam on the book, Hawkins. Nice try, though.
01:24:51That's the wrong person!
01:24:56Glendale. Yeah, he's here.
01:24:59Pete!
01:25:04Stanford.
01:25:09You got him?
01:25:12Are you serious? You really got him?
01:25:16What do you mean you're not sure it's him, didn't you?
01:25:21No.
01:25:23Jeffrey Copter's just another alias.
01:25:25Did you get the photo I sent?
01:25:28What? Release him? Are you nuts? The damn picture will be there!
01:25:32Son of a bitch!
01:25:40There's a way to identify him. Listen, uh...
01:25:43Have him... have him drop his pants.
01:25:46That's right, you heard me. Have him drop his pants.
01:25:50He's got this white spot.
01:25:51He's got his white spot.
01:25:56We should wear him.
01:26:10Mr. Copter?
01:26:12Yeah.
01:26:31It's him.
01:26:32What? What are they saying?
01:26:33He just threw me out in America.
01:26:34Only in America.
01:26:35Only in America.
01:26:36That's right!
