PKR has clarified that the newly appointed Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Datuk Seri Mohd Khalid Ismail, has never been a member of PKR, nor has he held any position within the party, contrary to claims published on the social media page of a local news outlet on Friday (June 20).

00:12In a statement issued on Saturday, PKR Secretary General Dr Fouzia Saleh clarified the misinformation
00:19shared by a local news outlet's social media page on Friday, which suggested that Mohammad
00:24Khalid had political ties to the party.
00:27He said that linking the IGP to PKR could damage his credibility and fuel public perception
00:33that his appointment was politically motivated, potentially harming the party's image as the
00:38ruling government.
00:39Fouzia stressed that such an error should never have occurred, and urged the news outlet to
00:44carry out an internal investigation into the matter.
00:47On Friday, Mohammad Khalid officially assumed the role of Malaysia's 15th Inspector General
00:53of Police.
00:55He has held several key positions within the Royal Malaysia Police Special Branch, including
01:00serving as Chief of the Pahang Special Branch in 2018, and later as Principal Assistant Director
01:07at Bukit Aman from 2021.
